Lots of threads on at the moment for us- maybe we should have our own topic!

deaddei · 21/12/2009 12:01

Pjs- there's a market waiting to be tapped.
I want mix and match bits- a 16/18 top and 12/14 bottoms.
I LONG for floor skimming ones.

The strappy vest tops/camisoles from Primark are wonderful for us tall people - long in the body AND adjustable straps... and only about £3

figrollinthehay · 21/12/2009 14:11

Feeling a short-arse here at only 5ft 9 inches. Shall go and find thread for vertically challenged ...

CMOTdibbler · 21/12/2009 16:01

I'm 5'10", 12-14, but have size 5.5 feet. DH (6'3") says I look like I have hooves when wearing some boots.

I am liking the Next tall range too - my jumper dress today comes down to my knees.

The only thing I like about Miranda, is that I never see anyone who looks like me on TV or mags - tall and broad, rather than willowy if tall. Makes me feel better about how I look in photos

gibba8 · 21/12/2009 19:17

thelunar66- Next tall range pj's are very long and reasonably priced.

prettyfly1 · 21/12/2009 20:13

me. me can I join too!

ISaw3SkipsComeSailingIn · 22/12/2009 10:37

Hellooo! Another 6-footer here, 7.5-8 in the shoe department and somewhere round a size 16 at the moment . Damn middle-age spread!

I tried complaining to LTS about their prices once, seeing as a lot of their clothes in the early days looked like they were made for drag queens. Needless to say they didn't take much notice... Loving DP and New Look at the moment, especially as I get a student discount. My dream is to get handmade clothes though, I lived in Hong Kong for a couple of years and actually had cheap clothes that fit! Meanwhile I'll live in jeans and mens' tops, tres chic.

CuppaTeaJanice · 22/12/2009 11:07

I'm a shortarse too at 5'9". Someone said that shops won't let you be tall and large - well they won't let you be tall and skinny either! Most size 8 stuff is proportioned for petite people, with short arms, belt loops at the bust, ankle-swinging trousers etc.

My feet are only 6, but stupidly skinny AA, so in the summer I have to wear mule-type sandals in size 4 to get the right width.

I buy most of my basic tops, vests etc from Primark - cheap and long. Jeans from New Look, although I only have 33" legs so might not be long enough for some of you! I recently found some leggings which are actually too long for me. They were from La Redoute and cost about £9.

AvrilH · 22/12/2009 13:13

So tall people basically can't come in a range of shapes - we can't be skinny, can't be curvy, can't be pregnant, can't have narrow feet....

deaddei · 22/12/2009 13:28

My issue with clothes manufacturers is....we can't change our height- tis the way the good lord made us. So why aren't more companies realising there is a huge market out there for well made, well priced clothes! Brand loyalty would be amazing!
At the end of the day, lots of stores do petite ranges, and plus size ranges.
We're lucky to get the odd bit.

You'd think that, as most models are nearly 6' or taller, designers would be used to making clothes for tall people. I guess by the time it's filtered down to the high street it's been adapted for shorter people.

deaddei · 22/12/2009 19:56

Apparently. when Erin O'Connor modelled for M & S, everything was made longer for her

OP posts:
serenity · 22/12/2009 21:49

M&S are painful... It might just be me (I do have a long body, and a high waist) but their trouser are so short in the crotch that the waistband digs into my hips. It's not that the waist is tight, it's just the way that it can't actually sit on my waist and is pulled downwards. I've given up on them really what with that and no longer doing 20 in a longer length anyway.

CMOTdibbler · 22/12/2009 21:57

Loads of really good reductions in the Next sale in their Tall section btw

I wanted to get a couple of dresses from Next, but never ordered them as I hadn't bought anything from there for so long I had no idea why size I was (and so many shops seem to be messing about with their sizes)

Can anyone help me? If I'm a size 8-10 in M&S (10 on top) and a 38 in Zara with a medium top, what would I be in Next?

CMOTdibbler · 23/12/2009 20:46

I'd go for a 10 then WahWah. You can always order in both sizes and return what doesn't fit.

Have just ordered two new suits and a top from Next - grand total of 50 quid, which I am v pleased with

HinnyPet · 23/12/2009 20:51

Ive just ordered this dress here and as I am a bit taller than DH I could do with some advice as to which shoes to wear with it on New Years Eve?

(I have posted already on seperate post! apologies!!)

mehgalegs · 23/12/2009 21:01

Hello tall ladies. I am 6ft 2 with size 10 feet. Thanks for the links on this thread, hadn't heard of after 8 before and I am in desperate need of some new boots.

thelunar66 · 23/12/2009 21:05

Oooh hinny, I love that dress.

Shoes though... hmm.. I've been finding Next ones quite good.

HinnyPet · 23/12/2009 22:15

I do have over a week to get to Next so maybe I'll try there - hopefully something in the sale ....

giddyupRudolph · 23/12/2009 22:17

My Next jeans have arrived and I am in love. Bootcut, perfect length and slightly higher waist than normal to keep my wobbly belly in place. And best of all, only £20.
