just seen a trailer with the gorgeous Captain Jack and Gwen. No idea when it will be shown bit I'm so happyyyy. We really thought they'd killed it off with the last series.

Anyone know when it's coming??!!

I don't remember seeing actual vomit - he just yacks into the toilet.

Dumbledoresgirl · 21/07/2011 22:34

Thanks. He didn't look too handsome this episode did he? Grin

He didn't look handsome but I still would Blush

Dumbledoresgirl · 21/07/2011 22:37

Thanks again. I was laughing at ds1 because he couldn't help flinching at the bit where Gwen brandishes the syringe - he has a fear of injections - yet there was I physically covering my head the minute JB said he was going to throw up!

PortBlacksandIsleOfDogs · 21/07/2011 22:40

I thought Captain Jack wanted to die in the last series of Torchwood....maybe he's changed his mind......

SESthebrave · 21/07/2011 22:40

I preferred this week to last week. Loved it when Gwen told them to be careful of his coat. That is what you would think in that moment, isn't it Hmm

Also did anyone else spot the CIA poison woman was Katya Kinski from Neighbours?! Blush

Dumbledoresgirl · 21/07/2011 22:47

Yes, I wondered why Jack is suddenly so keen to hold on to his life, having spent 3 series emphasising the terrible situation he is forced to exist in, being immortal and watching all the people he cares for age and die while he remains the same.

I suppose he wants to stay alive long enough to solve the mystery of Miracle Day though.

AppleTreeWick · 21/07/2011 22:57

Ooooer Torchwood passes the Bechdel test with flying colours. I really like this series. And considering I went into full mourning for Ianto after S3 and could barely think about a US Torchwood without a spitoon handy that's no mean feat.

I liked the coat line too. They just have to separate the US women from their heels and I don't know, hand them a bazooka?

PortBlacksandIsleOfDogs · 21/07/2011 23:07

I really wish the bad guy with the really really bad guy on tap / phone wasn't the bad guy from Jurassic Park.....i just expect to see his cartoon waggling it's finger on the computers going "oh oh no"......

AppleTreeWick · 21/07/2011 23:28

Oh that's who he is! Thank you for identifying the bad desk guy. He is clearly merely evil minion grade I agree, maybe one day he will be allowed to hold the real bad guys cloak of evil. I hope perky PR drug rep lady is the real big badda boo!

Pixel · 21/07/2011 23:51

Jack may have wanted to die before, but he doesn't want to be the only one now everyone else is living forever. Can't blame him really.

Pixel · 21/07/2011 23:53

Bad desk guy, do you mean the one who was the policeman in Third Rock from the Sun?

Wamster · 22/07/2011 07:42

This is still a bit plodding for my liking, but it still could get better.
One thing is really obvious to be, though, and stands out like the proverbial and that is the Gwen Cooper character.
Let's face it; this is an American show now and to be honest her character really grates with rest of programme. I'm part Welsh myself and have nothing against Wales at all. But she just doesn't fit anymore. Also, all that 'I'm Welsh' shit is a bit desperate.
What's the point of her? I don't see it anymore now that they've got other 'kickass' women involved in programme- don't know name of excellent redhead PR woman, but she is great.

HarrietJones · 22/07/2011 07:48

3rd Rock! Yes! I spent ages last night trying to work him out, I knew the woman from Dollhouse ( excellent btw worth a watch!)

Yes, I think she is Clare from 6ft under.

I think the doctor is not wet at all and she seems pretty kind and decent.
Gwen character worked when the show was set in Wales but now it's gone American (and it has and nothing wrong with that) she seems to jar with rest of it. She's not the best actress in it anymore and (from an American viewpoint- we all know they like their TV show women to be skinny and young. I don't agree but that is how they want it) she's certainly not the youngest or prettiest. Perhaps she is supposed to be a comic character or something coming out with Welsh stuff in a bid to keep Welsh viewers happy.
Captain Jack still fits as he has a strong American accent and the 'look'.

MugglesandLuna · 22/07/2011 10:20

Bill Pullman is very creepy as the murderer who didnt die. Surely the lethal injection would have doen something to his body though, especially his internal organs??

I know it was supposed to be serious, but I cred with laughter when they were making the antidote to cyanide. I also laughed at the broken necked woman.

It was better this week. I always think Gwen is better without her husband.

HarrietJones · 22/07/2011 10:22

I'm glad they left Rhys. I was worried about the baby been left alone ( did you notice the breastfeeding comment?)

Dumbledoresgirl · 22/07/2011 10:25

Well, I think if Gwen is a throwback to old Torchwood, then Capt Jack is too - at the moment anyway. I am sure his role will strengthen in time (he is still billed as the star of the show) but so far, he has had a disappointingly minor part to play, and his immortality (or not, now) and mysterious/extra-terrestrial status just isn't fitting with the setting. He feels like a fairy tale character in a modern political thriller. Bring back the quirkiness! Bring back the mystery! And for God's sake, bring back the dominant, sexy role!

Dumbledoresgirl · 22/07/2011 10:28

Meant to add, I do like the character of Rex though. There could be some really great scenes between him and Jack if the scriptwriters did their job properly. I want to see the 2 of them scoring points off each other and battling for domination a la Jack and Owen in series one. Jack has to win though Wink

Wamster · 22/07/2011 10:31

They could be using Barrowman more- he certainly has potential to shine in this series. He's got everything: really good looks and charisma and should be the star of the show. Give him more scenes.

HarrietJones · 22/07/2011 10:33

I like Rex, the Dr is good &the other woman who was warning him. It's the story being so slow which is disappointing.

And the fight scenes were soooo badgetting obsessed

TeaspoonThief · 22/07/2011 10:35

Also - nothing is made of his ?th century pheromones that make him irresistible to men and women - remember that from the first two series? He is a shadow of his former self....

I was bored last night and fidgeting - dH kept saying just trust in Russel T Davies....stick with it Grin

Dumbledoresgirl · 22/07/2011 10:37

But you can't show actual violence in America, as I understand it. It all has to be just out of shot. It was crap though, I agree.

From what I understand, the Americans are also funny about language and explicit sex scenes. We could be in for a very boring show.
