Tattoo on the Face

I'm considering getting a very small tattoo on my face. Q1: What are your thoughts on facial tattoos generally?
I'm considering getting a small star tattoo beside and below the eye at the top of the cheek bone. Q2: What are your opinions on this? If my partner had an identical tattoo on his face, in exactly the same place as I have one what would your views be on this?

First thought is i like it on kat von d, wouldnt match to your partner though. Id buy one of these first and try it out. I wouldnt judge you for a face tat at all

Hollytruelove · 31/03/2019 21:13

@Hopll 20:22 wow! What a Legend! You are a free spirit. That is a fantastic thing. Well done you. Superb comment and so true. You are on the ball. Observant, smart and you got it. You only live once. Go for what makes you happy. Live for your happiness

No no no no. U will regret it. People will make assumptions about u instantly. Stare at u.

Not to mention as u get older oh my can u imagine a 70yr old with a face tattoo 🙈😂

hopll · 31/03/2019 21:54

@Shelbybear what is wrong with a 70 year old having a face tattoo? Not really sure why you find it so funny? For a start, it isn't your life or body and if you don't like it then don't look and move on. Everybody is different and nobody needs to judge or ridicule anyone with different taste.

hopll · 31/03/2019 21:54

@Hollytruelove thank you! As are you x

StarlingsEverywhere · 31/03/2019 21:59

I’d think you weren’t very bright, because you’d chosen to do something permanent to your face that would make life difficult. Or possibly that you worked in a tattoo shop and had done it because you were determined to make it difficult for you to work in a more corporate/mainstream environment.

Thankssomuch · 31/03/2019 22:00

Prison and/or have killed someone. It’s not a judgment it’s just what that tattoo would signify to me. It may be that it’s an image that you feel you want to project.

MargotLovedTom1 · 31/03/2019 22:13

"We just happen to be more daring, open minded and edgy than most."

Or fucking daft.
Also hopll how many 70 year old punks do you see, with full on face piercings and mohawks and PVC trousers and fishnet tops? Not many, because most people tend to grow out of their 'daring and edgy' phase as they get older. Therefore a 70 year old with a tattoo on her face would probably turn heads, especially if coupled with M&S slacks, Skechers slip ons and a Cotton Traders anorak.
I expect this is where you say to me I obviously live in Boringville, because in your neck of the woods you can't move for tattooed OAPs in bondage gear.

hopll · 31/03/2019 22:19

@MargotLovedTom1 But why does it bother you so much? I find it absolutely hilarious how someone else's lifestyle bothers people so muchGrin why can people not let people live how they want to? So what if someone has a small face tattoo in their 70s and don't dress in a stereotypical punk way? That doesn't effect who they are. What if they don't regret it at all? Then it's only you with the problem. If someone chooses to make that decision for themselves then really no one should be bothered. Care and worry about yourself, I'm sure everyone here could judge you for a decision you've made but I like to think people have some respect and aren't do judgemental and closed minded! I don't come from a background where face tattoos are common at all, and my parents would probably question my choice but wouldn't tell me it's completely wrong? It's called respect and minding your own business.

stanski · 31/03/2019 22:41

Love tattoos but you'll have all sorts of issues with work in future If it's on your face. Don't do it

Tavannach · 31/03/2019 22:43

Use some kind of temporary tattoo for a year and if you still want to do it ...
I wouldn't.

MargotLovedTom1 · 31/03/2019 22:52

It doesn't bother me; people can do whatever they want to themselves and I don't dwell on the choices of others. The OP was canvassing opinions on tattoos on the face, and along with many on here my reaction is not positive. I don't lie awake at night thinking about it though!
My opinion might also be influenced by friends (average mid 40s women) who had tattoos done when young and 'rebellious' but now hate them and never wear anything which exposes them. One has also had unsuccessful laser removal which left her with some scarring.

StillNotMe · 31/03/2019 23:02

Kate von D has face tattoos and they really suit her.

Unless you're in a similar profession, I wouldn't do it.

People will judge. I would judge and I have tattoos, some ugly and old but I can cover them up if I want to.

hopll · 31/03/2019 23:04

@MargotLovedTom1

Great. At the end of the day I don't care if it bothers you or not because if you have issues then that's your problem, not mine or anyone else's! The way you harshly worded your first message towards me seemed very snobbish, calling it 'fucking daft' to get a face tattoo. I was just clearly saying each to their own and that people can be very judgemental these days, why can't people just accept everyone for who they are?! If your opinion is that it's a bad idea, then that's absolutely fine. But rudely saying it's fucking daft is different to saying that you wouldn't advise it because of societies opinions and friends experiences.

ShpliffenShploffen · 31/03/2019 23:06

Tbh you'd be pissing in the wind getting angry at people who'd judge the owner of a face tattoo. For every one person who thinks 'wow, that's a bit cool and different', 500 more will think 'baaaaaad idea'. That's just the way it is. Even heavily tattooed people generally avoid the face.

PersonaNonGarter · 31/03/2019 23:07

Don’t get a face tattoo. People who don’t care about tattoos (me) will judge you for being a bit stupid. A face tattoo will limit options without opening doors, and that is, well, just not great decision making.

QueenEhlana · 31/03/2019 23:13

You don't honestly sound like you want real opinions, you only want the opinions of those who think like you and are 'wow, so cool and amazing'.

Go and get the tat and enjoy it. No one else has to like it, or you, which I'm sure you will discover very quickly. But hey, you'll be cool and edgy and a free spirit living her life.... Hmm

Starlight456 · 31/03/2019 23:16

For the reason so many have mentioned.

It is generally known as prison or a murderer .

So while someone may be setting ups business but still meet clients or businesses fail. I have a tattoo but can be covered if necessary.

ahtellthee · 31/03/2019 23:24

No. My tattoos are also hidden.

FryingTonight · 31/03/2019 23:25

That's why all 'old' people look exactly like their grandparents did 100 years ago. What's that all about? As soon as you get to a certain age you're expected to dress and look a certain way. Give me a blue rinse. I'm 55 and no way do I want to look like the OAP's I see on a daily basis. Stay young forever. That's my approach and that is why I got a tat on my face last week.

Hollytruelove · 31/03/2019 23:25

Let's stay respectful to each other on here please everyone?
Thank you.

OP posts:
sushisuperstar · 31/03/2019 23:28

I'd be interested in asking why you got it. I'm more interested in discovering if someone is a nice person to know rather than focusing and make assumptions on aesthetic choices TBH

hopll · 31/03/2019 23:29

@FryingTonight good for you! Love that attitude

editingfairy · 31/03/2019 23:31

Well, op, you have only responded positively to the two people out of 140 who said that facial tattoos are a good thing.

Make of that what you will!

FryingTonight · 31/03/2019 23:36

@ShpliffenShploffen
Just because the majority think it's a bad idea doesn't mean that one should comply with the majority. What sort of world would it be if that was the norm? Why should you let others dictate what you want to do? And, (Check out the Maoris and other tribes that do it). Why is a facial tattoo a bad thing? Bring it down to basics.
