I thought it might be an idea to start a new thread for The Reichenbach Fall since The Hounds got its thread up to over 200 pages since last Sunday!

Non-spoilery vague preview description: "Sherlock and John lock horns with their old enemy in one final problem that tests loyalty and courage to their very limits. Sherlock must fight for his reputation, his sanity and his life. But is he all he claims to be?"

BBC link for The Reichenbach Fall

Take note of the later start time of 9pm. Get your deerstalkers and spiffy pocket magnifiers ready!

He does have a lovely voice but too much like Dylan Moran which was quite distracting Grin

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 18/01/2012 16:46

Hadn't heard Dylan Moran in Andrew Scott's voice before, but will now for ever, so thanks a bunch! Smile

gastonscave · 18/01/2012 17:02

Same reaction from my dh when I shared that little nugget

Fiderer · 18/01/2012 17:26

Moriarty was scarily mad, I thought. Why didn't he blow half his head off though? He put the gun in his mouth and I'm not sure I believe he'd have killed himself before seeing if Sherlock jumped.
Or was that why he did (or pretended to) as then Sherlock would believe there was no "call it all off" code?

givemushypeasachance · 18/01/2012 17:32

I'll have to re-watch some Black Books now and imagine it's Moriarty in disguise, drunkenly running a bookshop until Sherlock comes back to life!

I suspect Moriarty might not really be dead as well. We never see his head wound properly, just blood on the ground underneath him. And Sherlock doesn't check for a pulse to confirm.

CaveMum · 18/01/2012 17:59

Agreed. I don't believe Moriarty is dead either. No idea how though!

EverybodysSnowyEyed · 18/01/2012 20:16

I would be disappointed if he wasn't dead! Although he's a good villain I wouldn't like this to turn into the Sherlock/Moriarty show.

And there's no way back for him. His character hit a road block

Hassled · 18/01/2012 20:18

I met (adult) DD for lunch today and said "did you watch Sherlock?". She went "oh - has it been on?" Shock. She lives on a distant planet.

DS2 has a new theory which is that the throwing away of the phone pre-jump was A Signal.

CaveMum · 18/01/2012 20:38

Steven Moffat video on Radio Times website.

Also article from the same site elaborating on whatever the heck it is we missed!

MadameOvary · 18/01/2012 21:02

Did anyone else notice the "IOU" graffiti sprayed in the wall in Baker Street?
I usually miss these things so pretty sure am not the only one!
I guessed that the code was a fake - again they kept telegraphing it by saying "two simple lines" or whatever it was.

for anyone who wants to drool see it.
CaveMum · 18/01/2012 21:11

I did see that MadameO, on the second viewing! I also noticed that the graffiti looked like wings as well and wonder if that was significant, along with the references to angels on the rooftop.

Interesting Sherlock fact for Rhubarb: In the 1950s Pan's friend's dad met Basil Rathbone at a train station who had missed a train so he took him home without realising who he was.

You didn't say it had to be new just interesting and I think that's very interesting. It's a great story Pan by the way.

Plus I am fairly sure you already know everything Sherlockian. Plus I'm a bit drunk.

Without a re-watch, I'm sticking with my earlier "throwing 'phone away" post.

CaveMum · 18/01/2012 21:16

LetUsPrey, if you have a free evening on your hands I can highly recommend trawling YouTube for Benedict videos [sighs] Grin

LetUsPrey · 18/01/2012 21:30

Way ahead of you there CaveMum. Waaaay ahead Grin

Panfriedstardust · 18/01/2012 21:58

It is a good story isn't it LUP? Things like that would never happen these days.
Ijncidentally it was at the same station that Paul Simon wrote "Homeward Bound". It ALL happens at Widnes train station!Grin

Panfriedstardust · 18/01/2012 22:01

From wiki - A plaque commemorating this claim to fame is displayed at on the Liverpool bound platform of Widnes railway station. [7] Simon is quoted as saying "[i]f you'd ever seen Widnes, then you'd know why I was keen to get back to London as quickly as possible."[8]

As you were...

Lexilicious · 18/01/2012 22:04

I am watching the Belgravia episode and noting things.

  1. the ringtone of the call to moriarty in the swimming pool is 'staying alive'. he's offered something very valuable and it's apparently Irene Adler whose hand ends the call.
  1. Wanting to know about the hiker /car mystery Irene "knows one of the policemen" in a blackmaily sense
  1. SH says noises are important, noises tell you everything
  1. Watson checks Kate's pulse at the wrist
  1. Irene steals in to return the coat with his phone in the pocket and sets the message tone to her 'sigh'. (see 3)
  1. 'Refit for historical hospital' headline on newspaper - no I'm not bloody freeze framing to see if it's Barts!!
  1. Mycroft/John convo after identifying supposedly Irene shows they collaborate in 'handling' him but he knows it.
  1. When she reveals at Battersea "DNA tests are only as good as the records"... "I know someone" again in pathology
  1. American henchman defenestration injury details to Lestrade.
  1. Watson in front of Irene details Molly, homeless network and 'the boys downstairs' as the friends who could retrieve the phone.

  2. She then says she also collects people who she knows will be there for her at the crucial moments.

  3. moriarty is in direct text contact with Mycroft. re the ghost 747

  4. timeline - Sherlock had the phone for six months from Christmas

  5. more pulse taking... I am SHERlocked

  6. disguise is a self portrait.

  7. another two months at least until Mycroft comes and says she was beheaded in Karachi. (But why does he lend them the file?)

I will re-watch Hound tomorrow...

CaveMum · 18/01/2012 22:08

Can I just say, I've just seen this picture and I'm having very very very very naughty thoughts!

Blush Grin
EverybodysSnowyEyed · 18/01/2012 22:11

Why does BC's head look so abnormally large?

Lexilicious · 18/01/2012 22:14

CaveMum, me first!!

CaveMum · 18/01/2012 22:15

[gets stick out to beat everyone off]

I saw them first!!!!!!

LetUsPrey · 18/01/2012 22:20

CaveMum - I'll have the one on the left. I don't think much of yours though! Grin

ohbugrit · 18/01/2012 22:25

DH pointed out that it was very out of character for Sherlock to phone Watson. He always texts.

Lexilicious · 18/01/2012 22:27

that's why I'm watching from the beginning. Thompson said the plot bombs are in all three episodes
