I'll bring the biscuits Stealth.

I've never been able to watch the last ever episode of Morse. I'll watch Sherlock though.

ScatterChasse · 14/01/2012 23:27

You could always revive the threats Conan Doyle was sent?

"You kill Sherlock, we'll kill you"

I think it will end in a way they can bring him back, even if it seems unlikely. Perhaps Mycroft tells everybody he's dead- like he did with Irene Adler.

I just hope he kills Moriarty, he really really spooks me.

StealthPenguin · 15/01/2012 10:23

LetUsPrey - make sure you bring the custard creams and the chocolate digestives.

I hope Moriarty lives to be honest. I find him completely insane. He's very good! But Sherlock will always be my favourite.

TeamDamon · 15/01/2012 13:03

Spoiler pic alert

Oh dear lord, I know the above link is to the Daily Star, but it is really not looking good for tonight.

I don't think I have enough tissues in the house...

ChairOfTheBored · 15/01/2012 13:15

Oh no! I can;t believe they'd kill him off so soon - after only two series, when they continue to churn out season after season of other things

TeamDamon · 15/01/2012 13:24

Holby, Casualty, Heartbeat - God, even that Wild at Heart safari thing seems to have been going on forever.

But a sharply written, superbly acted, absolutely engrossing top-notch TV drama? Oh no, can't have one of those on TV. What would people think! That the Beeb had suddenly started earning its licence fee? Hmm

To be fair, however, I think Mr Cumberbatch's career is about to go stratospheric - he may be ready to move on from the role.

RustyBear · 15/01/2012 13:26

Unless they have actually killed Benedict Cumberbatch, whatever pictures have been published must have been 'fake' - so why could they not be faked by Sherlock - simply the modern equivalent of Holmes' actions after the Reichenbach confrontation?

CaveMum · 15/01/2012 13:45

I apologise for the Daily Fail link, but look HE'S BACK ON THE MARKET!!!!!!

[conveniently overlooks the fact she is married]

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 15/01/2012 13:52

Fuck, I feel sick.

This episode is going to be tough.

Can't decide if I want it to be a wonderful episode (to balance out the fact that it's the last one, possibly ever) or a rubbish one to make me think 'Oh well, I won't miss it that much.'

On the will-they-won't-they-come-back thing, Benedict is on record as saying both 'I think I might be ready to say goodbye to him [Sherlock]' and, asked if he will do another series, 'I've got a lawyer here telling me I can't say anything [joke] but I'd like to.' Also, an exec producer has gone on record 'confirming' a third series, to which Mark Gatiss' response on Twitter was 'Oh, has she now?'. So, essentially, who knows? I agree that Benedict must be busier and in more demand now than ever before, which might be a point against a third series happening, but points for it are that Freeman apparently continues to do it because he loves it, they are finishing this series with a story that in the original material obviously turned out not to be Sherlock's last outing, and it is a massive cash cow for the Beeb because of all the countries they can sell it to that they may be very reluctant to give up.

LetUsPrey · 15/01/2012 13:57

Going against the grain a bit but I'm not 100% convinced re Moriarty (?sp). Thought he looked a bit Moriarty Jr in the first series. Hopefully I will be convinced tonight.

If ACD could bring him back, then so can the BBC.

And for all Benedict fans - rather than the purely Sherlock ones - . Apologies if it's been linked before.

I like the cane, although I tend to picture him with a riding crop Grin.

LetUsPrey · 15/01/2012 14:01

DH commented on the point that it must be a massive money spinner for the BBC and they'd be daft to stop it. Counter-argument to that is the 79 series of My Family ...

belgo · 15/01/2012 14:06

Sherlock is very popular outside of the UK, I have had belgian friends and acquaintances come up to me and tell me how brilliant it itSmile.

Yes good point about years and years of suffering MyFamily...

RustyBear · 15/01/2012 14:18

Don't forget that Moffat actually enjoys fucking with our heads!

Of course the twist in this case could be that everyone expects the situation to be the same as in The Final Problem/The Empty House and actually it isn't...

Like your thinking here, RustyBear - very logical, very comforting.

And yes, CaveMum - can't really explain my little rush of excitement at the fact that he is single and broody, since I have been married for years, have a child, and wouldn't cause him to pause for one millisecond if he passed me in the street, so far out of my league he is. Hmm Grin

RustyBear · 15/01/2012 15:43

This is actually Moffat being asked about Series 7 of Doctor Who, but it probably pretty much sums up the situation with Sherlock too....

?Okay, here it is ? the best answer you can have. I don?t know. If I did know, I wouldn?t tell you. When I DO know, what I know will change, so I won?t really know then either. And then it will change again, so I still won?t really know. And if, secretly, I?d really known all along, I?d still be telling you I don?t know, because everything I said I knew, could be wrong, so I?d never really have known in the first place.

?Quantum security ? I don?t know AND it?s a secret.

?I?m glad I?ve been able to clarify this for you.?

Have a look at my link up thread Leonie. Might cheer you up. Possibly.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 15/01/2012 17:30

Leonie, yes, I didn't like the sound of his tweet about it being 'the end of an era' but hopefully he's just being grandiose in order to hike up ratings.

RustyBear · 15/01/2012 17:44

Not sure six episodes qualify as 'an era'....

OnlyANinja · 15/01/2012 18:12

But Autumn 2010-January 2012 is probably long enough to be an era.

belgo · 15/01/2012 18:14

Yes it is a era because we are certainly not going about Sherlock, even if there are only ever 6 episodes!

How many episodes were there of Fawtly Towers? Not that many I think.

OnlyANinja · 15/01/2012 18:14

12

LetUsPrey · 15/01/2012 19:03

Seems to be a new thread for tonight's episode here.

LordOfTheFlies · 15/01/2012 21:33

DH is watching Sherlock at the moment.

I can't take Moriarty seriously because he looks like "Ant or Dec" (to quote the Bill Nighy character from Love Actually)

StealthPenguin · 15/01/2012 22:48

FUCKING KNEW IT!!!

Guessed the "game", guessed the "code", guessed the fairy tale reference as soon as they showed the book, AND I FUCKING KNEW HE WASN'T DEAD!!!

I reckon the position of John is vital. Sherlocks body vanished from view and then the cyclist (homeless network?) deliberately disorientated him. The paramedics were false and Molly helped him to fake his own death.

BOOSH.
