OP posts:

devonshire, I follow most a couple of Sherlock-related people on Twitter Blush including Paul McG. I daren't actually tweet any of them though, or offer to do it on your behalf, because DP is also on Twitter and would quite possibly ask me to leave if he saw me trying to converse with Sherlock people. He already thinks I'm a bit in love with Benedict. he has no fucking idea

devonshireduckling · 10/01/2012 17:30

this might be what needs to happen to drag me into the social networking sphere. I feel a bit rude saying "yeah, great script and whatever, yada yada, but where did the dominatrix get her wallpaper from, hmmm??"

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 10/01/2012 17:34

Oh, I wouldn't worry. He apparently had a say in the wallpaper for 221B, so I'm sure he'd love to discuss Irene Adler's decor too!

Tanith · 10/01/2012 18:57

I was trying hard to remember where I'd heard about mind/memory palaces before. I knew there was another literary character famous for using them and that the author had gone into some detail about them, even included a reference to his research at the back of the novel.

After a while, I remembered who it was.
Hannibal Lecter!

ScatterChasse · 10/01/2012 19:10

It does work well oddly enough, although I don't really like it, because for shopping for example, I can 'see' a list in front of me (or just take it with me!) rather than trying to see 'the bananas on the dressing table' or something.

I have used it before for names and dates, especially for exams, but then I 'write' them on the walls of the room and that works better for me.

OnlyANinja · 10/01/2012 20:40

I don't fancy him.

Not interested in the youtube of him snogging someone either.

Even if I did fancy him, why would that mean I wanted to see him snog someone else? That doesn't make sense to me.

I bet the producers etc would love to discuss the wallpaper - they spend a lot of time on this kind of detail and then nearly everyone processes it entirely subconsciously - someone actually noticing would make them happy.

givemushypeasachance · 10/01/2012 21:30

For those interested in the wallpaper and such, try this blog: wearsherlock.tumblr.com/. I don't really do tumblr so it's a little confusing to me, but pretty much just keep scrolling down and you'll see posts. There are a few recent ones about wallpaper!

devonshireduckling · 10/01/2012 22:30

OnlyANinja good point - I once saw an interview about a Diane Keaton film (I think it was Something's gotta give). To design the sets they actually hired an interior designer who was given a brief about the kind of woman who lived in the house (a beautiful house in the Hamptons) so they imagined what she was like, her history etc so that her home reflected her character.

I am sure there is so much detail we miss out on when watching films (a friend of mine is fascinated about what people are eating on film, deconstructing boxed sets).

Great blog Givemushypeasachance! Not sure what Arthur Conan Doyle would make of the "tell me what brand Moriarty's phone is" posts Grin

OnlyANinja · 10/01/2012 22:55

After the Matrix they had to make a phone with a drop-down button-cover thingy because it didn't exist but everyone thought it was cool.

May I be allowed a small boast here . My daughter met Benedict Cumberbatch , when she went to London to see a play . She had her photo taken with him and has got his autograph . I do hope I've made you all jealous !

Crystal - part of my job involves access to the Crown Porsecution Service systems and all passwords are generated by a "widget" that you log into to generate a 1-use password every time you want to get in. I would imagine top-secret stuff might be similar

Mrsg33k · 11/01/2012 13:10

Love it sooo much, got my OH watching it now ;P He reminded me!

Evening ladies, have we all seen video? I love the warning under the video - "WARNING: THIS VIDEO HAS BEEN KNOWN TO CAUSE SEVERE OVARY DAMAGE. VIEWERS PROCEED AT THEIR OWN RISK."

Grin

35ish seconds into the video - OH. MY. GOD. [faints]

CaveMum · 11/01/2012 20:18

Someone up thread mentioned Sherlock's coat. There was a great article in the Guardian during the first series about how men should aspire to dress like Sherlock [wishes].

Article

It says that the coat is made by Belstaff and costs a whopping £1,350 [faints]

CaveMum · 11/01/2012 20:28

Sorry, THIS is the article I meant - not having a good day with my links today!

CaveMum · 11/01/2012 20:28

Did 35 seconds in do it for you Leonie Grin [fans self again]

Q about the Irene Adler one - why the emphasis on her "camera phone"? Most (all?) mobiles have cameras these days. Why did it need spelling out?

TeamDamon · 12/01/2012 07:53

Moffat tweeted about that, I think - basically just said he hadn't quite caught up with modern technology! Grin

RustyBear · 12/01/2012 07:54

I thought that was a device to make us concentrate on the photos, when actually it was the other stuff on the phone that was important - it did sound clumsy, though.
