Did anyone else dress their babies in babygros all day every day until they were 11/12 months old?

I put some of DS baby clothes in the paper stating that it was mostly vests, babygrows and a few outfits. A lady rang up and said she wanted to come and see them. When she got here she said,

"Oh is that all the outfits you've got?"

I said "Yes I did put in the advert there weren't many. He didn't start wearing proper clothes until the next size. Until then my DS wore babygros all day every day pretty much" .

With a goldfish type face "What even when you went out?"

"Erm, yes"

Was I weird in doing that? No one ever commented if I was!!

I started off with sleepsuits all day every day. Now DS is 10 weeks, I've promoted him to rompers - putting on those socks makes all the difference

My SiL dresses her baby - 12 weeks - in full on outfits including hats and shoes. Each to their own but never understood the need for baby shoes when they can't yet walk.

Pleased to have found this thread- dressed DS in trouser/cardi combo the other day (a gift that he mus wear at least once before it is too small!) and got 3 comments from people at baby group saying how he looked so much more grown up/different! Made me realise I just dress him in babygros all the time. But he's a baaaaaabyyy... he has his whole life to wear jeans... never again will he pull off a white terry footed babygro with such aplomb!

TK Max for Katvig definately. It is fab quality and so cheap in TK. I heart TK Max!

thumbwitch · 23/03/2009 14:50

Only til DS was about 7mo, actually - then I was out and about with him wearing one and someone said - oh he's still in his pyjamas

I don't think it was entirely that, but I did start to feel less comfortable about taking him out in the babygros - they started to look more like nightclothes and less like outside clothes the bigger he got.

MargotBeauregardesGavel · 23/03/2009 16:48

I did! Occassionally somebody would say "she's not dressed". I used to say, oh no, and she has a job interview in an hour

moshie · 23/03/2009 19:57

I did for the first few months then noticed his feet getting squashed so changed to lovely mix and match sweatshirts, joggers and dungarees from Mothercare in lots of bright colours.( This was along time ago now, sigh )
I'd had enough of all those bloody poppers by then too.

NotAnOtter · 23/03/2009 22:57

went to tk max especially for those suits but sob sob none there

do they come and go?

nappyaddict · 23/03/2009 23:04

NAO do you have a TK Maxx on a retail park rather than in a town centre or shopping centre. I find the ones in the town/shopping centre run out of the good stuff quick and always get better stuff on the retail park one.

Margot - how old was she when she stopped wearing them in the day?

that would be so kind Lockets ! (obsessing slightly about them )

thumbwitch · 24/03/2009 01:18

I love leggings with feet - had to go to JoJoMamanBebe and Blooming Marvellous to buy some though, as none of the cheaper local shops did them. I use them still on DS because he tends to remove his socks and then gets icy cold feet. I think they are lovely (especially the scarlet plush ones I got over Christmas!) and very sensible.

Now he is walking outside more, he tends to wear non-footed leggy things with socks and shoes, but quite often I'll change him into his footed leggies when we get back in. He sleeps in babygros still - I can't see me putting him in pyjamas for a while yet cos he wriggles too much and I know I can't stand being knotted up in clothes, and I don't think he likes it much either.

Style & Beauty is an interesting topic to post this in ...

Well, it is a bit weird, if I'm honest. But then, we all have a weirdo tendencies

MamacitaGordita · 24/03/2009 08:19

NotAnOtter how annoying- they have always had Katvig when I've gone to TK but one branch I go to tends to have more, and like all their stuff it does fluctuate. I find the less money I have/the more I go just to browse annd not buy, the more goodies and bargains there are! Keep checking...

lockets I saw that stripey Katvig babygro in TK Max and was going to get it for my DS but had a last minute waver over the colours (DH thought it was a bit girly but then he is colourblind!) annoyed I didn't go for it now!

nappyaddict · 24/03/2009 09:12

Desi why is it weird to post it in this topic? I always post anything to do with clothes in this section.

Nabu is a website that only sells babygros- hideously pricey but a good way of seeing what stock TK Max will be getting in a few months' time!

NotAnOtter · 24/03/2009 11:50

ds4 (3) still in babygros at night!

elkiedee · 24/03/2009 19:34

Here's a link to leggings for bobbyswish, and to some stripy baby clothes which I thought might appeal to NotAnOtter - they're not cheap but they're less expensive than the Nordic baby clothes place.

For any other babygrow lovers, pop down to M and S if you get the chance. I got ds a pack of 3 12-18 month babygrows in the sale today for £3. Nothing special but brilliant for when I actually am using them as pyjamas

NotanOtter · 24/03/2009 22:03

thanks elkiedee

am still obsessing and considering paying full price for those velour stripry things

ooh ebay... will check it out!

thumbwitch · 24/03/2009 22:13

ooh ta littlelamb - I need some of those so will be off to local M&S tomorrow!
