Have you got series 2?!!! Envy

So gutted they divorce. Not fair :(

wildstrawberryplace · 13/02/2012 16:33

Yes, I have Series 2. My lovely friend has sent it as an early birthday gift, with strict instructions that it must be watched back to back with plenty of Wine Grin

diddl · 13/02/2012 17:47

Did she also stipulate that you must invite some MNers?

Philip Angry

That's all I'm saying.

icapturethecastle · 13/02/2012 21:56

Danish light fitting related: Looking for a light for my bathroom and found this here looks kind of like a Poul Henningsen (well kind of!)

wildstrawberryplace · 13/02/2012 22:25

I love the way it's called valhalla Grin

tyler80 · 15/02/2012 22:44

Watched the final episode last night. Really enjoyed the series as a whole.

Always wonder how they do the translation for some of these things, they often seem to translate things not quite directly for no reason at all when there is a more or less direct translation. OH (Danish) kept interrupting pointing out inaccuracies

I've been promised buttermilk soup next time we go to Denmark.

wildstrawberryplace · 17/02/2012 16:43

Just popping on to say that having watched Series 2 I think that maybe I prefer Borgen to The Killing Shock - certainly to TKS2, although of course it's a different type of subject. Series 2 is gobsmackingly good.

Why can't we do drama like this in the UK? All of our stuff, even the better stuff, seems to have an annoying postmodern self conscious posturing thing going on.

Roll on The Bridge.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 17/02/2012 16:56

What is The Bridge? I keep hearing about it.

I actually can't wait for the American Killing (series 2). I really liked the first one. [heretic]

SeaShellsDreamingOfSummer · 17/02/2012 17:31

Is s2 that good! Fantastic, can't wait Grin

Ladyclarice 'mam Wink The Bridge is a collaboration between Sweden and Denmark tv- another drama, it's meant to be brillient (the bridge Os the one between the two countries.

I want s2 and TKs3 now!!! And Sherlock s3

diddl · 17/02/2012 17:47

Anyone know when/what channel The Bridge is on?

SeaShellsDreamingOfSummer · 17/02/2012 17:49

I think it is bbc4 sometime this year, but not sure when/where for definate :)

aloiseb · 18/02/2012 00:49

The Guardian thinks it's this Spring on BBC4 - see
www.guardian.co.uk/tv-and-radio/2012/jan/06/the-killing-sanish-drama-borgen
Can't wait! - much as I like Inspector Montalbon and Sicily, and DH actually likes him too (which is nice for a change, he can't stand the Scandi gloom!)

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 18/02/2012 15:36

Cool, thanks SeaShells. Sounds interesting.

I am dying for Sherlock Series 3 too!

icapturethecastle · 19/02/2012 22:19

Those that Kill starts this Thursday at 10 on ITV3 it has Troels! here

Watching Homeland now - would be better in Danish.

lovechoc · 26/04/2012 18:38

Just saw the first two episodes of The Bridge on BBC4 last night (we recorded it on Saturday) - am hooked! Cannot wait until it's on again this Saturday! Would highly recommend if you enjoyed the American version of The Killing. Have also been told the Danish version is brilliant.

LaVolcan · 26/04/2012 19:54

".....if you enjoyed the American version of The Killing. Have also been told the Danish version is brilliant."

The Danish version is vastly superior. The Bridge is good - can't wait for the next episode.

lovechoc · 26/04/2012 19:58

Yes, have heard that from a relative about the Danish version, it is meant to be much better, LaVolcan. :)

daffodilly2 · 27/04/2012 19:30

Brilliant stuff. Like Casper character best. Think prime minister's hubby is mean - but dead good looking.

ImperialBlether · 19/08/2012 00:47

OK I'm reviving this old thread! We've had Borgen recorded and not watched it - big mistake! Now seen five episodes and completely hooked.

None of you have mentioned that her husband is Stefan from Wallander! The one who commits suicide and led me to cry for a week.

Amazing seeing all of The Killing actors in it - took me ages to figure out who Theis Birk Larson was! That's the trouble - it's all tense and then I'm shouting out "I know who he is!"

And yes, so happy that Jan Meyer was brought back from the dead.

Some of you were talking about The Bridge - wasn't that amazing? I still have the opening track (Hollow Talk) playing here. Love it.

ImperialBlether · 19/08/2012 00:54

Oh and while I'm at it - why did they live in such small quarters? The house kept being shown and it was huge, then their living space was tiny - their bedroom was off the kitchen ffs.

Also, why didn't they have a cleaner? Do they not have cleaners in Denmark? And why was the PM having to collect her children from school?

I'd love to know how realistic this was.

squoosh · 19/08/2012 02:32

Just finished watching too.

How did they go from loved up to divorced up in about two episodes? Irritated me no end.

I was a bit 'meh' about The Bridge, it had gripping moments but was just waaaaaay too far fetched.

I still love Troels Hartmann.

ImperialBlether · 19/08/2012 09:53

Me too. There's a special place in my heart for those cheekbones.

Yes, the initial story in The Bridge was good but actually the whole plot didn't make any sense at all - just a way of getting 12 episodes out of a flimsy story. I loved the actors though - thought the woman was fantastic. I thought it had the best opening sequence (music and photography) of anything I've seen.

moreyear · 30/11/2013 00:28

Sorry for the reanimation.

I've just started Borgen series one (very late to the party) and am only up to episode 4 but I am not overly impressed. It is watchable but seems lacking something. Does it get better?

It seems pretty unbelievable in a Disney way (if they made TV for old people like me), everyone is vastly good looking, they live in beautiful/ thoughtful/stylish homes, only have nuanced, ernest relationships, their eyewear is superb, scarves are elegantly draped...etc

I loved Forbryldelson, BB, MM, The Wire, Sopranos, etc, Borgen is gorgeous to watch but seems lightweight in comparison. Does it improve and is just setting the stage for Brigitte's total descent into Machiavalian nightmare or is it a relatively lightweight, though stylish puff piece that I just enjoy as a better class of mindless escapism?
