Olivia Colman’s newly grown long grey hair

Madamefroufrou · 30/09/2026 10:27

This time last year she sported her usual brunette wavy pixie cut showing
all of her face.
This week she has long crinkly shades of grey hair we are led to believe
she has grown in twelve months, embracing the grey/natural ageing.
Does anyone have an opinion on this phenomenon or believe this heavy
hanging hank of hair looks attractive, or is it perhaps a Statement.

I think she always looks good, she doesn't typify the 'normal' standard of Hollywood glamour or leading actor looks and that's what's refreshing.

Also I love it when people rock and embrace their grey hair (if it is all her hair), the only thing I would say which probably puts me in the 'being bitchy' category is that it is a little 'thirsty' looking!!!

DeftGoldHedgehog · 30/09/2026 13:37

Actors change their hair a lot. It suits her more than the pixie cut AFAIC.

No women in their 50s doesn’t have grey hair.

Mine is hardly grey at all at 51. Not significantly greyer than fifteen years ago anyway, it's very gradual.

Growlybear83 · 30/09/2026 13:37

I think her hair looks lovely, whether it’s natural or extensions. it’s really refreshing to see someone accepting that they are getting older and not trying to disguise it by dying their hair. I don’t think grey hair is ageing at all if it’s well cared for

Don’t be lazy, just google 😂

I don’t think it’s lazy for a poster to request a photo, if a post is about something like a specific hairstyle doesn’t include said photo.

DeftGoldHedgehog · 30/09/2026 13:44

The reason I dye my hair is the very few greys there near my parting are are dry and the texture of pubes. Fuck that.

Jklellls · 30/09/2026 13:46

I think it looks great and really suits her. I don't care if it is extensions or not. In fact, if it is extensions I think it's really cool!

Edited

I’m 65 and not grey. My mother didn’t go grey either and she was nearly 90! Shame really as I quite fancy having long silver locks. 😁

Yes, my MIL is 82 and she has only gone grey in the last few years. Still quite brown really and she doesn't dye her hair.

Never mind her grey extensions look at the smile on the red carpet pics. Her trademark very gummy smile has vanished!

I have an opinion on the phenomenon of insecure / attention seeking arseholes starting threads with the sole purpose of attacking women for committing the sin of aging whether that be through ‘looking older’ or having grey hair, if it interests you @Madamefroufrou.

I also have an opinion on the usual self-hating disguised as bucking the ‘trend’ crew who turn up like clockwork to crow about their own slavery to beauty trends as if it’s a badge of honour.

Beauty trends set by men who value women only for how youthful they can appear. Set by men who devalue them once they age regardless. The Epstein files are full of these men who through media and power have contributed to the beauty ideal for women being eternal youth. Men who are also known to be predators and/or peadophiles.

It’s quite a feat of brainwashing to see women calling having grey or short hair a ‘trend’ and not attractive as aging is a recent invention. Dye your hair or don’t, have Botox or don’t. But don’t attack the women who are happy to age without performing youth at all costs because you deem your only value to be youth.

WTF is a gummy smile?

You sound really cross about Olivia Colman's hair OP.

No she probably didn't grow her hair that long in a year but thousands of women have hair extensions, why do you think she's somehow defrauding the public by having them?

I think it really suits her, she looks great.

I saw it here https://www.instyle.com/olivia-colman-52-flaunts-longest-hair-decade-embraces-grays-curls-12146387

now I saw her not long ago in real life and her hair wasn’t like that…

Her hair in that picture reminds me of a badger.

Justaquestionplease · 30/09/2026 10:46

It is trendy to say grey hair looks good particularly on these boards. Just as it's trendy to say pixie cuts look great. It's rare either of these things look good and irl vast majority of women don't want grey or very short hair because it isn't particularly flattering.

I don't know if it's trendy to say, but the women I know rock the hell out of a pixie, as well as greys.

To quote the OP, is it that you think this is 'perhaps a Statement'?

For a long while I dreamt of having long silver hair but it just refuses to comply. I think brown hair can look quite severe on older people so it annoys me no end my hair is a rather flat brown still at 65. I am thinking of having it lightened a couple of shades to soften it up.

Whenthecriwdsayno · 30/09/2026 13:53

She looks so much younger

Itsniceoutside · 30/09/2026 13:56

It is stunning!!! But yes I’d be shocked if she grew that naturally!!

That would probably look nice. My grey hair has come in streaks, which I quite like, so there are streaks of dark brown and white. I like it!

You won't be bullied? Expressing an opinion isn't bullying.

‘believe this heavy hanging hank of hair looks attractive’

I do think that she looks very attractive both with her ‘heavy hanging hank of hair’ or her usual style.

WTF is a gummy smile?

I presume it is a smile that shows your gums? Some people smile like that. Some people don't.
