hinnypet....i find them less expensive than a and f.....sale will be on soon too.

Milliways · 19/12/2009 00:03

Dorothy Perkins have a Tall Range as well - got my last work suit there (5 ft 9.5 here, size 7 feet)

Ronaldinhio · 19/12/2009 00:09

5"10/11 seem to be shrinking
large of nork and long of body so only 33 inch inner leg
arms like a gibbon

serenity · 19/12/2009 00:20

Oooh, hello! Just under 5'10" here, long body so OK in longer length trousers, but overweight so I have the same problem as some others, that tall size 20 is hard to find unless you do online shopping (but then it's a pita - I like to see clothes I'm buying) Size 9 feet but not EEE fitting (hello most shops) so I find shoe shopping annoying as my feet swim in the wider ones. Also very skint so can't afford places such as LTS (I should invest I know, but hate spending money on myself)

I would like to be able to go into a shoe shop and choose the shoes I like and then buy them. Doesn't work like that though!

Funniest moment I had was trying on a swimming costume where the top came under my breasts - don't think that would have gone down too well at local swimming pool.

MarthaFarquhar · 19/12/2009 08:57

only 5'9" but obscenely long in the body
have real diificult getting tops long enough and I am actually considering getting a couple of bump bands to cover the gaps even though I'm not pregnant.

and where on earth do you all get your swimsuits?

MarthaFarquhar · 19/12/2009 08:58

difficulty, even.

hippipotamiHasLost77lbs · 19/12/2009 09:20

golgi - I can't find a swimming costume either. They need to be long of body and allow for big norkage - apparently tall big boobied women don't go swimming
Had a hideeous wardrobe malfunction at a water workout class where I bounced my breasts over the top of my costume. Mortifying and have not been back since

tackyChristmastreedelivery · 19/12/2009 10:12

So tall women - can't float and don't reproduce.

Maybe it's hormonal?

It's all very odd. I got some noppies maternity jeans which were just long enough. Bump bands are excellent! Or an old vest cut in half under the bump. Much cheaper

I got a friend a swim suit from Thw White Company, she is 6ft. SHe said it fitted, but maybe she was being polite? They are in the sale online if anyone wants to have a go, in 'offers' section I think. Brown halterneck, it's very nice. Don't shoot me if they only have a size 6 left.

I think Boden tops are made for people who are 5ft.

HinnyPet · 19/12/2009 13:03

Boden is for average people! Not amazons like us

deaddei · 19/12/2009 13:04

Swimsuits-aaargh!
I got 2 from Debenhams longer length last year in desperation, but they are not really long enough. I have size 16-18 bust and 14 bottom- so a good fit is a nightmare even if I didn't have a long body.

Ooh, a thread specifically for tall ladies

I am 5'10", size 8/9 feet and usually a size 14 (am currently 26 weeks pregnant). I used to be tall & skinny (size 8/10), but hitting my 30s, stopping smoking and travelling a lot for work put paid to that!

For pregnant ladies, Blossom jeans are fab - I had to take them up several inches. They are very expensive, however the pair I am wearing have lasted through 2 pregnancies and I only ever take them off to wash them (and to go to bed!). Far cheaper is Newlook...I don't mind the quality isn't great as they will only be needed for a few months.

deaddei · 19/12/2009 13:20

I can recommend Fatface for good sleeve length on their longer tunic tops- I bought 3 this autumn and they still look good after lots of washing.
My dream- to be able to go to a shop and get a complete outfit, with choice- not just bits and bobs from all over and pray they match .

feetheart · 19/12/2009 13:34

Excellent, a clique

I am 5'10", size 42 feet (so either an 8 or 9 depending on the shop!) size 12/14 and 33" leg.
Live in either Next or Per Una jeans (always grab anything labeled 14L in charity shops), bright vest tops and contrasting bright cardies but need warmer things now so have just bunged a hippy thick jumper over the top. I do wear a Boden crinkle cotton dress summer and winter but this years one just doesn't fit, the 'under the boob' bit sits right across my chest as does the nice Joe Brown's tunic I have just got - do other people have their boobs right under their chins?!!

As for coats - argh!!

I am a Grumpy Old Tall Woman.

GetOrfMoiLand · 19/12/2009 13:36

I am 6 foot, size 9 feet. Legs aren't hugely long - Top Shop tall range is fine even with heels, it is my freakishly long body and orangutan arms which are difficult to buy clothes for.

Long Tall Sally is an utter waste of time, it is frumpsville. French Connection best 'normal' shop for long tops etc. Top Shop tall and (shamefacedly) Next skinny jeans (wear with flats so their tall length is long enough) are very good.

Never have a problem getting sze 9 shoes, New Look (the most comfortable high heeled shoeso n the High Stree) always has size 9, as does Faith and Primark. I remember when it used to be a complete nightmare even getting size 8s, my feet are cripped from spending majority of earlyt twenties hobbling about in size 7s.

Have never found a swimsuit that fit me. Or a body - remember when bodies were fashionable the first time round in the mid 90s they were so uncomfortable.

tackyChristmastreedelivery · 19/12/2009 14:06

OOOOO yes! The poppers popped everytime you sat down or bent over

Those are days I will never return too. Th ethought of my belly in a body

Boden - yes to band across boobs. I have a crinkle cross over top [£12 in sale what ya gonna do] and the band always rides up. Just not long enough in body.

Who can suggest a nice warm jumper, long sleeves and long ehough in body? Hoping for a neck of some sort. Totally fed up of supermarket v neck knits. Gah.

I have none of the highstreet names where I live, except for Next, M&S, NewLook and Matalan. We have a very poor TKMax. They are all quite small shops though. So I can't browse much - so you lot will have to shop for me

I'm nostalgic for bodies... Ok, they'd slice you in half, but they were the one guaranteed way of being able to wear tights without the crotch ending up halfway to your knees with 5 minutes.

Which is another gripe. Tights for tall people? Check. Tights for fat people? Check. Tights for me, who is ample in many directions? Not a chance. It's the main reason why I live in jeans. I swore I'd never do the leggings thing again but it's the only way to wear skirts I find.

Rindercella · 19/12/2009 15:28

Oh those bodies...wearing one of those, coupled with jeans too short in the crotch area = spending the night trying to look cool and attractive, but actually being in extreme agony! Tis a wonder I ever managed to have children after spending several years in the 90s thus

norfolkBRONZEturkey · 19/12/2009 15:29

I'm in

Knee high boots!! where
my calves arent huge and all the longer ones have huge calf sizes plus they always have a ridiculous heel and I'm not made of money

I'm only 5ft 11 and shrinking
I feel for my aunt who is over 6ft 2

norfolkBRONZEturkey · 19/12/2009 15:29

oh and Im only a size 7 so not bigger feet

I buy tights several sizes too big so I can stretch them upwards.

It's the shoe thing that really annoys. I'm a 42 too. This used to be a size 8 in many shops, until they decided that a size 8 was 41 and therefore I can't buy shoes there any more.

I'm afraid I wear men's clothes quite often - trousers, trainers etc. I wear cast-offs from my husband and my dad!
