I'm wondering this, too. I have the first two series but need to know whether I can start straight from 3.

TroelsNextCampaignManager · 27/03/2011 17:03

and
bumps

I never saw one and picked it up at two so I am guessing (hoping) that you can pick it up but you might miss some of the nuances ....

TroelsNextCampaignManager · 27/03/2011 17:29

thanks, blackduck Smile
see you on the S3 thread?

Blackduck · 27/03/2011 21:03

womma · 27/03/2011 21:16

Is there a new series of Spiral? When?
{tenterhooks}

MikeRotch · 27/03/2011 21:16

and is it good

womma · 27/03/2011 21:32

Being a resourceful sort, I've gone and looked on the BBC website. It starts on Saturday 2nd April at 9pm on BBC 4.

I'll be glued!!

TroelsNextCampaignManager · 27/03/2011 23:45

sorry for not responding earlier womma - typical sunday RL chaos preventing me from MNing - see you on the thread!

mike good to hear - looking forward to it!

Good strong female lead ..... and some lovely blokes ;)

CharlotteBronteSaurus · 28/03/2011 06:48

i hope so - have s1 on dvd but s2 seems to have passed me by completely

womma · 28/03/2011 14:11

Ooh, we've got a spiral gang!!! Yes, looking forward to seeing it. Thought the last one was brilliant.

muminLundsbrownjumper · 28/03/2011 19:17

Well, I watched series 1 and 2 in reverse order and it didn't make much difference - the cases and criminals were quite different. Certainly not as bad as the Wire even if there is a team of prosecutors and police with a bit of history.

I wonder if the crooked redhead barrister is going to be in this one? By series 2 she was working for the drugs mafia. Again some good women characters.

muminlondon · 01/04/2011 17:27

bump - who's going to be watching tomorrow night then? And are we sticking to this thread?

womma · 01/04/2011 20:02

Me, and yes, sticking like glue

TooTiredToArgue · 02/04/2011 08:49

Hello ladies

'Tis I (BengtsPolarPineSauna), with name change. Missing The Killing like mad, but keen to see the next series of Spiral. DH will even watch it with me (hopefully managing to stay awake throughout).

I'd forgotten about the red head barrister. Wasn't she shagging the other dodgy lawyer? Can't remember what happened to her at the end. The bit that sticks in my mind was when Sammy emerged from the boot of the car alive (having been presumed dead) only to be embraced by an emotional Laure. I admit, my eyes were not completely dry that night.... Soppy, moi, mais non!

P.S. I got Ken Bran's Wallander from the library to try to fill the void the The Killing left. Most disappointed. Bring back Troels, Bengt, Theis, NBK et al Smile

Highlander · 02/04/2011 12:00

I would like to secretly admit that I actually had a bit of a crush on Meyer. Shame the only time he got his shirt off was in the ambulance Wink

V much looking forward to the Spiral tonight.

muminlondon · 02/04/2011 12:14

TooTired, yes that was a tense finale. So just trying to get in the mood here and recall the characters:

Laure, main character, did lose her badge at one point but I can't remember why - a shooting? Also nearly got her lover killed and screwed up the op by calling him on his mobile to see if he was OK (is that right)?

Sammy - undercover narcotics cop (will he appear again? Laure's relationships don't seem to last long)

Judge Roban with the really kindly reassuring air about him

Pierre Clement - fantastically good-looking prosecutor, who seems to attract a lot of political pressure

Karlsson the ambitious/greedy barrister - last seen having fled the country if I remember correctly (how is she going to get her career back on track)

That other cop (Filou?) who has/had a cocaine habit

muminlondon · 02/04/2011 12:17

I know what you mean about Meyer.

TooTiredToArgue · 02/04/2011 16:43

Well remembered, MuminLondon.

I have a feeling that Sammy may not appear in this series. Not based on anything factual, just, as you say, Laure's relationships are never very successful. Did she and Clement ever get it on? I just can't remember. He always reminded me of Luka the doctor from ER.....

Had forgotten about the cop with the cocaine habit (and prostitute girlfriend). Think he might be Gilou (London, do you have yoghurts on the brain, perchance Grin?)

muminlondon · 02/04/2011 17:38

Grin ahem, petit Gilou and sidekick Tintin ...

bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0072wk9

Laure had a fling with Pierre Clement in series 1 but it didn't seem to go anywhere.

crunchbag · 02/04/2011 19:01

Sounds like a good series to fill the void left by The Killing. I watched the first series but never knew there was a second.
From Denmark to France it is then :)

TooTiredToArgue · 02/04/2011 19:48

Indeed. Everyone got their bretons on?

Crunchbag, I have started exercising to fill the void left by the Killing (Day 1, level 2 of the Shred, for those of you in the know/interested). That shows real desperation....

Psst , ex-knitoneperneilleone here.

How has Spiral passed me by Shock?! I do like a good Euro-crime (TV or book) so am getting all excited about this.

I've got the first 2 series lined up on LoveFilm, so I too am hoping that I'll be able to follow it having missed the others.

Do I need to be wearing any special item of clothing for this one?
