Rusty, v clumsy.

Arf at Moffat not having caught up with modern technology as he spends so much of time writing timey-wimey intergalactic to the end of the universe and back by tea stuff Grin

They haven't ruled out a third series, but it could be difficult to get out of! Plus with BC and MF away filming in New Zealand for, most likely, the rest of the year, they won't be able to film any more Sherlock till 2013 at the earliest Sad

RustyBear · 13/01/2012 11:29

Conan Doyle didn't seem to find it difficult to get out of! He revived Sherlock and wrote about him for 24 years after The Final Problem...

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 13/01/2012 12:13

I get the impression pretty much all involved want another series, but I suspect no one really knows about how the logistics would work.

I too am nervous as hell about this week's episode. I feel sick already and it's only Friday. I might cry in front of my household. Blush

RustyBear · 13/01/2012 12:20

Sherlock was 'dead' from 1891-1894 originally, so if they filmed a new series in 2013 and showed it in 2014, that would be fairly close to the right timescale.

which photo?

Even if they kill him off, so to speak - surely it's going to be in a Conan Doyle 'we can bring him back' way.

I'll still cry, mind you...

Bossybritches22 · 13/01/2012 18:24

Martin F was chatting about another series when he was on Graham Norton recently, it will be 2013 at earliest due to them both being in The Hobbit, so he seemed comfortable with the idea they'll be back. Grin

LeBOF · 13/01/2012 18:29

It's been a big hit in the States, and I can't see the BBC killing the golden goose.

OOOOH NOOOO MARTIN f is on "The One Show" now & when Chris Evan asked him about another series he said

" ah well it might not be so easy as you'll see after the episode".........

Sad
iklboo · 13/01/2012 20:06

Ah, but that might be because of the ending of the Conan Doyle Sherlock story of the Reichenbach (sp?) Falls.
(won't spoil!!)

givemushypeasachance · 13/01/2012 20:09

There's "ending on a high while your show is still good and popular" and "pissing people off by refusing to produce more of something that is very much in demand".

For the latter, see Sir ACD's writing career after the Final Problem.

Even if Sherlock is very very dead looking, stuffed into a drawer in St Bart's morgue, brought out and partially disected by Molly then John takes his skull to keep on his mantlepiece and talk to, I'm not buying it. There will be more.

ChairOfTheBored · 13/01/2012 20:58

FINALLY got time to watch this. I liked it a lot, but who was the guy being released at the end? Apologies if this has been asked and answered upthread...

Raahh · 13/01/2012 21:27

The bloke at the end was Moriarty, Sherlock's archenemy.

TeamDamon · 14/01/2012 10:45

In The Final Problem, no-one sees what happens between Moriarty and Holmes, and Holmes' body is never recovered.

The Photo does not make me feel comforted. Sad

If the BBC shut it down after a measly six episodes, when they let some crap shows be churned out series after series, I will be Angry It's the best thing they've made in years.

If they kill off Sherlock I am camping outside the BBC studios with a sign saying "The 99%". That number will represent the percentage of people in the UK that will be supremely pissed off if Sherlock is not continued.

You may all join me. I'll serve up tea.

Not. fucking. buying. it.
They will bring it back. Just you watch.
