I tend to wear vintage/Americana ones or something that looks like my dad bought it on holiday & I have stolen it from him.

Baseball caps look lame when the person wearing one is groomed.
They only look "cool" when they are faded, with no design, worn by someone rocking a bit of a hillbilly vibe

I never thought of baseball caps as uncool. Aren't they what all the celebs wear on their dress down days ?

I don’t like them with a groomed look, it should be more effortless. Tbh I tend to wear one when having a bad hair day!

I just have a plain one in a lavender colour from Accessorize.

I don't wear it to be cool. It is a practical solution for me on very sunny days, worn with sunglasses. I'm 67.

I have a huge aversion to them. Never had one, never will. Fair enough for playing sports when you need to keep sun out of your eyes but otherwise - they cannot be cool no matter what they are made of. My DP has a ratty old one and I sincerely want to bin it.

They are great on a beach day because straw hats aren’t always secure.

I also have a Ralph Lauren one that is quite soft, floppy and shallow in the head part and I think it looks quite chic.

I wear them much more for practical reasons than style because I hate having the sun on my face and it’s so much easier to chuck a baseball cap in a bag than carry around a wide-brimmed straw hat or similar. But I don’t think I look terrible wearing one.

I’ve recently bought a plain navy baseball cap from Mountain Warehouse that my 11 and 14 year old approved of, or so I gathered from them saying “clock it” and “you look locked in!”. I’m 49!

But then I think that caps have always suited me, and that’s what it comes down to as to whether it looks cool or not.

I’ve thought about this a lot too and my conclusion is the best ones are the plain blue or grey denim ones from M&S. Any designs or logos are just not great.

I only like the flat top military style ones. But not camo or anything!

Some suggestions here if you want ideas from actual fashion/style types (rather than people who hang out on Mumsnet and faint at the very idea of something like a baseball cap).

I would consider myself quite stylish & pretty clued-up on fashion (enough to know when to avoid certain things!).

The only person I've seen looking cool while wearing a baseball cap is John Grant. But that's despite, not because ... he is quite possibly the coolest man on the planet, so what he wears is irrelevant!

Love a baseball cap and a scroll on Instagram would suggest they’re fashionable at the moment. My favourites are herringbone wool, rust corduroy and a slightly faded navy RL one. Only with casual outfits.
