Whind Oud Davana which i got with Ndulge points as a blind buy and i try not to blind buy but this was the travel size and I liked the scent profile. Its very similar to byredo mumbai noise, has a deep almost raw quality that I like and reminds me of dark bitter chocolate too. Scarily dupeworthy of mumbai noise, so the oud+ Davana combo must really combine well to have this specific effect. Not very summery but I like it.

Went a bit mad with snk double points event and ordered some bibbi, 2 x 10ml ( radio child + GOT) and a sampler, plus got a free 10ml fruit captain so not a bad deal. I hope they take double points off soon as can't afford more.

Sotd Dedcool Taunt today
Familiar and comforting x

JPG la belle, found a tiny sample I'd forgotten about. Really liked this one last year, sweet and peary but not sickly. It's the only JPG I like.

Sotd: giving Delice (m. Micallef) another go. I'm sure it's got a significant leather element to it, but this isn't named as a note 🤷

IDontHateRainbows · 26/04/2026 20:01

Going through a Tea phase. This includes Escentric Molecules Black Tea, which is one of the few EM I rate, not being particularly a fan of Iso E Super. But I do like this.
Also in the tea category and probably my preference is Bibbi Ghost of Tom. This isn't as lemony as Dear Polly but something in the dry down which I can't describe is very similar. Like it.

And I used my cult beauty points from the recent haul on a 15ml le labo the noir which I may save when it comes as had far too much new stuff lately.

Getting in to some new houses -Bibbi and Le Labo I wasn't much of a fan of recently - along with some new olfactory journeys into fresh spicy as we go into spring.

SOTD is libre, I wanted to smell divine in this lovely warm sunny weather today

MiaN · 27/04/2026 14:29

byredo 11th hour hand cream today. I have to say, it's the most unfriendly scent I have smelled for hand cream - it just feels wrong. I will use it up to be done with it - I am not sure where I got it from, probably freebie.

IDontHateRainbows · 27/04/2026 14:42

Ex nihilo the hedonist, from the selfridges box. Ticking the fresh spicy urge, lemony, ginger.
Hoping selfridges volume 2 comes out soon.

I've been wearing PDM Valaya Exclusif all weekend. I really like this but only have 5ml of it.

I need to dig out the 10ml original Valaya to try to see how similar they are. Has anyone else tried both?

NotTheFreudYoureLookingFor · 27/04/2026 15:47

SOTD is Oud Ghazal (another one by Edeniste). I got a two ml sample, as I love vetiver imaginaire so much. I was hoping the "destress accord" present in V.I. would also be in this one, but I'm not sure it is... maybe it'll emerge later? I only sprayed it on an hour or so ago.

At the moment, I'm not blown away by it. I quite like oud, but this one doesn't offer anything more than a couple of the Montale samples I have. I'm also a bit wary about wearing oud, as it tends to be a marmitey for other people.

MiaN · 27/04/2026 16:27

I prefer valaya exclusif as well, but both are nice. I have only 5ml of the original. The original smells more molecule heavy, exclusif more natural/softer imo

MiaN · 27/04/2026 16:30

well, I hope this is not permanent... after trying Versace crystal emerald 10 times, I bought full bottle on deal and wore it for full day. It was really energy draining/annoying :(. I was bit tired after travel day so I am going to give it another try. That's it - a scent can impact your energy both positive and negative, and it can happen that something you like in theory or to smell for little while, does not work for you to have with you all day.

SOTD Chloé Atelier Des Fleurs Sous Les Pins - I’ve given this one a good go, but it’s not for me. There’s something in the base - maybe ambrox? - that I perceive really strongly and to me it has too much of a masculine/cologne feel. I asked DH what he thought of it and he gets posh soap and clean laundry, so I think it’s more of a nose issue than a skin chemistry one IYSWIM.

MotherWol · 27/04/2026 17:37

Also to note: I’ve been trying to train the FB algorithm by following fragrance houses, it looks like PDM has a current offer for a free sample of Athenaïs, worth keeping an eye out for.

Yes, they are similar but exclusif is deeper with an almond note. I like them both, maybe the exclusif more in winter.

Falling in love with bibbi ghost of tom so had that on.

Thanks to the PP who suggested a ring / Jewellery case to hold the little 2ml size samples. I bought a small ring holder from stackers off Amazon for £8, it has 10 'grooves' just the right size for these.

Oud immortal ( Byredo) layered with commodity juice. The latter I’m disliking but a light oud makes it more interesting.

NotTheFreudYoureLookingFor · 28/04/2026 08:13

Oud Ghazal was a big let down yesterday. Is £250 for 100ml, so I thought it would be a more complex oud than other ouds I've tried (such as Montale's black aoud, dark vanilla, and dark purple), but it wasn't. It also had a weird dry down trajectory, starting off pretty intense with significant projection, to suddenly fading away to almost nothing after a few hours (I actually tried it out twice yesterday, just to check).

And as per my last post, I couldn't detect the "destress accord" in it at all. Disappointing!

Will be back on vetiver imaginaire today, as I can easily wear it at work.

IDontHateRainbows · 28/04/2026 08:19

DS Durga Coriander. Suprise wild card love for me - it's definitely ticking the 'fresh spicy' box. Although it doesn't actually smell of coriander, it's more lemony, herby, peppery. I got it in the Liberty Fresh edit. The rollerball oil formula is a bit gentler than the spray although I usually prefer a spray.

IDontHateRainbows · 28/04/2026 08:22

Also tried Tana Meadow from the beauty drop box. I can see the similarities with rare beauty although it's sweeter, mellower, less spicy. It's a bit too sickly, heavy and sweet for me especially this time of year. My tastes must be changing though as I reckon 6 months ago I'd have loved it

I fancy something cosy and comforting and when I first smelled Perfumer H - Powder it reminded me exactly of my long departed Grandma. So much so that I got a bit teary. It's funny how evocative scent can be isn't it?

It's a tiny 2ml sample though so I don't want to use it up. I may just keep it to sniff the bottle occasionally!

TragicMuse · 28/04/2026 10:52

SOTD is Bruno Fazzolari Monserrat. I only have a 2ml which is nearly empty so I’m eking it out.

It did lead to a mild scare this morning that I couldn’t find my bottle of Au Dela. It was stuck behind something else. Crisis averted!

I love Bruno Fazzolari as a scent maker but I don’t love that he keeps discontinuing ones I like! Seyrig has gone, that was really special. I have one spray’s worth left. And I think Jimmy and Lampblack are also gone. 😢

MotherWol · 28/04/2026 11:34

@GameOfJones did you get any other Perfumer H samples? I've been eyeing up their £15/3 x 2ml samples offer, Rain Wood or Wood Land sound very appealing, and I really liked Soap when I tried it at Liberty. There's not a lot on Fragrantica about them yet though, would be interested in people's opinions.
