Just collected my Boots 24 Days of Skin AC. No idea why i opted for Click and Collect, i had to carry the huge box through town😫
Im just waiting for LF, and i think im done. Ive managed to get the ELLE one out of my head. I dont need it, im going to be sensible and put the money i would of spent on it towards new flooringπŸ˜‚

OK everyone I really need to catch up…

Still hesitating over the Elle calendar which is listing for me with a big cashback (15%) – has anyone had that and had it come through?

If I do buy it it will have to be after I have paid my current CC bill so not for a week or so.

In other news, John Lewis just emailed me to say they are sending a replacement for my bashed-box AC which is great. I presume they will want the other one back but that is not specified in the email...

I’m also wondering if I should order my tea calendar now or wait in the hope of a fantastic reduction like last year’s!

I am looking for a tea calendar for DC. Do you have a particular one you enjoy?

@Hicupping if skincycle is actually manufactured in China, then 100% it would undergo testing on animals.
Although I find it very difficult to give up on certain brands who sell in China (which means they also have to comply with local rules including animal testing), I am trying, where I can, to move away from this scenario. So not starting using a brand I am certain is testing on animals is the easiest choice for me here. And saved myself Β£85.
It is not easy with all these cosmetic conglomerates.
I use Medik8 daily and love their products. I don’t know where they are now on animal testing since they’ve been bought out.
Skinceuticals is another brand I use regularly but, to my embarrassment, I haven’t started looking closely into their testing and manufacturing situation.

@26inprogress I order Elle late on Friday and got a notification yesterday that it's on its way via Royal Mail - should apparently be 3 - 6 business days. Royal Mail tracking is showing that they're still waiting to receive it. My guess is it will arrive on Friday when DH is at home and I'm going into the office, therefore scuppering any efforts to hide it!

IlovePond · Today 12:00

@WonderingWhyAndHow - a lot of people rate Bird and Blend. I love Twinings!

@HardyFox - that’s so very kind of you - but I am reasonably sure DSis will hand hers over once it’s sat unloved in her cupboard for another couple of weeks 😹 Thank you, anyway - I really appreciate it.

I have just drafted an email for DSis to send to Liberty CS. I agree that their CS are usually pretty good, but this is a situation of Liberty’s own making that should not have happened.

I’m more annoyed with myself for accumulating all that BD money πŸ™€

Dont have it in my hands yet but i really like Impedia and the Amouage one. I like the Jo Malone but it doesnt linger. So, nice to have but would not pay much money for it in the store.

Looking forward to testing the Gong, Brompton Immortals and Memo.

Will probably really dislike the Borntostandout, MFK, Thameen and the Initio Oud. They will go for sale.

Delina Exclusif is ok but I prefer the normal one. Will still use it.

Not sure about the Jeroboam

Gong is GORGEOUS IMO. And the Gozo.

Well now I know Skincycles is made in China, I'm put off from the Vogue! Not sure if I'm happy or sad. I'm now stumped completely on what calendar to get.
Weirdly I had the Liberty last year which contained the Skincycles eye patches, I was sure they were made in Germany, but a quick Google tells me otherwise

I've still got one of the eye patches. Says made in PRC on the back. But does have bunny ears cruelty free logo.

@IlovePond No worries but it's here if she won't part with it!
I'm going to have to have a think about BD and whether it's worth carrying on but I do like the boxes we get, they seem to have more niche products than the BAC itlsef! I suppose I could spend the money on edits or candles or some such as I seriously doubt I'll be getting their BAC again.
I've got all my hopes pinned on Korre and F&M now!
Just had a message from Amazon Shipping to say they are delivering my replacement Liberty products today. Hooray!

It's so difficult with the advent calendars. I have always tried to avoid Mac, Elemis and Kiehls. I used to use a lot of Charlotte Tilbury but I know that now isn't cruelty free. With the advent calendars I don't mind 1 or 2 smaller items, as I can easily donate, like the ct seems to be in every calendar. However I won't accept a big priced item, or something that I do need like eye cream.
This year I've had so much going on that I haven't kept up with these threads, nor have I fully researched all the calendars

Branster · Today 12:47

@BabyPigeonit bloody well is!!! My yearly porn. Google previous years and you’ll see they are always an absolute thing of wonder. I keep saying I’ll get one β€˜when I grow up’. So expensive.

Advententhusiast · Today 12:49

IDontHateRainbows · Today 08:17

I've not really become intimate with it yet but I can tell you now I like Impadia and I think I'll definitley like Brompton Immortals extrait although I still have loads of the edp from last year's FAC so not sure if its worth opening the extrait as opposed to shifting. I also like the Jo Malone - and I don't like a lot of JM so I was lucky it was that one they picke.d

I hear a lot of people say it smells similar to the normal one.

I dont really care for JM either but the pear one I like. Its a mild one, it offends no one. Easy to wear for work in spring.

I am culling my collection though. I dont want just ok scents. I want stuff I absolutely LOVE.

SheilaFentiman · Today 12:54

Floral Street Enchanted Masquerade and JHAG Pear, Inc (duh!) both have pear notes if you like those (I do, DH not so keen!).

Branster · Today 13:09

Just as an aside on Guerlain, they do use real royal jelly which is not considered to be a substance that can be ethically sourced because it stresses the bees. Saying that, I cannot afford Guerlain as a regular brand for my daily use so I haven’t looked into it too much.
But I find all these considerations to be a bit of a minefield because I have never taken the time to find out, properly, who is using what and how can they prove they are an ethical producer. I am a long term Clarins fan (they annoy me every so often when they discontinue products I like) and they are not claiming in any way shape or form to be above the board as regards animal testing or ethical sourcing. I really should look into all this properly.

That's really disappointing about Skin Cycles. I need to pay more attention to product testing. I stupidly assume most products sold in the UK are cruelty free.

The teapigs one was good last year

It really is quite tricky. I use the peta website, I have checked skincycles on there and they come up as cruelty free, at this point it's anyone's guess

IlovePond · Today 13:35

I forgot Tea Pigs @Donsyb

I am definitely getting Twinings a/c but am keeping my fingers crossed for a discount as we get closer to Xmas. A bargainous cheese calendar - again like last year - wouldn’t go amiss either!

@Branster I have a soft spot for Guerlain, I can't afford their skincare but I have some perfumes and I consider it one of the nicest perfume houses. I would preffer a perfume only calendar from them, as all the skincare seems to be minis that I won't be able to replace. But if I could comfortably afford it, I would probably get it because it's beautiful.

I looked on their website and, thankfully, they do claim to be cruelty free -

We are proud to carry the PETA Cruelty-Free mark, ensuring that all our products are cruelty-free. All SKIN|CYCLES products are – and always will be – cruelty-free, paraben-free, and silicone-free.

Also hopefully made in China by a company that adheres to their values:

At SKIN|CYCLES, our commitment to sustainability extends beyond our products to the entire supply chain. We support the International Bill of Human Rights, embracing principles such as dignity, fairness, respect, and equality. These human rights are fundamental freedoms that belong to everyone, regardless of who they are.

Yes I've seen, I was sure I checked it last year when ordering the Liberty. It's very confusing. I wonder how they've kept the mark, when they manufacture in China.
Means the Vogue is possibly back in consideration
