What to wear to Wimbledon in your mid fifties

I’m looking for suggestions of what to wear to Wimbledon, I’m trying to move away from my previous few summer’s uniform of midi dresses.
I am mid 50’s, need petite range and want to look as nice as I can as it’s a special day for my DH and I.

I was in hospitality last year, in the Treehouse which i think was above The Lawn. I wore a jumpsuit, with flat ballet pumps. Wimbledon can be a long day - so dress for comfort and well as looking nice.
I'd say wear flats or wedges not heels.
There was a mixture of nice summer dresses/trousers & tops/jumpsuits etc.
Nothing especially fancy.
Enjoy x

Speaking of fans - and with apologies for potential derail - has anyone been to the Fan Museum in London? I keep meaning to go.

Oh how lovely!

I Too used to have vintage ones, never used them, but so pretty

Now I need a Gucci fan @EleanorMc67 , see what you’ve done! 😄

Go for it - it's in the sale!!

All the items I’ve ordered have arrived. I thought I’d settled on a jumpsuit from Phase Eight that fits like a glove only when it came to taking it off I thought I was going to have a panic attack and be stuck in it for ever so that’s a no no.

I think I am happy with a white Love and Roses dress which is lightweight (not panic inducing) and a beige vintage designer bag I already have. It’s not the most groundbreaking look but should be in photos etc.

I will look for sandals now.

Thank you for your help.

Which L&R?
Glad you've got something you're happy with. Jumpsuits are such a gamble comfort-wise!😂

This is the jumpsuit, it was very flattering, in good colours for me if I only I didn’t need to ever use the loo.

Just the thought of wearing a jumpsuit makes me need the loo ...

Which dress are you going with, OP? I think you might need this fan ... (how much?!!)

Nice jumpsuit! Sorry it didn’t quite work out

SaraCrewe06 · 15/06/2026 09:54

Love the jumpsuit OP!
Feeling slightly envious as we didn’t manage to get tickets this year…
Have a fantastic time. A day at Wimbledon is very very special 🎾🩷

Knickerbockerglory75 · 15/06/2026 15:25

We had centre court tickets last year (under the canopy and in the shade) and I wore a midi dress, white Nike Court Boroughs and a denim jacket,

Unless you are in the debenture lounge, you can wear whatever you want. Wumbledon is no longer smart. Smart casual trousers, nice top, nice jersy or cardigan, comfy shoes, sunglasses, hat. Tote bag with room for your jersey, water bottle, sun cream, sunglasses, hat and waterproof.

Even if you are in the debenture lounge you can wear whatever. I've had the good fortune to go a few times on a debenture ticket and I don't remember anyone looking massively dressed up. It's not Ascot!

walkingmycatnameddog · 15/06/2026 19:58

Add something for when the evening gets cooler too, sometimes the temperature just drops!

Myotherusernamesafunnyone · 15/06/2026 21:44

This is what I wore last year. It was absolutely baking! And a very long day! But it’s wonderful, I’m very jealous and sad I’m not going again!

@ForBusyOliveBearjump suits still seem to be advocated on MN but I’ve got two very fashion savvy DDs in their 30s and they’d never go near one. Not as many around in the retailers either - only retailers selling to the middle aged. I’m 70 but honestly, what is the purpose of them? A good dress or trousers and top is so much nicer! Plus no loo dilemmas!

I’m 55, im wearing this Realisation dress to Wimbledon.

Oh I like that. I’m also going and the weather is looking hot already for my day. (29th).
They have a shop in Mayfair so will pop in there and try on. Thank you

What nonsense. Zara, Arket, other stories, sezane etc have loads of jumpsuits.

That looks lovely on you. I'm going for the first time too. Could be a hot one.
Did you wear trainers with that?

limetrees32 · Yesterday 12:08

@Myotherusernamesafunnyone would you mind saying where your dress was from ?

MeetMeOnTheCorner · Yesterday 14:11

@sohard Nowhere near as many as 10 years ago! You just don’t see smarter people wearing them now. Definitely past their sell by date. I cannot remember the last time I saw a fashion article advising one - mainly because we all know the loo is a faff!

MeetMeOnTheCorner · Yesterday 14:21

Arket has 3 playsuits - casual and 2 are shorts. Zara has more but many of them are playsuits with shorts too. &OtherStories has playsuits and heavier corduroy or long sleeved ones that are casual work wear look. Sezane - only for babies. None has them listed for a search - you have to type in “jump suit”. This is because they aren’t popular.

I love fans! I used to buy the cheap paper ones from the Chinese supermarket, as I could get several in different colours & have one to match each outfit ...

There is now a huge range, from cheap to expensive designer ones, available - so I would take full advantage of that & buy one to match whatever outfit you decide on!

Probably a bit ridiculous to admit, but it actually gives me great pleasure, on a hot & sticky day, to have a fan that ties in perfectly with what I'm wearing ...!! (Though if there's a place to admit that & not be laughed at, it's here!!!)

You can even get a Gucci one ...

The violet, green & white looks good for Wimbledon ( also the feminist in me wants it).

Glad you agree they have many of them and as it’s summer a lot of them are short, so what?. And Sezane is for women around 30. Not for babies. You’re spouting utter nonsense.

TimeforaGandT · Yesterday 17:27

I have seen people turned away from the Members Enclosure for wearing trainers so just be aware of that if the weather is looking dodgy and you need to change footwear. Also seen men refused entry for not wearing socks (with loafers) on a hot day (even if in blazers and ties).

The feminist in you should buy it!

I'm glad that people have commented on the fans. They're such useful things if you run hot - which I always did, long before menopause! And there are absolutely loads around now.
