Just that. I can feel them but I can't see them, even with my glasses, a magnifying mirror and all the lights on 🙄I usually just get the razor out and give my chin a once over but I don't think that is the best solution...
Any tips?

Tweezing and epilating my upper lip and chin resulted in redness and whiteheads at the time and now, 10 years later, hyperpigmentation. I’m having to have laser treatment.

I have been using a facial razor for 6 years and have seen no stubble or thicker growth. My hair is very blonde though and mostly fine apart from a few that seem to be made from cheese wire. I can imagine that dark, thick hair might result in stubble.

How do you use this please? Just roll it over?

You hold the pink bits and turn the silver bits while holding the spring bit against your face. With practice you find the best angle. The silver bits have arrows on them to show which way to turn, it soon becomes automatic. Gets some getting used to, but I wouldn’t be without mine now. Painful on the upper lip at first but with use the hairs become finer and fewer.

It’s good on fuzz too. Sometimes it’s difficult to get the big buggers with it, but having removed all the little ones and the fuzz, the big ones become more visible and accessible with tweezers - the mascara tip is genius!

@Additup Blonde hairs can still look terrible. Mine are long so I look like Fu Manchu Barbie or a would-be Viking warrior if I don’t do something about them!

DollopOfFun · 31/01/2026 10:28

Mascara and bulldog clips.
This is the shit that I am here for Mumsnet. ✊

I have dark hair and my chin hairs are white!

ittakes2 · 31/01/2026 10:43

The only ones I struggle to find is the ones give white so I am wondering if this is your problem

Girl2345 · 31/01/2026 11:00

I'm afraid I'm a daily shaver like a man mine are so thick and noticeably I have to and I hate it but needs must

RainySundayAfternoon · 31/01/2026 11:09

@TheProvincialLady Fu Manchu Barbie 🤣🤣
Sadly I can relate!!

RainySundayAfternoon · 31/01/2026 11:10

I am kicking myself for not using the Lumea while my chin hairs were still all black - now 70% white so that’s not an option any more 🤦🏻‍♀️

Allaboutthecats · 31/01/2026 11:11

You need a teenager. Mine pulls out my greys - am sure she would do facial hair too.

Tonissister · 31/01/2026 11:12

caffelatte100 · 31/01/2026 07:21

i have mine threaded off by my beautician.

I think this is the most reliable way.

But I use tweezers and my ordinary leg razor.

Pentalagon · 31/01/2026 11:17

I carry tweezers in my pocket. Sometimes I panic and think my appendix has regrown and burst again, but it’s worth the occasional accidental stabbing to be able to attack when the light is right.

cuberoot · 31/01/2026 13:49

I use the facial wax strips, the same I use for my moustache, because the fuckers grow usually well below my chin so it would be impossible for me to see them. Strips usually catch them.

I've always, since I was about 6 suffered with facial hair. My Mum used to Jolen bleach my tache but not as often as she should have done and kids would say something now and then and I've always been self-conscious.

I IPL'ed it with a Philips Lumea and that was amazing but then I had a shit-ton of vellus blonde hair like a fucking Viking beard and some are irrationally long.

It's made me so self concious on sunny days or even worse, in the cold it all sticks up out like I'm a Dilophosaurus 😩 I have to answer the door and serve at work and I'm always having to smoothe my cheeks down. Because it's blonde I can't even IPL it although I treated myself at Christmas to a Braun IPL (my Lumea must be 10 years old!) and decided I'd use it on my cheeks and the difference has been amazing. There must have been more odd brown hairs than I realised because after about 4 weeks of using the Braun on them the blonde hairs have diminished. I know they say IPL won't work on blonde but I'm shocked at the difference.
I've also started plucking the worst offenders and I decided if the fuckers come back dark that's fine, I'll just IPL them.

PatchouliPrincess · 31/01/2026 17:47

Has anyone ever tried Vaniqa? It's supposed to stop it growing

Single50something · 31/01/2026 18:06

Occasionally I annoy the teen and ask them to get them got them for me.. sometimes 50p a go..worth it for the good eye sight :)

Get electrolysis, remove them permanently

Very few places seem to do it these days. Laser treatment was much more effective but now the hairs are returning with the menopause and going white. Nowhere anywhere near me seems to do electrolysis .

TinDogTavern · 31/01/2026 00:23

I mascara mine so I can see them, then tweeze.

I can’t decide if I’m a total genius or batshit mental.

Genius!!

Ileithyia · 31/01/2026 18:18

I use a 5x magnifying mirror for eye brow tidying, or get them threaded. Pretty sure this would work in chin hairs too. If a 5x magnifying mirror doesn’t show them I doubt they are visible to anyone else.

You can buy them x20???? 😱 Where did you get it from? Mine is x10 and I still can't see the bristly buggers.

user593 · 31/01/2026 18:22

I have been using this - https://amzn.eu/d/bTiehUa. I have a lot of chin hair though and it grows back really fast. I had my first session of laser hair removal a couple of weeks ago and hardly any of it has grown back. I’ve got another five sessions booked. I can’t imagine it won’t be totally gone by then. It’s such a relief!

HelenaTranscart · 31/01/2026 18:32

Treat yourself, visit a beautician - they're great for treating "hobbit feet" too, another delight of menopause no one tells you about

Hereagain2 · 31/01/2026 18:33

I use the sun visor in the car. Best mirror and light

Yep same here, Ive got an epilator but they still dont get the very little ones out that are too small to get out but long enough to feel and be seen, they glint in the sun

I also get black hairs that are growing but wont come out quite yet so you see them for ages just on or underneath the skin. Nothing I can do.

I can feel some now, I have no hope of seeing them in the mirror, magnified with all the lights, I have no hope of getting them out with tweeezers because they're too little

Razor it is.
