Yes or no to lounge sets?

This would be for mainly wearing in the house, but might pop to the shops in it. It's not the sort of thing I usually go for but thought it would look better than pyjamas when someone pops round unexpectedly, or when I want to be comfy at home but still look stylish enough to have a guest round.

Would love those who think not to give me some suggestions on what to wear instead. Currently wearing yoga pants and sweatshirts for loungewear but it looks a bit scruffy and not something I would be seen in out of the house! It's not my style- I'm usually a smartly dressed when out but sometimes it would be nice not to need to get changed before popping out somewhere.

Don’t you have any old clothes? I can’t get my head around buying new clothes to sit around in at home. I was forced to buy ‘loungewear’ during lockdown because all my old stuff turned to rags after repeated wear - but in general I honestly don’t see the point. I’d much rather save the money for the good stuff I wear outside the house.

I’m afraid I wouldn’t pay anything at all for modal and polyester.

I'm currently wearing the autograph dark chocolate brown one. It's basically a track suit. I have no issue leaving the house in it and its super comfy.

Brilliant, can you tell me what the fit is like as I can't decide if I need the long length trousers - I'm 5'7" and sometimes get a longer leg depending on the fit?

I'm thinking of pairing the cream top with the dark brown bottoms?

1000% yes love… as long as hair and make up has been done can look great

No- old stuff wouldn't necessarily be good for lounging in. I want soft fabrics, elasticated waistbands and to feel nice in it too.

I wear soft cords and a thick t-shirt. In summer I wear a comfortable cotton dress.

Super comfy but I felt like the detail on the jumper made it less ‘pyjama’ like and so more acceptable to wear out of the house. I’d still change for going anywhere other than the corner shop though!

I wear lounge sets from Varley. The Doublesoft range are so soft, cosy and comfortable to wear at home, for a dog walk or popping to the shops. I
wear jewellery with them if I’m going out to smarten them up a bit. They’re not cheap but so nice!

I don’t mind the trouser ones, the shorts/t-shirt combos remind me of toddlers outfits. Especially on men.

At home fine.

Ive been wearing it all day on teams calls and I'm in senior a professional role for an international company (we do dress down on fridays though). I do have a full face of make up and my hair done though. On me the legs are fractionally long but Ive just rolled over the waistband.

DH came in and said "Ooo, you look nice" so it obviously doesn't look scruffy.

Not for me.

Pyjamas, fair enough -everyone's allowed to be a slob from time to time - just don't pretend otherwise by wearing a fancy pants 'lounge set'.

That particular shade is doing a lot of heavy lifting this year. It's bloody awful!

I watched an "influencer" on Facebook prancing around in store promoting Tesco "lounge sets" and another showing M & S ones this afternoon and the Tesco ones looked really thin, polyester and seemed far more expensive than buying a softish top and the same colour bottoms. There has been another recent thread about "sets", where the OP had posted a River Island "set" for around £60 and that also looked really cheap material.
