Just popping on to say there’s a brand new Toast botanical print on whatnot - bids up to £32 so far - will be running soon
think it was a size 10 https://www.whatnot.com/s/DQZHfZvSwww.whatnot.com/s/DQZHfZvS

@IlovePond I will report back. I have bought a few shoes from reworn, only one pair had signs of wear showing on the soles. Sometimes they say they are new and from their warehouse but these ones they stated as worn. I don’t mind if ever so lightly worn as long as it hasn’t changed the shoe, I don’t want someone else’s gait affecting mine.
The shoes look really lovely. Let’s see how they turn out.

IlovePond · 24/05/2026 12:23

Thanks @ScallopShellWalk 🤞they fit and are in good condition!

Has anyone who bought the wrap cotton skirt secured it to stop the wrap opening ? If you could explain to me how you did this I would be grateful.

If anyone is looking for the shadow botanical print dress, try customer service. They had Ms and Ls in stock when I rang on Friday. They’re on at the last sale price, £55. The dress looked fabulous irl at Chelsea Flower Show.

Calling all dressmakers/sewists….can any of you tell me what would happen if I removed th darts from the cotton line poplin sleeveless top? https://www.toa.st/products/cotton-linen-poplin-sleeveless-top-ecru
I love it, but the 12 fits my bust but is too tight on my belly, the 14 fits my belly but has too much fabric at the bust. I wondered if taking the darts out would make the 12 a better fit, but I’m not sure how it would hang/look. Any advice would be much appreciated.

I asked AI what it would look like and it gave me this. Is it realistic?

How about making the darts bigger on the 14? I don’t know how thick the fabric is but there is a danger you’ll be able to see the stitch marks where the darts were. If you’ve got anything in a similar poplin it might be worth an experiment on a hem or something.

ScottishMouse · 24/05/2026 17:24

Yes I did wonder about the stitch holes @alliscalm. The 14 is far too big on the bust for me, so I don’t think I could easily alter that but taking the darts out of the 12 would be pretty straightforward I would think.

I’m looking for a size small pair of linen elasticated little black and white check wide legged trousers from past season, prob last summer. I’m usually a small (sometimes an 8 or a small fitting 10) but some of the recent linen trousers I’ve tried in the shop are big enough that I’d fit in the xs. I’ve seen xs and m on the resell sites. Xs waist measurements turned out to sadly be way too small. The medium waist measurement could work but as it’s elasticated it’s on the edge of being too big. I should really wait for a small to come up, if it does. Does anyone have any knowledge of how wide these are in hips and waist. If I took a chance on the medium and had to take the waist in a bit I’m wondering if they’d be too wide in the hips and verging on too long. I know the answer is hold out for a small but I’m just contemplating the medium. Just don’t want to look drowned in them and a low crotch to boon. Think with the uncertainty and not being able to return them, I’ve answered my own question but I’d like to hear from anyone who knows better. Thanks

ScallopShellWalk · 26/05/2026 13:59

My hips are small but my waist isn’t. 😆 so the medium may end up actually being ok on my waist. Then they’d be baggy, which might be ok too but maybe I would be better off in a small. Maybe a small will come up soon.

ScallopShellWalk · 26/05/2026 14:22

I’ve bought the medium. I have here toast trousers that are wider at the hip, so I hope they fit.

ScallopShellWalk · 26/05/2026 14:39

The good thing is I can stop looking on resell sites. 🤗🤗🤗 And therefore stop buying random stuff. 😬

faustina · 26/05/2026 17:02

@ScallopShellWalk - hope your trousers work for you. My rule with Toast is never to buy unless I've actually tried them on before, or can return them as the sizing varies so much. My three pairs of reworn trousers arrived today but have only briefly tried them on - it's way too hot to be fiddling with buttons. One of them is an XXS pair of the wide legged linen pull ons in oat and they're a very generous XXS.

ScallopShellWalk · 26/05/2026 17:16

@faustina I agree with you about not buying without having tried on already or at least being able to return. There is lots on resell sites I just don’t even consider. With these particular trousers, unless they appeared on reworn, I have no opportunity to try on and I really admired them. I have been watching for them thinking maybe an elasticated waist and wide trousers might be forgiving. I have bought a couple of tops that have been too short across the shoulders and I can’t wear them. I took one size 8 to the toast shop to swap, the other size 10 (very small) I’ve held onto as it has string straps and may work ok. I won’t buy anything now that’s an 8 or xs on top that I can’t send back. I may regret buying these. Maybe I’ll be able to at least adjust them if too big. Or I could sell them on I guess ☹️. It’s a risk with toast sizes. But if they do fit, I will be very happy, I have plans for them.

ScallopShellWalk · 26/05/2026 17:20

@faustina my reworn linen dress in parchment arrived, size 8. It’s snug up across the top but not uncomfortably so. I’m having a think. I like it a lot and probably will keep it. I’ve no idea if the 10 would have been better. I hope your trousers work out for you. It is hot today.

NeatHelper · 26/05/2026 20:22

Just wanted to make people aware of a Vinted scam I’ve had twice in the last week with toast items. Seller posts out pages from food standards agency book instead of the item. I guess in the hope that you don’t report the parcel as having an issue in time as the money gets automatically transferred.

ToastCosILoveIt · 26/05/2026 23:01

That’s terrible @neathelper, same seller?

ScallopShellWalk · 27/05/2026 11:46

@NeatHelper I agree, that’s awful. I hope you managed to sort it out. Is there anything you can see that links the sellers?

CoasttoToast · 27/05/2026 12:24

This type of Vinted scam has been around for ages
Usually sellers with random letters for users names, no feedback and if its too good to be true, its usually a scam
Vinted bans them and refunds
I never order if Im going to be away for this reason and get my stuff sent to the parcel shop as you have 5 days to collect

I just report if I see them now

ScottishMouse · 27/05/2026 15:09

I am getting really quite frustrated with Toast quality control. I am definitely fussy, but at Toast prices I feel like I should be. I re-ordered the seersucker dress in a smaller size, and paid for next day delivery as I am going away on Friday morning. I will be in a European city for the weekend and it is going to be HOT and I hate hot. After much searching, and despite the sheerness of the fabric, I figured this would be the thing to wear. I ordered two as the larger one I had tried previously had a fault at the neck. One of them is sewn completely skew at the neck, and the other has one strap almost 2cm wider than the other, which is really obvious when on. There have been so many things I have ordered in the last while that have been returned for similar reasons, and I am increasingly fed up with it.

faustina · 27/05/2026 18:42

@NeatHelper - that's awful - not something I've come across before and I'm not sure who'd click everything is ok before actually opening their parcel. I hope Vinted refunded and cancelled them?

@ScottishMouse - oh that's rubbish too. Hope you manage to have a good time despite the lack of a dress. Maybe you can find something nice there to buy?

CoasttoToast · 27/05/2026 18:50

@faustina
I think they rely on a few people being away when the parcel arrives
Its only 2 days after delivery and then it goes through automatically
I get everything sent to the parcel shop now
Its only a minutes walk away and it gives me the reassurance that if its missing I dont have the frantic rush to find it .
Evri just dump on the door step here

@ScottishMouse
My first fish print dress had different coloured straps , one dark, one light
No doubt they would say it was being eco friendly

ScallopShellWalk · 27/05/2026 19:01

@ScottishMouse that’s a shame and it’s a poor show from Toast. I’m thinking I don’t often look at these things, I’m not sure I notice or maybe I see things aren’t quite right but without knowing why, just don’t feel compelled to buy it. I think I’ll look more.

ScottishMouse · 27/05/2026 19:10

I am a perfectionist in many ways @ScallopShellWalk and can spot a bad hem or an uneven strap or a picture that is a couple of degrees off level a mile away. I wish I could not see these things, I am driven mad by things nobody else sees. And once I see it, I know it will always annoy me. I am currently annoyed by my fracap sandals, which have very different suede on the backs (one very smooth and thick, the other not at all smooth and thinner). I didn’t notice until after wearing them out the first time, at least I can’t see the backs when they are on.
