How to get rid of chin hairs when your eye sight is not so great (thanks menopause!))

Just that. I can feel them but I can't see them, even with my glasses, a magnifying mirror and all the lights on 🙄I usually just get the razor out and give my chin a once over but I don't think that is the best solution...
Any tips?

I have one of those flawless mini razor things, give my face a quick blast once a week.
For the really stubborn fuckers I keep tweezers in the car - they show up great in the sunvisor mirror!

MsSmartShoes · 31/01/2026 00:22

You need a magnifying mirror. Is there a close friend that you can have a surveillance pact with?

TinDogTavern · 31/01/2026 00:23

I mascara mine so I can see them, then tweeze.

I can’t decide if I’m a total genius or batshit mental.

You are a genius!

I have a magnifying mirror with its own light - it plugs into the mains. It was £10 a few years ago at Boots, but the only ones I can see there at the moment use batteries or are expensive. Amazon?

As you say I feel for the bristly horrors, at least the new light coloured ones. Then I look for the darker ones, which are softer.

moggerhanger · 31/01/2026 00:35

I give my chin a buzz with an epilator!

patooties · 31/01/2026 00:43

do people taking razors to their faces not end up with stubble?
I have 4 hairs (that’s it) I can pull the fuckers without a mirror as they got from zero to sancho panza overnight. Car tweezers are your friend.

She has one.

I just work the tweezers along opening and closing and hope they grab something!

ChattyCatty25 · 31/01/2026 00:45

Get electrolysis, remove them permanently

TOTAL GENIUS. I salute you. I can still just about see mine in my insanely strong hand mirror at the moment but I will remember that I can mascara my chin when that fails me.

CrotchetyQuaver · 31/01/2026 01:22

I have a super dooper decent size magnifying mirror I bought off Amazon and tweezerman tweezers as they're the best ones I've found. Mirror goes on the windowsill on a sunny day and the hairs are easy to find and pluck. There's a pube type hair that's taken to growing on my neck although I haven't seen it for a few months - I have to get one of my daughters to pull that one though, I just can't do it on my own...

Overtheatlantic · 31/01/2026 01:25

The woman who does my eyebrows kindly informs me when I’m growing a moustache and chin hairs and waxes them.

minnowonthesay · 31/01/2026 06:48

I do various things, they all work, it just depends on how busy or bothered I am or the time of day.

Braun IPL for the darker ones, good long term but needs redoing every 4 months
Microwaveable hot wax, stroke it on, whip it off
Teeezers with a light inside them, good light changes everything!
Facial epilator - super quick, can be used over makeup
Dermaplane razors, night time only

I try to tweeze by touch, like Helen Keller. It’s like a fairground game, but I don’t pay a fiver for three tries, or win a cuddly Stitch. I’m usually successful around the 38th attempt.

I am definitely trying the mascara!

WinterFrogs · 31/01/2026 06:56

I do mine by feel as well, with the opening and closing technique thrown in. It's such a thrill when you get one isn't it?

The mascara and car tweezer tips are genius!

Magnifying mirror held with phone light on

Footle · 31/01/2026 07:01

I have one of the Tweezerman spring things but I can’t make it work. Must be doing it wrong.

Pineneedlesincarpet · 31/01/2026 07:06

One of my favourite things in the world is catching one of the four bad hairs in the tweezers (two on chin; two above lip). Its so satisfying. Little treat every three days or so.

Can I ask...what do people do about face fuzz. I don't have masses and it's fair so not really visible. But I do worry in sunlight that I have a Timotei face. Do many people do the dermaplaning? It seems a big step....

Tallisker · 31/01/2026 00:12

Get one of these Tweezerman spring thingies, they’re brilliant. You don’t even need a mirror, I use mine when I’m watching the telly

How do you use this please? Just roll it over?

I do. It takes a minute, just a quick whack over every couple of weeks. And contrary to folklore, it doesn’t grow back thick and stubbly. It grows back exactly the same as if you’d used cream. I get the Superdrug dermaplaning tools. They’re £5 for a pack of six.

caffelatte100 · 31/01/2026 07:21

i have mine threaded off by my beautician.

Lurleenlumpkin79 · 31/01/2026 07:31

I epilate the little buggers but they always reappear. I might consider electrolysis but I'm worried I would need to grow a tache first, before the treatment. The other week I found a curly black hair sprouting out of the front of my neck that was so long it had wound its way round -mortified! I was at work and didn't have the necessary tools, so I grabbed a pair of stationary scissors and cut it down.

Yes what is it about them that they aren’t there and then you come back from being with people and you’ve a really long hair. I think they sense when you are about to be in close proximity to people and that gives them a growth spurt.
