God that was a brilliant finale!. Talk about tense. Catch up everyone, it's worth it!

muminlondon · 07/05/2011 23:35

I read that the plots are based on real life stories - not so much a whodunnit but will they get him in time? The Roban story really got me. And the last scene with Josephine and Pierre was heart-wrenching. I never thought I would warm to her so much.

teej · 07/05/2011 23:41

actually mum now that you've reminded me that was the other bit where i went "yessssss!" she should have done that aaaages ago....
lucky bint... Wink
so... what's our next subtitled crime obsession?
....

muminlondon · 07/05/2011 23:52

There's a whole Icelandic week coming up on BBC4 with Jar City tomorrow night. Not so much commitment television as Nordic noir TV but still up my street.

Looking forward to Spiral 4!

teej · 08/05/2011 00:23

Ahhh Killing 2, Spiral 4 and did I hear we might be getting more Wallander?

But what about next Saturday night?

muminlondon · 08/05/2011 00:56

Well, it was going to be one French film, but now it's Tell No One in French with Kristen Scott Thomas. It's good but I've already seen it.

Great chase scene crossing the Peripherique though.

MelinaM · 08/05/2011 23:23

Fab final episode and "yesss" that salaud peu de mal' was definitely asking for itGrin

Now what am I to do with my saturday evenings ladies?!

Tell No One is well worth watching, ...teeny tiny soft spot for Francois Cluzet!

muminlondon · 08/05/2011 23:52

Just watched Jar City. Now that was bleak.

doings · 09/05/2011 10:02

Bleak but worthing watching?muminlondon I've got it waiting Sky+ed

doings · 09/05/2011 10:09

Liked the finish. Pleased to have some sort of decent endings at a series finale instead of a load of teasers which all the US series give you.

Interesting that Josephine was no freer than Niko's girls in the end. In fact, all the women who featured were 'broken' in some way - but, hey, the guys didn't fare much better, come to think of it.

muminlondon · 09/05/2011 16:14

doings, you're right, Szabo was like a pimp that Josephine couldn't escape. All through the other series there are themes of interdependent relationships and the human consequences of a wrong judgement. How will Pierre cope professionally on his own? Is the Gilou-Laure relationship that healthy when it thrives on them covering up for each other and being needed? Is the Bremont-Laure relationship also tainted now that he has also got involved in covering up Laure's mistake? Or is he a hero for understanding that she needed his support?

Jar City was watchable and even funny at times (his choice of takeaway). But very bleak!

georgienotporgie · 09/05/2011 17:16

Am a late convert - it was bad enough to think I'd missed the first 8 episodes, now am gutted to realise I've missed 2 whole series-es. Merde! Am dreaming in French again (bad A-level French) and daydreaming about gorgeous French policeman. Saturday nights had just got good and now it's all over...does anyone know if there will be a series 4? otherwise will save my pennies to buy the first 2.

muminlondon · 09/05/2011 18:57

Yes, according to this interview there will be a series 4, in France at least. It took nearly a year for series 3 to come to BBC4 though.

aloiseb · 09/05/2011 23:14

We need to put pressure on BBC4 then! Can't be doing with nothing but documentaries about caravans, however interesting. Blush

I felt sorriest for Roban - he's lost everything and all because of his disgusting brother. I reckon after the last episode he went after him with a blunt instrument. And TG that Frothy Mouth got his correct death penalty.....just a pity about how, and from whom.

Loved: the fact that not all females in France have to be pretty, young and slim. Disney take note!
Hated: the fact that nobody seemed to be able to get by without sex for 5 mins, or if not having it, talking about it or suspecting people of having it.
They should probably get more jumpers.

Agree with MelinaM, what are we going to do with our Saturdays now?
I am reading Stieg Larsson - enjoyably gritty - but need TV to do the ironing to. Have also got series one of "The Wire" from the library and I am hounding them to buy Spiral One and Two!

georgienotporgie · 12/05/2011 22:14

Quoi?! Need to move 'cross the channel, can't wait a year. Thanks for all your 'company' ladies - have been holed up on the pc for most of the week - not even venturing out on thrilling school run - and miss the girly chat!

georgienotporgie · 12/05/2011 22:24

hi Mammamoomin just seen your message (about a week late? - typical)...aren't younice, are you still happy to lend it out or is there a waiting list?

MelinaM · 12/05/2011 23:57

I think it's a case of purchasing the box set and starting from the beginning aloiseb ...blissGrin

aloiseb · 01/09/2011 20:21

Heads up folks! Spiral I is reshowing, starting this Saturday!

I now feel cheated of the DVD boxed set birthday present I had already bought myself.....

MelinaM · 01/09/2011 23:20

Ohhh yay, c'est fabuleux!!!! It's v,v handy to have aloiseb, who knows when they'll put 2 and 3 on again!!!

Grin
aloiseb · 02/09/2011 23:20

Good point MelinaM, you have made me feel better (which is probably more than the series will!)

aloiseb · 14/06/2012 20:46

Argghhh! Have lost my boxed set! Now I can't even be sure whether I ought to be taping the Spirals which are on at the moment.

BTW I did eventually watch "Jar City". Can't really now remember what it was about, but have abiding memory of hero eating a take-away sheep's head.....Shock

Bleak in excelsis.
