Which Le Labo is it @JoRaRaRa. I don’t see any in the JL calendars? For anyone interested though it says the fragrance will be available to order from 25/9, I know some people were keen!

Oh, it's last year's 🀣🀣🀣🀣🀣🀣

JoRaRaRa · Today 20:53

Seahorses12 · Today 20:44

Yes, I ordered and no clue when it will arrive, saying max delivery time is end of October, now feel a repeat of the pre ordered HBAC scenario except there's no option to cancel. I could have just picked an advent up in the Sephora shop myself right now. Lesson to self for future purchases.

So is it in stores now? I'm not very patient and I think I'll get irritated waiting until the end of Oct 🀣

OvaHere · Today 20:58

Seahorses12 · Today 20:50

Congrats! When did you place your order?

The day it released about mid morning. It was after @MrsBnow12 so I don't know why mine has been sent already.

IlovePond · Today 21:05

I’ve been thinking about beauty calendars - given how much stuff I already have, my ideal calendar for this year would be:

Just the one 12 day calendar containing:

Four unusual but lovely 10-15ml perfumes
A really good eye cream
Ditto moisturiser
A pretty eyeshadow palette
A cute lipgloss -preferably from SK
One good shampoo and conditioner
A couple of cute and useful accessories, (not eyelash curlers πŸ™€)

’Cute’, β€˜pretty’ and β€˜lovely’ are subjective, of course - so in my ideal calendar creation world, the curators of my dream calendar would know me better than I know myself!

What would you all have in your dream calendar?

The Noir? I love it too, bought one off Vinted when JL was out. Only reason I asked is I love LL and hadn’t seen it in any calendar this year apart from Selfridges and BT!

Yeah I got a sample of it in the cult beauty 5 for £5 and it's so gorgeous 😍 I want more!

LagoLady · Today 21:20

@IlovePond

Our dream Advent Calendar - now there’s an idea for a thread!

I’m going to think about that, but off the top of my head -

A full sized K18 hair mask
Charlotte Tilbury lipstick
Medik8
Kerastase shampoo & conditioner
Lisa Eldridge mascara and eyeliner (a double drawer) 🀣
Eyeshadow palette
Cream blusher
Elemis night cream
SPF 50
A perfume
Cleanser
Lipgloss (not to fussy on brand)
Anastasia BH brow gel (dark brown - no clear gel, please)
A pot of Charlotte Tilbury eyes to mesmerise creamy eyeshadow

Anyway, back to advents - I’m also still without one @MiaN
Waiting to see what if any will be reduced, but will more than likely buy two edits or a beauty cracker

Really think I'm done with Liberty now.
Received my replacement for the Biome broth and Sisley lotion this afternoon.
In spite of telling me that I didn't need to return the faulty broth or out of date lotion they have sent me a returns label??
I'm not sure what is going on but there was a barcode label on the Sisley lotion, part of which had been crossed out with a black marker pen. However, a lick and a rub (as you do) rubbed enough of the ink off for Β£5.00 to clearly show - on a product costing Β£155 on their website. It's all very strange...

Hi @HardyFoxafter seeing your post about the Sisley cream in your Liberty calendar i checked mine and it was manufactured in mid 2022 and expired in 2025!! So its an email to customer services for me tomorrow

I've just spent a couple of hours going through these threads - wow, you are the queens of BAC! I've learned a lot - you're amazing. I'm a lapsed Liberty BB-er so am avoiding that one and after much consideration I think I've decided on Vogue for me and DD23 to open and share/argue over on Xmas day. I have a skincare stash so am drawn to the mix of products. Anything I should know before I buy?

Seahorses12 · Today 21:36

My ideal calendar would be

A diptyque candle
Lisa Eldridge eye liner and lipstick
Hour glass palette
Westman Atelier foundation (in my shade!)
Sol de Janeiro shower gel (because I love it)
eyeshadow palette
Violette Fr lip stain
AB rich cream
Perfume by Diptyque
Perfume by Granado
Bath oil by Ortigia
K18 Hair masque full size
A piece of jewellery by Otiumberg
Neom reed room scent

To achieve this I just have to buy all available calendars and create a frankenstein!

hellesbells · Today 21:37

I am in a bit of shock i purchased the Liberty calendar i have started going through all the products in there and so far they are all out of date it says the Sunday Riley. CEO was manufactured in 2021 and expired in 2023, the U Beauty manufactured in 2023 and will be out of date in a month i am going to ask customer services if i can return it i have no confidence any of the stuff is in date

I think someone said upthread that the industry recycles codes. SR is so far out of date, I wonder if that is what has happened?

LagoLady · Today 21:44

I love your calendar @Seahorses12 How could I have forgotten AB rich cream?

I would add SR CEO oil to mine, too. I got that in an advent calendar once, and it was by far my favourite item, that and a cream blusher called Chantecaille cheek gelee

@hellesbells That is so, so disappointing, and so serious. For a luxury and expensive brand, and so highly regarded, I would be absolutely furious.

OvaHere · Today 21:47

SheilaFentiman · Today 21:39

I think someone said upthread that the industry recycles codes. SR is so far out of date, I wonder if that is what has happened?

That was me. I have read they do this. I asked AI about it - this is the response

Yes β€” many (possibly most) brands recycle their batch codes, typically on a 5- to 10-year cycle. This means the same code can legitimately correspond to multiple production dates, which is a significant limitation of checker sites.
Key points:

  • Cadence varies by brand. Some recycle every 5 years, others every 10, and a few (like some Japanese brands) have shorter cycles. CheckFresh.com and CheckCosmetic.com will flag when a brand recycles codes and note the approximate cycle.
  • Practical impact: If a code is recycled every 10 years, a "2016" result could actually mean 2006 or 2016. The site usually returns the most recent match but may not tell you which cycle your product falls in.
  • How to narrow it down: Cross-reference with when you (or a previous owner) bought the product, the packaging design/era, and any visible wear. A fragrance from 2016 with a code that also matches 2006 is almost certainly the newer one if you bought it recently.
  • Community consensus: Users on r/beauty and r/Ipsy note that "batch numbers are reused after a while by many manufacturers" and that contacting the brand directly is the only way to get a definitive answer for a specific unit.
So batch code checkers are still useful as a first-pass estimate, but treat the result as "manufactured in this year or the same year minus the recycle cycle" rather than a single definitive date.
ChildrenOfTheQuorn · Today 21:47

MincePiesSparklyEyesAndNaturalHighs · Today 12:37

It's so difficult with the advent calendars. I have always tried to avoid Mac, Elemis and Kiehls. I used to use a lot of Charlotte Tilbury but I know that now isn't cruelty free. With the advent calendars I don't mind 1 or 2 smaller items, as I can easily donate, like the ct seems to be in every calendar. However I won't accept a big priced item, or something that I do need like eye cream.
This year I've had so much going on that I haven't kept up with these threads, nor have I fully researched all the calendars

Charlotte Tilbury isn't cruelty free!?! How did I not know this? It's my go-to makeup brand 😭

That would be fine if it was only one or two items but its all of them plus Reome only launched in 2023 so AI tell me they havent recycled their batch codes, it out of date at the end of the year

26inprogress · Today 22:00

SheilaFentiman · Today 21:39

I think someone said upthread that the industry recycles codes. SR is so far out of date, I wonder if that is what has happened?

Yes surely this is a case of reissuing codes, the big brands won’t be providing Liberty with out of date products and surely Liberty won’t have so many out of date products, eapecially 3 years out of date?! 😳
ETA Just read your latest post, wonder if it’s worth an email to CS and asking outright? I genuinely can’t ( don’t want to!) believe this can be right.

OvaHere · Today 22:03

hellesbells · Today 21:57

That must be short dated then if it only launched in 2023. It can be harder to be sure with products that have been available for much longer. We really need as a minimum manufactured dates printed on products, if not expiry dates.

Hicupping · Today 22:05

I got the new edit from CB and the Murad serum is from March 26 which is good. Lewisham has an expires 2029 print on it. Elemis is 4 months old and Bader is expire march 28. So what I can check is all good.

But wait for it the same Murad serum from elle advent is March 2024. From CB the paulas choice retinol is end of Jan 2025.

"Production date. Unused cosmetics also lose their freshness and become dry. According to EU law, the manufacturer has to put the expiration date only on cosmetics whose shelf life is less than 30 months. The most common periods of suitability for use from the date of manufacture:
Perfumes with alcohol- about 5 years
Skin care cosmetics- minimum 3 years
Makeup cosmetics- from 3 years (mascara) to more than 5 years (powders)
The shelf life may vary depending on the manufacturer."

SummerLimes · Today 22:06

Excellent question.

Lisa Eldridge mascara and a sparkly lipgloss like last years Kensington plum.
Kerestace shampoo and conditioner- full size.
Hourglass palette and brush
Medik8 peptides
Medik8 Retinol
MZ Skin eye cream
Tatcha night cream
Tachta day cream (Dewey).
Dior perfume - nothing woody or unisex
Voucher for Townhouse pedicure
Clarins body scrub
Clarins shower gel and body butter

I'd have a 24 day one, with

Exfoliating cleanser (I love ExfoliKate)
Excellent eye mask
Excellent face mask/sleep mask
Everyday tinted lip balm/light gloss
Nourishing but non-sticky moisturiser
Botanical facial oil
Body oil/balm
Botanical cleansing balm
Westman Atelier lipliner
Skin essence
Non-sparkly highlighter
Metallic cool bronze eyeshadow stick (I know i'm getting a bit specific now, but I'm manifesting 😁)
Black eyeliner
Eyeliner wing stamp as my novelty item 😁
Hair mask for curly hair that's unfussy to use
Leave-in hair oil/cream
Coral/pink blush in a chunky stick/MILK style
A couple of votive candles in gorgeous, smoky sandalwood-y fragrances
Dr Vranges fragrance diffuser
Selection of interesting, Ffern-ish fragrances, any size

OOohhh I enjoyed curating that Grin
