Thanks so much @Primrosespaw - yes, I always manage with Alixes and Gabis too. I had a look at the measurements of the wide legs and the length changes according to size, so that might be why these work on me as they're XXS (I'm not XXS but luckily they fit).

ScallopShellWalk · 29/05/2026 13:17

The medium small checked linen trousers I ordered from the resell site have arrived and I am glad to say they fit 😊 Wide but lovely with it. Very pleased and a bit relieved.

IlovePond · 29/05/2026 14:15

Hi, in case anyone is in the area and fancies a trip - Kate Sheridan have a yard sale today and tomorrow at their Hackney premises. I have just been and done some shopping!

OP posts:
ScallopShellWalk · 29/05/2026 16:58

@IlovePond did you get anything nice?

ShanghaiDiva · 29/05/2026 17:02

Collecting Dd from uni tomorrow so it’s double Kilver Court time: Dh’s bladder requires a stop on each journey!

IlovePond · 29/05/2026 17:08

@ScallopShellWalk - I got a silly rain hat, a phone bag, a small pink bag and a bigger pink bag , (for some reason 🤷‍♀️). £55 the lot as the bags are all seconds, but perfectly nice.

I will post pics when I get home.

Just had a very stressful couple of hours as the road we were parked on was blocked for hours by a wide load that couldn’t get past parked cars. The same company had done the same thing on our way to the sale, so I had walked the last bit. We couldn’t extend the parking so I am hoping we don’t get a ticket.

I reported it to the police via 101, but couldn’t believe there were no police on scene. The fire brigade were on scene but had no authority to move legally parked vehicles !

faustina · 29/05/2026 17:24

@IlovePond - that sounds like a very nice set of bargains!

Thank you to the linen wide legs advisors. I wore them today for the first time and they're really nice. Some of the Toast linen trousers in the past have been a bit flimsy, but the deep hem on these makes them hang really nicely

I didn't make it to the basket weaving workshop last night (too distracted by breaking my little toe - such a small thing but so incredibly painful!). Luckily they've sent me the link so I can have a go once I'm better. Did anyone else make it, and did we choose the right reed?

ScallopShellWalk · 29/05/2026 17:31

@IlovePond id love to see your bargains when you get home. Parking sounds just like London. I have memories that will never leave me.

@faustina I did the workshop and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I will def do more baskets. The reed is fine at 2 or 3 mm. The lengths are wrong. They have corrected that on the email. Don’t cut the long lengths at all. I used prob about 3 full lengths. The short lengths they gave us in cm should have been inches. 😳 it was a bit of a fiddling around as they were a bit small in length but I managed. Though the tiny wee basket looks crumpled from shoving down the nicely spaced rows to try free space at the top to finish it. Was good.

faustina · 29/05/2026 17:34

Thanks @ScallopShellWalk - I'll look forward to it now!

ScallopShellWalk · 29/05/2026 18:16

@faustina I hope your toe gets better soon.

IlovePond · 29/05/2026 18:24

@faustina - I have broken the same toe - little one on right foot - four times so you have my sympathy!

Raising the leg above the heart - for hours if possible - and icing the toe for hours - again as often as possible, will aid recovery. This is what I was told by the paramedic at DisneyWorld Florida when I broke it for the 3rd or 4th time and it worked - I was able to walk on it without much pain by the next day!

OP posts:
faustina · 29/05/2026 18:43

@IlovePond - thank you - four times!!! I have been raising it but haven't tried ice yet. Luckily I can still drive if I tilt my foot as that's the only option here, but walking is still really difficult without wincing.

IlovePond · 29/05/2026 18:54

@faustina - yes! First time I crashed into a door frame running from a mouse in the flat I was renting in my distant youth! Back in those days, advice was to stay off it completely - no driving or walking for weeks and - rather unbelievably I was signed off for three weeks! Unsurprisingly it healed beautifully.

When I broke the same toe many many years later, I was therefore very surprised to be met with a shrug and a plaster to attach tiny toe to its fellow and told to crack on 😹 It healed ok, but then I broke it again several weeks later stubbing my toe on a flat pack piece of furniture that DH had failed to move out of the way. It’s not been quite the same since and has somewhat affected my shoe choices.

Fourth time was at Disney and thanks to the lovely paramedic it healed quickly. (I think they were worried about my suing - I probably missed a trick there 😹)

I hope yours heals quickly 🤞

ScallopShellWalk · 29/05/2026 19:25

Oh sounds really sore @IlovePond (4 times!) and @faustina
I thought I had broken my second toe, doing a flip, years ago when fit and agile. It made a great crack as I landed and was pretty painful afterwards (finished the class prob on adrenalin). It’s not been right since. Think it did break another time and sometimes it complains on long walks. Looks a bit crooked. I didn’t see anyone medical about it as I was told by folk that there was nothing really be done. It’s twitching now I’m talking about it.
Glad to say no other toes have submitted to the knocks they get.

IlovePond · 29/05/2026 20:59

Here’s a picture of my KS haul.

I shouldn’t have bought the silly hat, and two pink bags is at least one too many, but at £55 for the lot I thought it was worth it!

I have also attached some pictures of what else was available.

Prices:

The bag straps were £10, the simple phone bags and small wallets were £20, the double pocket phone pouches were £40 or £45, (can’t remember exactly). Most of the bags on the table ranged from £60-£75. The most expensive bag I saw in the sale was a large open stiff leather tote for £150.

They also had a couple of hats, a little bit of clothing and a few pairs of canvas pumps available.

The last pic is of the ‘faulty’ stock that was heavily reduced. That’s where I got my three bags. There’s nothing much ‘wrong’ with the ones I got except for faded dye. As they had all faded evenly, this didn’t bother me. The larger pink bag also has a scratch/flaw down one side, but I don’t expect this will be particularly noticeable once it’s been used for a while.

In case anyone fancies going, the yard sale is on again tomorrow from 10am. There will be no ‘new’ stock added, but they do have a few extra items of what was on sale today in reserve, if that makes sense.

Also, I was told today that some people were buying via Instagram - I have no idea how this was working in practice and it seemed to be only local/known customers who were doing this but if anyone fancies trying, it might be worth a go. I think you would stand more chance of success if you are a regular customer who follows them on Instagram already and could collect the item at a later date.

I am glad I went, (although I could have done without being trapped for two hours afterwards in an expired parking slot 🙀)

Lovely haul there @IlovePond , love some of the Kate Sheridan bags and designs.

Bigging up Toast customer service here: you may recall upthread that I bought a pair of organic green socks from Toast and on first putting them on, there was a hole in the side. Well, following my review, Toast did reach out for a photo of the fault and have refunded me for the socks, so that felt like good and considered service.

In other news, I caved and bought the cotton linen twill jacket to match the trousers I already have. @ScottishMouse I think it is you I have to blame as you wrote so beautifully about the jacket upthread and I decided it would look as a suit, but the jacket would also look really good with the Toast dark denim Japanese twist jeans. I ordered the small and the medium and prevaricated but there isn’t much difference between the two, and the medium will suit winter and a chunky jumper.

Thanks @ToastCosILoveIt - DSIS is probably heading up there today so I will be interested to see what stock they have available today.

Glad Toast CS came good about the socks - no one expects a hole from day one in any pair of socks, much less ones as expensive as those. Lovely colour, though!

IlovePond · 30/05/2026 12:06

DSIS has just been to the KS yard sale. No ‘new’ stuff from yesterday, but still quite a few things left if anyone is in the area.

OP posts:
mizu · 30/05/2026 15:15

@IlovePond looks great! I have that pink tab bag in red / burgundy and every year I love it even more.

IlovePond · 30/05/2026 15:18

Thanks @mizu - I am glad I went back for it, having walked away with only the first small bag!

DSis bought a brown c/body today for £75 with popper pockets on both sides that looks nice in the pictures and a £10 bag strap.

I thought about buying a strap yesterday, but realised I would have no real use/need for another one!

That’s a very nice haul @IlovePond.

I was wondering whether anyone has the Il Bisonte bag. I’ve been wanting it ever since it appeared, and I’ve really not spent very much recently so I was wondering whether it’s worth the price. Thanks so much in advance.

IlovePond · 30/05/2026 19:32

Thanks @CakeAndJazz

I am trying to hold off from buying anything else in anticipation of the Toast sale, but have just reordered some more FitFlops to try, given the hot weather and the lack of suitable footwear for work.

I must be a secret optimist because my last big order went horribly wrong - nothing fitted and it was a total nightmare trying to get refunded. Wish me luck!

Btw: We are slowly getting to the end of this thread, so I will start a new one soon.

ScottishMouse · 28/05/2026 14:45

I agree @CoasttoToast, 60 dresses but none that work for me (for one reason or another). Whereas I can shop other places where they maybe have only 5-10 items from a brand and know there will be at least one piece in that that works well. Something isn’t right (though it could be my body shape and taste not being a good match for Toast anymore) I have just packed for a weekend away and the only Toast item in my suitcase is years old. Although I am bringing my straw bag, a blue check scarf, and my fracap sandals (most of my Toast purchases in the last 18 months have been accessories by other brands or homeware).

Things have definitely changed since Nikki left @ScottishMouse
I had to be very stern with myself in the past but now I struggle to spend anything.

Reporting back on the Ma+ Lin blouses
Oh my goodness they are absolutely gorgeous.
Beautifully made, heavy linen

I will get lots of use from these, as a blouse but also they are perfect as little summer jackets over a sleeveless dress
I have 2 of the toast sleeveless poplin dresses, the pea green and the blue Tala dresses which I havent worn as its just been too much to wear sleeveless and these will work beautifully.
I also have the chocolate sleeveless gingham from a few seasons back, again not worn due to the risk of burning
The chocolate blouse will work perfectly.
They are boxy and short which is not everyones cup of tea but perfect for me.

Ouch to broken toes !

CakeAndJazz · 31/05/2026 20:41

I’m sorry if this seems like a very silly question, but I’ve never been asked to leave a review for any items I’ve bought from Toast. How can I do that? I find reviews so helpful, so would really like to be able to review some of the items I’ve bought.
