Can I just say I heart this - great story, great writing, and meyer and strange from the killing I and II - what's not to like?!

and the 'new troels' is rather dissapointing...

smugmumofboys · 14/01/2012 23:21

Still loving it. Sad storyline for Katrine. Birgitte is a fab PM - love the acting. Greenland crossed off this year's list of Must See destinations.

Surely I can't be the only one who yelled 'Theis Birk Larson' in a ropey Danish accent? Grin

campocaro · 15/01/2012 09:12

Love this too - see Borgen producers for more about the company behind the programme. We're completely hooked. Last night's episodes were gripping in all sorts of ways!

I was also impressed by the coat hooks -cant remember whose house they were in (possibly the tv journalist) but they were sort of big individual round ones arranged in a criss-cross pattern...off to search for them but if anyone else noticed them and knows where you can get similar let me know.

mousyMouse · 15/01/2012 09:30

here are a few coat trees

Highlander · 15/01/2012 10:22

Sigh. I love Danish TV.

Soren Malling (Meyer) is soooo damn nice to look at Blush

LaVolcan · 15/01/2012 11:51

Did anyone else notice that Carsten was played by the same actor who played Jens Holck in The Killling?

So that's four ex-Killing actors.

campocaro · 15/01/2012 14:39

mousy mouse -thanks but no- the ones in Borgen were completely different to 'normal' coat hooks. I've just found them

here

Shame about the price but they are lovely I think!

campocaro · 15/01/2012 14:48

Just found these! danish coat hook porn

I'll stop now...

culturemulcher · 15/01/2012 18:16

LaVolcan did you spot Theis pop up as Hans Christian? DH pointed it out - he looked completely different (Theis not DH).

LaVolcan · 15/01/2012 19:38

Culturemulcher - yes I did. Took a while to place Jens Holck though.

LaVolcan · 15/01/2012 19:38

Jens Holck as Carsten that is.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 15/01/2012 19:43

i've seen about five eps... it's really, really soapy. guarantee that if it was remade in english you wouldn't all think it was so good. you are DAZZLED by the furniture. Grin

mousyMouse · 15/01/2012 19:52

yes, but a well acted soap with really strong characters. and good furniture as a bonus.
could nearly play in london with a flat the size of katerine's.

Foxinsocks · 15/01/2012 19:57

Campocaro - I so perved over those coat hooks. I wound it back especially to look at them again!

I tried to persuade dh and the kids that we should go to Copenhagen in half term (I love it, one of my fave cities) - could even drive to Malmo over the bridge! Sadly they weren't as keen as me! But I did check flights and hotels and it's really busy. Clearly a lot of people inspired by these programmes Grin

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 15/01/2012 20:16

are they strong characters? the women all seem to be weeping and doubting and the men are monsters either in waiting or currently and it's all about consensus politics. borgen = boren Grin

AnonymousBird · 16/01/2012 09:26

I have this saved and cannot WAIT to start watching. It's saved for when DH is away from home as he doesn't like subtitles OR politics and I adore both!!!!

dogindisguise · 16/01/2012 15:02

I want to go to Denmark so much after watching The Killing and Borgen - particularly Borgen, where it's not miserable and rainy the whole time. It looks so clean and great for cycling (Birgitte doesn't have a car following her carrying a briefcase as far as I can see). I like picking up a few Danish words from the subtitles. It's a bit strange seeing Ulrich Strange come back to life as a good guy. And I wonder if they took note of Britain's expenses scandal?

joanofarchitrave · 16/01/2012 23:24

i think in a couple more episodes I will be emitting brief Danish exclamations at moments of stress. Hope so, anyway. Liking 'Nu' (sp?) for Now.

muminlondon · 16/01/2012 23:43

I noticed another 'pss' (translated as sht')!

mousyMouse · 17/01/2012 08:52

only one mumin? :o

bigbuttons · 17/01/2012 09:17

I was talking to my Danish dentist( I soooo would) recently about all these wonderful Danish tv imports. I said it must be great to get the full script and not just subtitles. He shrugged and said there were much better shows than the killing and BorgenConfused
Bring 'em on then!

Only 12.45hrs to go Grin

redroof · 21/01/2012 14:07

"Surely I can't be the only one who yelled 'Theis Birk Larson' in a ropey Danish accent?"
No!
For all those Theis- lovers out there, I can recommend the film 'Festen' (The Feast) to see a much younger-looking Theis.
Loving Borgen, I think it's going to get even better too.
