Is this too pale

We’re off to a wedding in March and my daughter wants me to enlist the MN massive to see if wearing this is ok? Is it too pale?

Looks a bit bridesmaidy unless it’s a beach wedding. Lovely dress though!

Gettingbysomehow · 22/02/2026 09:35

Is this a joke?

Bridesmaids will be in gold

It's not the colour, it's the style. That's a bridesmaids dress.

EscapadeVelocity · 22/02/2026 09:42

Is it a daytime wedding in the UK?

I know wedding styles have morphed - I do honestly know that. But if it were my late winter / early spring daytime wedding, (church / country house / barn / whatever) I would want and expect my guests to be dressed for that occasion.

There are plenty of other opportunities for summer black tie evening wear, surely?

JacknDiane · 22/02/2026 09:42

It looks lovely

IsItTooPink · 22/02/2026 09:50

We’ve been told to ‘dress to impress’ it’s in a fancy location in a big city

Sassylovesbooks · 22/02/2026 09:52

I wore an outfit of a similar colour to a wedding years ago. I'm not sure the style is quite right though for a guest...the dress does look bridesmaid. I appreciate the bridesmaid's will be in gold though. I'd go for a dress that's perhaps more knee or midi length, than full.

EscapadeVelocity · 22/02/2026 09:54

But daytime, @IsItTooPink?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/02/2026 09:55

Totally inappropriate- and I say that as someone who is very much anti ‘rules’ otherwise. You’ll look like you wanted to be a bridesmaid.

NoelEdmondsHairGel · 22/02/2026 09:56

No way. It’s too pale / wedding party. It will look like she wanted to be a bridesmaid but wasn’t invited so guessed the wrong colour.

FlatErica · 22/02/2026 09:57

Yes it is.

TikTokker · 22/02/2026 09:57

I love these posts. Of course she can’t wear that.

Is it for you or your daughter? Either way, it’s a no.

Gettingbysomehow · 22/02/2026 09:59

Every day there is a post like this with a bride like dress involved. No it is not suitable at all. Why not just add a veil and be done with it.
First rule of weddings. Its the bride's big day dont upstage her or wear anything even remotely bride like.
This is 100% unsuitable and Id be livid if someone turned up to my daughters wedding wearing this.

Foggytree · 22/02/2026 09:59

Not suitable for a church wedding i would say.

HappyFace2025 · 22/02/2026 10:01

I'll go against the grain and say if the bridesmaids are in gold then this lovely dress is fine. Might need a cover up as it'll be cold in the church.

CraftandGlamour · 22/02/2026 10:01

There's dress to impress and then there's dress like you're in the wedding party. This definitely falls into the latter category (although you look lovely in it, BTW just not for a wedding unless you're also walking up the aisle)

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 22/02/2026 10:01

Looks like a bridesmaids dress. So no.

EscapadeVelocity · 22/02/2026 10:02

This is a day dress suitable for a daytime wedding:

https://www.acnestudios.com/uk/en/printed-midi-dress-purple-green/A20895-AMI.html?g=woman

As is this:

https://www.stories.com/en-gb/product/scarf-neck-midi-dress-greenmicro-dots-1322598002/

As is this co-ord set:

https://int.toteme.com/products/striped-mini-skirt-ice-white

And in March velvet and (fake) fur and shearling and beautiful glossy boots will still be seasonally appropriate.

I would find it so odd if people didn’t make the most of the actual time and season of my event.

nowayho · 22/02/2026 10:04

If it’s ’dress to impress’, then I think it’s fine!
Yes, it’s a bit bridesmaid-ee, but it looks absolutely amazing on her (if that’s her in the pic).

I think she should wear it.

Viviennemary · 22/02/2026 10:04

It isn't suitable for a wedding guest. But lovely dress.

I’d think someone got dressed in the dark wearing any of those options. They are awful especially the last one. That said, I do think the dress posted by the OP is a bridesmaids dress.

The middle one could be OK if correctly accessorised, but 1 & 3 are way too casual (and migrane-inducing, in the first case).
