Lots of threads on at the moment for us- maybe we should have our own topic!

ooh Giddyup I need a new pair of jeans like a hole in the heed but I'll have a look there!!

gibba8 · 27/12/2009 18:57

So what did all you tall ladies get in the sales?
I have ordered about £100 worth of stuff from the Tall range in the Next directory. Really wanted a coat from the Tall range but none left
Few bits I was interested in from LTS were sold out without minutes of receiving the email to say the sale had started. Still need to look at New Look and DP tall range sales!

Beauregard · 27/12/2009 20:33

I have ordered tons of stuff from Next whether it ever turns up though is another matter.

thelunar66 · 31/12/2009 11:12

right.. I've been and got my Primark PJs. they reach my ankles!!! And seem good quality too. Only £5 a pair.

TejasGal · 01/01/2010 23:37

Does anyone wear size 8.5 shoes? I can't find them anywhere... I'm not an 8 (painfully small) and my feet shuffle round too much in 9s (giving me blisters).

And another thing...how come the larger shoes get, the uglier they become?? I want the cute shoes, just longer.

deaddei · 02/01/2010 21:14

After 8 sale crap. So went to Wallis and bought a lovely black/orange tunic dress thing, with pockets.
Lovely with high boots andleggings.

www.very.co.uk have 35" jeans for less than £20 in their sale, and £20 in non-sale ranges.

www.duoboots.com do shoes over size 8 and in a wide range of calf fittings.

Where can I get a jumper with long enough arms though?

HarrogateMum · 03/01/2010 14:33

may I join you? 5 foot 11...mainly buy jeans/trousers from Top Shop Tall, DP Tall, New Look Tall and just ordered some white linen trews from Next Tall - the fit is great but they are sooo long and I normally need a 36 inch inside leg, will have to get my mum to take them up a bit!

Re PJs - only place I've had them long enough so far is LTS ones, but have orderd next ones and awaiting their arrival with bated breath....

deaddei · 03/01/2010 18:17

Hello HarrogateMum- I always wanted to live there.
Next only sell them in packs don't they- I need 14 bottom and 18 top!

PrammyMammy · 04/01/2010 14:13

Hello :D, i am 5 ft 11, size 12/14 with size 5 feet (and i do trip up a lot). I live in skinny jeans mainly but leggings and jeggings sometimes. I find it hard to find jeans so when i do find a good pair i buy two. I have large hips and skinny thighs so a 14 fits at the top and leaves me with big baggy legs and a 12 sometimes fit. Someone told me to wear my jeans in a cold bath, but i have never been brave enough to try. Topshop tall is my fave, bought some Gap 'Long and Lean' jeans after hearing someone praise them (prob on here)but they don't sit well after about an hours wear.

deaddei · 13/01/2010 10:51

Just had the LTS catalogue with its usual selection of crap.
How can they produce this overpriced unflattering stuff?
Drab long skirts with elasticated waists ffs.
Only thing I might order is wellies (size 10!) and some decent looking grey striped linen trousers.
Nasty, nasty, nasty.

OP posts:
HarrogateMum · 13/01/2010 14:06

not had mine yet, think they have probably taken me off the mailing list as I havent ordered for so long! Got my pjs from Next which are really long but nice for summer (floaty rathe than warm!), also got some slouchy indigo trousers, too long unbelievably so my Mum is taking them up! Not in the sale mind you....

wahwah · 13/01/2010 19:02

Re LTS I always find it's full of middle age filler, but their shift dresses are great for work and wash well. Used to like their work shirts until my boobs disappeared. I am a bit biased as I've always got a few nice things from them

gibba8 · 13/01/2010 20:34

Next have withdrawn their Tall Range from my local store. There is a HUGE section for the petite range and none for us tallies - I am gutted!

Ladyem · 14/01/2010 09:32

Must admit I've bough a couple of tops in the LTS sale (mostly £5!!) and they are a lot nicer in real life than in the catalogue. I think they are ok for the basics, then I bring it up to trend with stuff from other high street tall ranges. Just got the Next catalogue for the first time and they have a few nice things in the tall range. It will be better once I've finished breast feeding (from a style point of view!! ) as then I'll have much more choice!

deaddei · 21/01/2010 20:04

Anyone bought anything nice recently? I could do with some inspiration.....

OP posts:
mrsdisorganised · 21/01/2010 20:13

Brilliant thread! Can I join too, I'm 5 11 and need inspiration as well as finding somewhere to buy taller clothes from that doesn't cost a ridiculous amount!
Will watch with interest!

thelunar66 · 21/01/2010 20:16

Got the LTS catalogue, but nothing in there inspires me. This is a Very Good Thing, as I am busy participating in the 'buy nothing new until Easter' thread.

Am digging deep in my wardrobe and discovering stuff I'd forgotten about and revamping with belts, scarves etc.

Fleecy · 21/01/2010 23:09

Hi Lunar - I'm on that thread too. I'm currently putting a wish-list together, so when I start buying again, I know what I'm going to buy and don't make any rash purchases.

So my question to everyone here is... what are your favourite jeans? I want some really nice quality ones that will last. Budget not a problem (cos I will have lots of money saved up due to no clothes buying at the moment )

I usually buy DP or New Look Tall but want something better quality.

thelunar66 · 21/01/2010 23:41

Gap long and lean, but you have dig around to find long leg ones, thereby messing up their lovely tidy shop.

I have some LTS skinny jeans, but I find them a bit weird around the waist area. They give me a muffin top that Gap ones never do.

deaddei · 28/01/2010 19:55

Anyone had the Tallgirls spring brochure?
Clothes are so expensive- and not exactly inspiring.

OP posts:
MarthaFarquhar · 28/01/2010 20:07

I am 5'9" but with obscenely long torso - ordinary trousers are ok, but need super-long tops.

Good purchases recently have been GAP favourite 3/4 sleeve T shirt, GAP camis and primark long red and black stripey cardi - very dennis the menace . primark have a lot of good longer knits ATM, both boyfriend style and more fitted, but good length.

M & S also have some "tall" swimwear at the moment. TBH it is fairly dull, but much cheaper than LTS or the other specialist shops, which are no more inspiring.

BendyBob · 28/01/2010 20:12

Ooh how come I've only just seen this? I'm 5 10, well possibly 5 9 these days. I seem to have shrunk as I get older

Agree, agree with deaddei re LTS! It just doesn't hit the spot for some reason. And the clothes have names..I find that most strange.

annabelcaramel · 28/01/2010 20:23

I'm 5'9, but long of leg rather than body (my legs are not great so this is not as good as it sounds!) - I have made the 7/8th look my own - trousers that are almost there but not quite! Good look with flat shoes. So agree about LTS - I have some bits from years ago I still wear, but recently so so frumpy and bad quality. Wallis quite good for the lanky of limb I find.

Fleecy · 28/01/2010 22:33

Thanks for the Gap long and lean tip - I'd forgotten all about them. My oldest jeans are from that range and I love them. They're too worn and faded to wear except around the house but they're fab.

Good idea!
