A parent saying about a pool at the holiday villa

"We'll have to send you lot to bed early so that (other parent) and I can go skinny dipping"

Pringlemunchers · 22/08/2019 19:04

Puke !!!!!!!!!!! Are you kidding

Myriade · 22/08/2019 19:04

Nope.
They would think I’ve lost my mind but they wouldn’t be offended.

WorraLiberty · 22/08/2019 19:05

No but they'd cringe themselves inside out, as would most people I imagine.

Bunnybigears · 22/08/2019 19:05

He wouldnt be offended he would either laugh if said in a joking way or go ' eugh I dont want to know'if he thought I was serious.

AvenueQ · 22/08/2019 19:06

Totally agree about the cringe and yuck but would they be angry?

OP posts:
PasDeGeeGees · 22/08/2019 19:06

Offended? Utterly horrified, more like.

AvenueQ · 22/08/2019 19:09

Dh said it as a clearly totally misjudged joke and dd is raging about it.
They don't get on well at the best of times but I don't know how to put this right, I'm so angry at dh for making her feel uncomfortable

OP posts:
Pringlemunchers · 22/08/2019 19:11

How old ? Could you imagine your parents , in your pool doing that ?? Noooooo

ineedaholidaynow · 22/08/2019 19:11

In what way is DD raging about it?

Was he being serious?

FenellaMaxwell · 22/08/2019 19:12

Grim!! Did he say it in public?

AvenueQ · 22/08/2019 19:12

No he wasn't being serious but she's angry that he made her feel uncomfortable

OP posts:
Pringlemunchers · 22/08/2019 19:13

They would feel excluded , rank and something that they really liked spoiled.

Pinkblueberry · 22/08/2019 19:13

They’d make a bit of an ewww wtf face, but I’m sure they wouldn’t be angry Confused

Haggisfish · 22/08/2019 19:14

Is he dd’s dad?

Pringlemunchers · 22/08/2019 19:14

My parents always did this ( can you tell )

AvenueQ · 22/08/2019 19:14

It was not in any way meant as an actual proposition

OP posts:
WorraLiberty · 22/08/2019 19:14

What the actual fuck?

You're angry at your DH because your DD is 'raging' about it? Confused

'Grow up DD' and then ignore the drama, would be the way to go here.

I can't believe you're angry at your DH because your DD has chosen to take offence.

kenandbarbie · 22/08/2019 19:14

No they'd think it was revolting but they wouldn't be angry

Nowisthemonthofmaying · 22/08/2019 19:15

Well it's cringey but her being furious is an overreaction - it's not like he said 'you need to get out of the pool so I can shag your mother in it'! Nothing wrong with skinny dipping Confused

daisypond · 22/08/2019 19:15

Offended? No. A bit embarrassed maybe, at a push - but only because I’m struggling to come up with reasons. Why would your DD be raging about it? I don’t get it.

MaybeitsMaybelline · 22/08/2019 19:15

Maybe it’s our family’s sense of humour but if we said it our kids would shrug and simply say “ugh I hope you are joking”

... but they would know we were joking anyway so would not even acknowledge 5e joke.

Why would your DD be raging about a joke, and on a no,i day that she didn’t pay for?

I accept teens are easily embarrassed, but raging? She has no right to rage and she needs t9 get a sense of humour.

Teensruletheroost · 22/08/2019 19:15

Is your DH her dad?
If so, it’s just yucky thought. If not then in a way it’s worse as it’s waiting to get rid of DD and also talking about sexual activity with her mum. Yuk to both.

Either way it’s not an appropriate joke to make.

Pinkblueberry · 22/08/2019 19:15

Your DD is being over the top, I don’t see why it’s up to you to put it right or why your angry with your DH. Like you say it sounds like they have quite a fractured relationship already, otherwise she probably wouldn’t react that way. It’s just part of a bigger issue.

MaybeitsMaybelline · 22/08/2019 19:16

Apologies for the iPad predictive

SeaBear11 · 22/08/2019 19:16

Let me guess, he’s not her father. I would hate that, I’m not surprised she’s upset.
