Interested to hear the chat about the binding skirt. I’ve worn mine a reasonable amount, I like it best at the moment with my cream Lia t shirt top. I feel it lightens it. I’ve worn it with a couple of different boots and also a pair of Mary Jane’s. I do like the look of it with a mule best but weather not my friend yet, I’ve felt the cold this year. I don’t think the material will put me off wearing it as the weather warms, if you didn’t read the label it passes for a cotton skirt. A white top also lightens it. The shirt on the other hand I’ve avoided so far but planning to use it with my linen Alix in black, possibly that will have a window of wear in spring and autumn. Sorry everyone else is finding it difficult.

Thanks for the info about Sahara @Niminy .

What do we want to see in the new drop this week?

faustina · 28/02/2026 09:39

@Niminy - thank you from me too. I looked at their store locator and there are actually two shops very near me so I'll be popping in some time soon. They do sound promising!

I'd like to see a version of the jersey skirt in a lighter, neutral colour in the new drop - and also a Kate Sheridan tote in another colour. My cumin one got soaked in salty seawater last summer and it's been very sad looking ever since

OrangeyLemon · 28/02/2026 09:56

I was wondering if any Toasties shop at The Carrier Company? I’m tempted by the Celtic Wool Jacket and I’m wondering about sizing. I would really like the boiled wool textured short coat from Toast but it’s quite pricy and I don’t think it will be in a sale any time soon.

IlovePond · 28/02/2026 10:12

@ScottishMouse and @mizu - that’s exactly how I felt about the binding skirt - so lovely but it made me look huge!

TBF, I didn’t try it on with a variety of jumpers, (which I later regretted), as I was ill over Xmas and so only briefly tried on my sale purchases before sending straight back.

I wish I had kept it for a few days and tried again as it is the sort of skirt I usually love and fitted well.

Ooh lovely shirt and dungarees combo @OftenOrange I have those dungarees in black and green (they had such a good sale price for so long!) I love that they can be dressed up and down, and esp the green ones, I look down at the beautiful fabric sometimes with a sigh. I’ll take a look at the checked shirt now!

hicat · 28/02/2026 10:30

I once bought the oat patch pocket skirt (missed it in the sale but found it on vinted) and I’ve worn it once unsuccessfully. It kind of trips me up? The material gathers weirdly as I walk and I need to readjust. Maybe the heavy weight of the fabric or I’m too short?

OftenOrange · 28/02/2026 16:56

Re Binding Skirt , I spent half an hour fiddling with it and trying with existing pieces as well as the matching shirt .

My take: Looks good with a ivory linen shirt tucked in and an old Joseph belt with lots of silverB
Liked it with a greyish navy crinkly shirt tucked in with belt .
It doesn’t look good with black , too dense for me.
The skirt plus shirt looks ok if I wear a crossbody bag to break it up and pull the back of the shirt in , as it does poof out at the back a bit.
I also like the skirt with the square toe Che Mihara boots, that’s a bonus as they were £££ and I want to get some use .

I retried Pantry Shirt and today, hurray, it feels fine in the smaller size . I can move freely if I let the sleeves ride up above elbow.
Lovely with the heavy navy poplin gathered shirt from last year and also nice with full length Annie jeans.

I wish I’d kept my lacy padded shoulder vest from 90s, I never wore the Dynasty style but loved the little vest for giving shoulder definition.
The only one online that looks good is £100, it would t be hard to make one ….

CoasttoToast · 28/02/2026 19:06

I had to trawl back through my posts to check what I did regarding the Binding skirt as when I first tried it on it was billowy over the hips.
I sized down

I havent worn it much but thats mainly due to endless rain, skirts not great if they get wet hems.

Looking forward to the March 5th update

Scotiasdarling · 01/03/2026 07:29

@IlovePond thank you for the new thread! I bought the cotton and linen neat jacket, but sent it straight back. It isn't great fabric, and in the parchment colour you could see the black of the dress I was wearing showing through but only where there were no facings, pockets etc. So where the fabric was double you couldn't see through it but that gave it an oddly patchy look.

Also oddly the quality seemed to get worse from top to bottom! The shoulders were really nicely fitted but the cuffs had narrow hems and looked a bit cheap.

I think I need a slightly more structured jacket but goodness knows where from.

Looking forward to seeing the new things.

@OrangeyLemon I’ve had my eye on that for a long time. Which colour are you going for? Let me know if it’s worth it…

Zara do them as seen on Trinny.

ScallopShellWalk · 02/03/2026 10:17

Has anyone else bought the floppy big brimmed (15cm) Sherpa hat from reworn or from 2021? I bought it and I love the look of it and the feel of it on and it’s not so expensive but I’m a little unsure how it looks on. I think I don’t yet have confidence to wear it. I wondered if anyone had it and how it is paired up with an outfit?

ScallopShellWalk · 02/03/2026 10:24

This is the only photo I have. Though the one I have is slate dark blue grey.

Thanks for that ! I like her little vests made by her dressmaker but they are very £££

How disappointing. I’ve had a yen for the jacket since it came out but one thing I can’t abide is white or cream clothes with show through pockets , facings or seams. I had some white Margaret Howell trousers with huge show through front pockets so not only Toast getting it wrong.
Plumo did have something similar .

ScallopShellWalk · 02/03/2026 15:01

I’ve decided to keep the hat anyway. It’ll be fun.

hicat · 02/03/2026 16:19

@ScallopShellWalk i love it!! I dont think I’d have the confidence (or live in the right neighbourhood) to wear it but I’d love to own one!

ScallopShellWalk · 02/03/2026 18:43

@hicat I don’t live in the right neighbourhood either. 🤣

ScottishMouse · 03/03/2026 16:14

Controversial question - does anyone feel like triangle shaped scarves have become too ubiquitous? I have quite a few - two colours of the textured one from Toast last winter, a couple from Jo Gordon, and one that was knitted for me as a gift. I bought my first one from Jo Gordon about 8 years ago when she was the only one doing them. I got a few odd comments about it at the time, then everyone else started doing them and now they are everywhere. I’m not getting so much joy from any of mine anymore ☹️

ScallopShellWalk · 03/03/2026 17:44

@ScottishMouse maybe you need a change? I recently bought the little square bronze one from toast, I really really like it. I think I’ve thrown out all my previous little scarves and just recently have missed the use of them. I’m not sure I like the triangular shape much.

ScottishMouse · 03/03/2026 18:03

@ScallopShellWalk I’ve been wearing a cashmere snood that I have had for years recently and I’ve been really liking it again. I’d like to add a small but long scarf that can go around the neck twice and tie. I have loved the triangle shape for so long now, but once I start to see something everywhere I tend to go off it. At work today about 70% of the women (mostly aged 25-45) I encountered were wearing one.

New things on the website - I’m not tempted by anything, how about you?!

ScottishMouse · 04/03/2026 17:25

I’m definitely going to try the knitted cotton linen tee, but nothing else of interest.

Saurus72 · 04/03/2026 17:33

All looks pretty uninspiring to me I have to say. I like the look of the linen cotton dress but I can’t imagine it looking good after even a little bit of time sitting in it.
