just seen a trailer with the gorgeous Captain Jack and Gwen. No idea when it will be shown bit I'm so happyyyy. We really thought they'd killed it off with the last series.

Anyone know when it's coming??!!

Microserf - I was so traumatised by Children of Earth and by what Jack now stood for, that I swore that I wouldn't watch any further seasons of Torchwood if they did ever bring it back (I sort of assumed that by blowing up The Hub and killing everyone, it was RTD's way of indicating that Torchwood the series was over Hmm). I can't get any sort of warm fuzzies for Jack after we know what he did in Children of Earth.

So I'm now choosing to forget the whole season so I can enjoy this one! Blush

CQrrrneee · 17/07/2011 18:18

yes Jack seems very pleased with himself considering he killed his own grandson last time he was on Earth. No mention of him or Ianto on meeting up with Gwen again.

Oh I can't bear JB on telly, so shiny and cheesy. He does do other things that require actual talent though, I saw him in La Cage aux Folles and he was excellent.

microserf · 18/07/2011 07:08

reshapewhiledamp not to mention jack giving the kids to the aliens as well - i felt absolutely sick when i realised what the twist was.

i am also choosing to ignore the last season and pretend it never happened.

JB is good in Delovely. Although he is a bit typecast

WitchoftheBog · 18/07/2011 21:24

Is anyone going to answer BrokenBananaTantrum's question?

I too would like to know why they are trying to kill Gwen. And who are 'they'? And why she and her familly are in hiding?

WitchoftheBog · 18/07/2011 21:42

family
Lost the will to spell

HarrietJones · 18/07/2011 21:53

I thought it was because she was all that was left of Torchwood

ProcrastinatorGeneral · 18/07/2011 23:02

I told them to. Gwen to go! Grin

BrokenBananaTantrum · 19/07/2011 13:13

But i don't understand why being the last one would matter.......

HarrietJones · 19/07/2011 13:22

She knows things.. Wink

CQrrrneee · 19/07/2011 13:25

but there's martha as well....

BrokenBananaTantrum · 19/07/2011 17:04

You mean she knows about the 456?

CQrrrneee · 19/07/2011 17:14

oh I dunno she wasn't in that one Hmm but she does know all about Torchwood

timetosmile · 19/07/2011 17:16

Is this the last ever series - now Jack is mortal, will he die and that's the end?

btw, the beach chase was filmed at Rhossilli, at the end of the Gower Penninsula...the house used to be available as a holiday let a few years back, may well still be for all I know (though presumably rates are now negotiable as it has a great hole ripped through it....)

Gutted they are going to the States (as a Welsh girl myself), but the 'no-one can die anymore' proposition is fascinating - makes me glad I don't work in ITU...

NotDavidTennant · 19/07/2011 17:39

No-one knows who 'they' are or why they are after Jack and Gwen. That's presumably what we're going to find out as the story unfolds.

WitchoftheBog · 19/07/2011 20:42

Ahh NotDavidTennant I hope you are right.

You see, I would have thought Gwen would have been a heroine after her help saving all the children in the last series.

Not Captain Jack so much, after killing his own grandson. Still can't bring myself to watch Children of Earth again

CQrrrneee · 19/07/2011 22:52

She has changed her hair - that's motherhood for you

WitchoftheBog · 20/07/2011 21:17

Having spoken to my mum and sister secret sources I think you are right HarrietJones.

Apparantly 'they' i.e. the government, blew up Torchwood Cardiff to eliminate all members of Torchwood because they knew the reason that all the children were being rounded up whereas the rest of the country didn't.

However, if Gwen is in the Witness Protection Programme surely the government are the people who would know where she is!?

HarrietJones · 21/07/2011 06:52

I don't think it was an official witness protection programme. Not with those guns

BrokenBananaTantrum · 21/07/2011 07:35

Thank you for sorting all that out for me witchofthebog. I'm looking forward to tonight episode already.

qwepoi · 21/07/2011 17:37

We enjoyed it - but missed all of the last series, so a bit lost! Can anyone outline what happen?!

HarrietJones · 21/07/2011 21:54

Fight scenes are crap

Dumbledoresgirl · 21/07/2011 22:26

LOL at the fight scenes. Did you notice, they never actually show anyone being hit? I know actors mime being hit, but usually they show the supposed impact. In today's fight scene, the camera cut away before each supposed hit was made - that's American tv for you!

One totally dotty question I hope someone will answer for me: in the scene where Jack is throwing up, does it actually show him throwing up or is he off camera at that point? As an emetophobe, I was under the blanket at that point, unable to watch (although the sound effects were graphic enough). I only ask because I find the dialogue quite hard to hear so normally would watch each episode twice to pick up the words I miss, but I don't think I'll bother if the vomiting scene is too graphic.

I can't say I really enjoyed it tonight... I am already bored of the "no-one can die" scenario and all its ramifications.
