Yes or no to lounge sets?

This would be for mainly wearing in the house, but might pop to the shops in it. It's not the sort of thing I usually go for but thought it would look better than pyjamas when someone pops round unexpectedly, or when I want to be comfy at home but still look stylish enough to have a guest round.

Are they stylish or are they tacky? I'm 53 if that's relevant? https://www.marksandspencer.com/modal-blend-sandwash-cropped-sweatshirt/p/clp61227265

I don’t wear anything around the house (temperature permitting) as I find that most comfortable, but I would wear that lounge set if I was just popping to the local shop etc, however I don’t think I’d choose that particular colour.

ToadRage · 26/09/2026 18:27

Can't really see the point of them, if I am not going anywhere and not expecting company I can stay in my pyjamas, if I am i get dressed properly. Don't need an in between outfit.

I must be a chav then as I have 3 lounge suits simlar to this and I wear them all the time comfy to work from home in and will also wear them out the house. Can't see a problem at all

Yeah me too & update one every year. Perfect wfh outfit & dog walk at lunchtime

Summerunlover · 26/09/2026 18:54

I love them they look smart and tidy, I wear them all the time.

HoldMeFlat · 26/09/2026 19:06

Absolutely love a lounge set. I have loads 😂 infact I don’t even buy pjs anymore. I practically live in them around the house. I’d probably pop to to fill up the car or nip in co-op for bread/milk in a couple of them. But wouldn’t do a whole shop or anything wearing one.

Yes! I hadn’t clocked this thing at all until I went on holiday, and every other bloke seems to be in these matching shirt and shorts set. Even with their little holiday man bags they all look like their mums are taking them to soft play 😂

I saw men dressed like this in the summer. I felt a bit mortified for them 🥴

Ha! I thought you meant a three-piece suite. Showing my age.

You’ve met that poster then? Dont be so bloody rude. So the lounge sets aren’t to your personal taste. Let’s see the kind of thing you enjoy wearing then.

pelara · 26/09/2026 19:58

Look ladies, I'm cheap but not rough. I won't pay for lounging around clothing that has a label.

I got a burgundy and a sand colour set in Primark. Butter soft honestly, I wear them separately and they look great and feel amazing on. So cream top/burgundy bottoms and vice versa. After that, what woman needs anything other than Chanel no. 5. 😊

PinkMagpie · 26/09/2026 20:37

Honestly there is no need to be nasty on this thread. If something isn’t your personal style that’s fine. Life would be dull if we all dressed the same

Mightymuscle · 26/09/2026 20:48

Sweat shirt and tracky bottoms look to me. The colour is yuck.

Ribenaberry12 · 26/09/2026 20:59

I’ve never been a fan of them. I think it’s that I don’t like being in just one plain colour top to toe. If I’m just around the house and not going out most of the time I’m in leggings and a dress or oversize jumper. Or, I got some lovely soft cord cargo trousers from Sainsbury’s ages ago and I’ll wear them with a sports sweatshirt.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 26/09/2026 21:07

No. Absolutely not. I'm seeing them everywhere and they just look so unimaginative.

Burgundy top and matching bottoms, everyone looking the same. Literally everywhere.

Is this also what everyone calls co-ords these days?

I mean, there were fashion trends in the 70's, 80's, 90's and Noughties, but I don't think everyone looked so identikit as they do today.

pattercare · 26/09/2026 21:11

I wear M&S cotton straight leg joggers in black or navy which are £16 round the house with just any top.

Illbethereinaminute · 26/09/2026 21:14

For me they are pyjamas depending on the set but they don't look like pyjamas so if I'm wearing them mid evening after a shower and realise I'm out of milk I can dash to the shop without getting changed.

Although tbh that isn't essential, I'm just looking for a comfy pair of pyjamas!

HoldMeFlat · 26/09/2026 21:43

hardshoulderr · 26/09/2026 19:47

Oh, this is so not chic.

I’m too old to care 🤣

AJLOAL · 26/09/2026 21:46

Nah, a bit grim and old lady looking for me.

mamaandbabas · 26/09/2026 21:49

I would be roasting hot in this at home (meno). Cotton seperates would be better.

PashaMinaMio · 26/09/2026 21:51

pokewomans · 25/09/2026 15:36

It’s just the new word for track suit!

Just buy a nice sweat shirt & a pair of elastic waist “rugby” pants, but not ankle-cuffed ones.
Comfy, warm and cozy.
Job done.

bittertwisted · 26/09/2026 22:09

BadBadCat · 25/09/2026 14:48

That's what I feared

Would love those who think not to give me some suggestions on what to wear instead. Currently wearing yoga pants and sweatshirts for loungewear but it looks a bit scruffy and not something I would be seen in out of the house! It's not my style- I'm usually a smartly dressed when out but sometimes it would be nice not to need to get changed before popping out somewhere.

It’s lovely, and the word ‘chavvy’ is the snobbery and condescending classism version of misogynistic ‘Karen’
I’m tiny and have loads of co-ords because busy, layered mismatch swamps me, I love matchy matchy

bittertwisted · 26/09/2026 22:16

fruitbrewhaha · 25/09/2026 16:05

No. I’m not keen. I’m all about comfort but this just looks like a tracksuit.

What is wrong with tracksuits?

SarahAndQuack · 26/09/2026 22:31

Awful, sorry.

Buy something that will actually make you feel happy to wear. This will feel as if you've given up on life. The colour is grim and the shape looks grim. There is no person in the world who looks good in a round-neck top.

Thank you for asking that question
