I like the 90-minute format and thought the pilot was a bit rubbish (although, to be fair, not entirely because of its length). Each episode feels like an event and a treat, and there's an argument for quality over quantity. On the other hand, it'd be nice if there was a six or eight-part series of Benedict and his beautiful hands and kissy bottom lip the show.

Actually, I think I have residual Rupert fancying from when he was all foppish and floppy-fringed in A Room with a View....

An interesting twist on a classic story - definitely the most entertaining prog on TV at the moment. Have only just discovered this series - how did I miss the original?? Oh well, better late than never.

Advise that we all avoid Atonement, btw - had forgotten that the character he plays in that turns out to be the rapist and I for one really don't want to tarnish my love for him admiration with that...

Re - Atonement - yes but is he a rapist in that though? I'm not sure. When I first saw it I thought he was but then I watched it again and am not sure now. I think she may have consented to be honest but after they are spotted she says it was rape to avoid the disgrace.

Thinking about it though, it would definitely be statutory rape though certainly.
