I debated whether to post this, as I know some people object to them, and they're not revealing the contents - but you're all adults so can just scroll by if not interested πŸ˜‚

Tropic Skincare BAC is available to pre-order. I assume only through ambassadors until it goes on sale properly?

Β£299, worth Β£668
25 items, including exclusives to the AC

DidILeaveTheGasOn · Yesterday 13:16

Ooh I'm not that familiar with Tropic stuff, what is it like? Luxury, mid range?

Also can anyone help me make a decision quickly on the Cowshed BAC? It's Β£299 but somehow two discounts have stacked in the Shop app and brought it to Β£254. It must be an error, I can't see the discount codes anymore but I remember trying two that they emailed me and only one worked at a time. Β£254 is tempting. I've never actually tried any of their products, am I just falling for the marketing?

Tropic is an MLM (hence PP alluding to the fact some people object to it). I think the stuff is actually okay, I remember the founder from when she was on the Apprentice. But it's a lot of money for a single brand calendar that doesn't represent a significant saving, especially if it's not a brand you know you love.

Ditto Cowshed tbh. I think of Cowshed as a Boots 3 for 2 brand, not a luxe one, although maybe that's a totally wrong perception.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · Yesterday 13:35

Thanks for the sanity @owlpassport! When the calendar was released, I saw a few videos of influencers tapping the products with their nails in a β€˜I’m obsessed’ way and it put me off. I think I’ll put the cash towards Selfridges instead.

CinderellaParker · Yesterday 13:37

I like the Cowshed products I've used (shower gel and a bit of body lotion) but like @owlpassport I think of it as a Boots brand, bit like their Champneys Spa range, and not as nice as say, Rituals. I might pick up their advent if it was very heavily discounted but personally, I wouldn't spend Liberty or Harrods-type money on it.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · Yesterday 13:47

That’s really helpful, thank you @CinderellaParker.

hellesbells · Yesterday 14:18

Does anyone else feel that this year’s calendars aren’t selling that well, Glossy box have theirs on TikTok shop already I wasn’t bothered with it put I bought it there this morning for Β£63.50 plus free shipping it full of fillers but worth that price for the commodity milk perfume, the Medik 8 serum, the Huda primer and Patrick Ta blush and the 19/99 Beauty cream highlighter stick

Thatsjustnotcrumble · Yesterday 14:19

For anyone waiting for the French Pharmacy advent calendar the page on their website has been updated with new images, although still showing as Β£195 and out of stock. I haven’t had an email about it despite being signed up for updates so not sure if it has come and gone in a blink of an eye or if it is being prepped for release shortly.

Thanks @Thatsjustnotcrumble , the website is showing contents now and the calendar launches tomorrow - Avec Amour | French Pharmacy Advent Calendar 2026 - Value Β£700 – The French Pharmacy

Thatsjustnotcrumble · Yesterday 14:29

That’s great news @owlpassport, thank you.

I was tempted by this one, but think I’m going to stick with my Frankenstein calendar for this year

That looks interesting. It has 2 SC Ptiox items which are on my wishlist to try. I was planning to try and get the serum in a Black Friday deal. They're only minis though so do I want to spend 195 just to get a couple of minis I'm interested in? Some of the other stuff looks nice too but nothing else jumps out.

I genuinely dont know how to, i saw a girl talking on there about getting it for that price so i went in and tiktok shop gave me vouchers to discount it to that.price, i think maybe if you keep going in and out of tiktok shop i am no expert on it but if i find out anything more i will come back and update

SoloCat · Yesterday 15:02

The French pharmacy always looks beautifully presented, although not for me this year.

grateful3 · Yesterday 15:12

Has anyone bought the Yepoda advent calendar and if so would you recommend it? I’ve never tried their products before but love the idea of the travel case and the burgundy colour.

NiceUnusualDifferent · Yesterday 15:21

Got an email from Tatcha for their advent calendar so had a look. Β£278 says a value of Β£287, im assuming a typo otherwise not really a saving. Cult keep emailing to apologise for not yet receiving my calendar (it came and week ago)

Donsyb · Yesterday 15:48

Although Tropic is an MLM, you can also buy directly on their site as well. But I do get why people may not want to buy from them.

I do like some of their products, and they don’t contain any nasty ingredients. I have a friend who sells it, and the thing I do like about it is you can try the products before buying, so can avoid some costly disappointments! However it’s a mixed bag, and I wouldn’t personally buy an AC at that price if I didn’t know the contents. However if someone wanted to buy it for me I’d be very happy πŸ˜‚

I actually really like Tropic stuff ... I just wouldn't pay Β£299 for a single brand calendar.

I think they are nice and I’ll happily use but I wouldn’t call them luxe. I also hate the feel of the labels. They have a roughness to them that gives me a nails down the blackboard feeling but I am aware that this is a me thing.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · Yesterday 16:39

Thank you @Beautyfox

What would folks consider a luxe, or above mid range company in this category - Rituals? Are there others? Liz Earle maybe?

Im not really brand loyal so use lots of different body products from across lots of different ranges. This is my favourite shower gel atm. It’s just wonderful. Annoyingly my DH, DS &DD have all decided to use it in the shower and comment how lovely it is so I now hide it!

https://www.libertylondon.com/uk/mandarin-shower-gel-250ml-000565270.html#pos=2

I would probably consider clarins mid range and are often my comparative products as they are often really good. So for me luxe has got to be better than clarins to be worth the price point.

Le Labo Mandarin Shower Gel 250ml | Liberty

This awakening shower gel from Le Labo celebrates simplicity with a harmonious blend of plant-based ingredients. Enriched with sesame oil, rosemary leaf and sun

@DidILeaveTheGasOn - I couldn’t believe the price of the Cowshed a/c. My exact thoughts were: Β΄Oh, Cowshed - interesting. Maybe Β£50 or so…’

Put it this way, it’s a good job I was sitting down when I saw the price!

I agree with @Beautyfox and @CinderellaParker - the products are nice enough but they are just everyday items imo - I don’t know where they have got that price from!

This is my personal view on a/c ranges with examples:

’Budget’ (relatively speaking):

MacMillan, (with the 50% discount)
Soap and Glory
Holland & Barrett
Guruum
Ted Baker

Budget to Mid:

M&S
GlossyBox
ASOS
Boots

Mid-range:

Rituals
YOU
Look Fantastic
Yepoda
Style Korean
Stylevana
PureSeoul
Clarins

Mid to Luxe:

Elle
John Lewis

Luxe: (In their own heads, anyway):

Cult Beauty
SNK
Harrods
Liberty
Selfridges, etc.
