Thanks for the new thread @IlovePond, just checking in.

OftenOrange · 27/02/2026 15:33

My treat order using the discount is a disappointment.
The Ola sandals are too small and size up OOS
Pantry stripe top that fits well restricts arm movement , size up looks too big.
Glad the reworn parcel yielded a couple of hits , and less £££

I should have gone for the linen cotton jacket in slate or a Hal denim ,20% saving there would have been worthwhile.

ScottishMouse · 27/02/2026 16:38

Oh, so disappointing when you had a discount @OftenOrange. I found the same with the linen silk version of the pantry stripe shirt.

ScallopShellWalk · 27/02/2026 18:41

@OftenOrange ask toast if they will allow you to use the discount again or issue another one, since you had to return all of your order, explaining you can’t easily get to a shop where you could have chosen after trying.

IlovePond · 27/02/2026 19:09

I second that @OftenOrange - they reinstated a discount for me when I had to return something I bought that was faulty. Worth a shot.

@mizu is that you selling the binding check skirt on Vinted?

mizu · 27/02/2026 19:45

@ScottishMouse 😁

mizu · 27/02/2026 19:46

It is indeed. All that time thinking about buying it and I’ve tried it in numerous times and can’t get it to work for me.

ScottishMouse · 27/02/2026 19:53

What a shame. What don’t you like about it? I haven’t worn mine as much as I thought I would. My sis missed out on it in the sale so I’m going to tell her yours is on Vinted.

Snowyowl78 · 27/02/2026 20:05

I got the Frankie coat and the pantry shirt today and I think both are going back! The Frankie coat looks oversized on me, went for the large but it’s very big and very long. I don’t know it the medium would fit around the shoulder/back. Also the pantry shirt didn’t look great on me.

ScottishMouse · 27/02/2026 20:26

That’s a shame @Snowyowl78 but good for your pocket. I tried the Frankie again to get it out of my head, and exactly the same as you, I felt like the L was a little too oversized, and very long, but although the M looked good, it was too tight across the back/shoulders to be comfortable.

Snowyowl78 · 27/02/2026 21:04

@ScottishMouse yes I’m a bit sad, the reviews are so good! I do like it but it does feel too voluminous on the legs.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 27/02/2026 21:30

I have decided that the blueberry tunic is not for me, so I won’t be bothering to reorder. Having tried it on 3 times today it’s already looking creased. I also think the placement and size of the pockets will make them prone to stretching and going baggy.
However the Veta Vera washing basket I ordered at the same time is lovely.

OftenOrange · 27/02/2026 21:59

@ScallopShellWalk @IlovePond @ScottishMouse Thanks for the tip about trying to reinstate the discount , I shall let you know progress

OftenOrange · 27/02/2026 22:06

@mizu @ScottishMouse Just reading your thoughts on the Binding Check shirt, I find it really useful. In fact wearing it with Toast dungarees for an informal dinner at home with friends.
It’s not often I wear an item so much, I do like black and off white checks or stripes a lot, and I don’t like the black cord with coloured tops.
I haven’t worn the skirt yet as I found the whole shebang rather overwhelming .

Looks lovely @OftenOrange

@OftenOrange that looks lovely. I don’t know what I’m not sure about regarding the skirt, perhaps I haven’t got the right top that goes with it. I feel it doesn’t look right on me with my blundstones. I don’t know, but I’m not wearing it and that means selling so that I can purchase something I actually will wear.

I misread, thought it was the shirt you weren’t getting on with.
I’m also unsure about the skirt, I liked the look of the two together on the model but don’t think it looks so good on me . Maybe she’s taller . I’ll keep it and maybe inspiration will come!

OftenOrange · 27/02/2026 23:30

This is the time when I obsess a août an outfit, talk of the Binding skirt sent me looking at online images; I love the look of the Solovair loafers with it , finished with a non sequitur Kate Sheridan bag ❤

OftenOrange · 27/02/2026 23:35

I want the look …

I want the look …

It's beautiful, but didn't suit me one bit. I was very sad because I know it's stunning on some people.

ScottishMouse · 28/02/2026 05:54

I tried my binding check skirt on last night to see if I could figure out why I don’t reach for it. It looks frumpy on me, and makes my hips and bum look very big. I am short, these days a little overweight, but have nothing much to speak of in the hips and bum dept. Nothing has ever made them look big, so this is quite a feat! I also don’t quite know what to put with it. With a neatish charcoal sweater it looks a bit austere, and exaggerates the large hip-bum thing, with the oatmeal heathery sweater it looks matronly, shirts look too long over it, and the plain t-shirts I thought I would wear with it in summer look distinctly meh. It’s such a beautiful skirt, so this is a bit baffling.

AFingerofFudge · 28/02/2026 08:03

Good morning and thank you for the new thread @IlovePond

Not much Toasty news here apart from I did go in and buy the Hickory stripe trousers I had been constantly thinking about.

Annoyingly I didn’t believe the reviews and although tight I bought my usual 14. Now I have had them home a couple of weeks I realise a 16 would be much more comfortable!! Does anyone else do this, find it psychologically difficult to buy in a size they’ve managed to go down from?? If anything I’m a 12-14, so buying a 16 feels wrong!!
DS3 did come up behind me when I was wearing them and whisper “pizza express chef” in my ear but I’m going to ignore that Grin

Anyway, I haven’t worn them yet because I am going to swap them, I just need time to get to a shop as the Cheltenham store is still closed.

mizu · 28/02/2026 08:20

@OftenOrange I love this look too and I adore a check so it really is a reluctant sale.

@ScottishMouse I hate the word frumpy but even at 5 7” the skirt makes me feel a bit like that. I paired with an olive green Bimba e Lola jumper I have and I looked enormous - and I know that shouldn’t matter and I usually wear slightly oversized. It does look better with sandals but am I going to want that wool content in the summer?

Niminy · 28/02/2026 08:47

faustina · 25/02/2026 19:48

Thank you @IlovePond for the shiny new thread and here's hoping your very hungry Ddog just admires the spring flowers and everything else from now on (from a distance)

@ScottishMouse - I really dislike fitted clothes, especially tops because I don't find it comfortable

Has anyone ever tried something called bubble trousers from Sahara? They're following me around social media and they look quite nice

I have a pair of bubble trousers from Sahara: black ponte (very stable jersey). The fabric is fairly thick so they hold their shape, and the seam lines are interesting. I wear them for work quite a lot, and after three years they still look good as new. Sahara have some good things but you need to be highly selective.
