How to get rid of chin hairs when your eye sight is not so great (thanks menopause!))

Just that. I can feel them but I can't see them, even with my glasses, a magnifying mirror and all the lights on 🙄I usually just get the razor out and give my chin a once over but I don't think that is the best solution...
Any tips?

Does using the spring thing not hurt like fuck?

I try to tweeze by touch, like Helen Keller. It’s like a fairground game, but I don’t pay a fiver for three tries, or win a cuddly Stitch. I’m usually successful around the 38th attempt.

I am definitely trying the mascara!

Love this post 😂

I am another who always has tweezers nearby and tend to tweeze by feel whilst watching TV. I asked my DH what he would put in a ' memory box ' of me and tweezers was the first thing!! I then had to ask whether he would prefer to be married to a bearded lady, or put up with the tweezing during film watching🤣

Lostearrings · 31/01/2026 07:44

I conveniently have a scathing teenage DD in the house who is so embarrassed at the thought of any of her friends seeing me with a chin hair that she will point them out, go & get the tweezers and remove them promptly.

I have one of those flawless mini razor things, give my face a quick blast once a week.
For the really stubborn fuckers I keep tweezers in the car - they show up great in the sunvisor mirror!

Yes this, I have tweezers in my dashboard pocket because it’s always when I’m sat at a traffic light enjoying a rare ray of sunshine that the bastards pop up on my chin glinting in the light.

RampantIvy · 31/01/2026 07:49

Braun Silk-Epil epilator and tweezers.

I have been short sighted all my life and hated it, but now it comes in handy as I can read small print and find unwanted hairs without my glasses.

Presbyopia occurs in many people after 40 in men and women. The eye's lens loses flexibility and you struggle to focus on close objects.

The menopause has nothing to do with it.

BobInABoat · 31/01/2026 07:52

I have a magnifying mirror that is 2 times magnification on one mirror and 10 times on the other mirror, it is a massive compact and I have a smaller version in my handbag. Both have a light. I use tweezers but only have one chin hair at the minute.

DistractMe · 31/01/2026 07:53

I get it all waxed off every 5 or 6 weeks at the same time I get my brows done and tweeze any stray sprouters in between. I use a 10x magnifying mirror.

thereare4lights · 31/01/2026 07:57

Very jealous of people with chin hair in the single digits.I have well over 100 (like to count as I pluck). I have a facial epilator at my work desk, which I idly rub over my face during dull meetings. 10 x magnifying mirror in bathroom with decent tweezers and do a quick chin razor in the shower in case I've missed any.

loislovesstewie · 31/01/2026 08:38

Just use an epilator, you don't have to see well to use it. I run mine over my face a couple of times a week, then run my hands over to see if I can feel anything. Been doing that for years. You can tell by touch if any have survived the first run.

I live in permanent fear of forgetting to switch my Teams camera off while doing something like that.

Nothing to do with eyesight and everything to do with having a hairy chin though!

I have tweezers in the car at all times but am on the road to having them permanently removed with a combination of electrolysis for the white ones and laser for the darker ones.

HostaCentral · 31/01/2026 08:53

My DD does them for me 😁

SheshesheShineOn · 31/01/2026 08:54

I have a small 32x magnifying mirror and a spotlight with the power of a thousand suns. I need to take my varifocals off though! I also epilate my goatee area to get the white blonde ones. Hopefully they'll all go white in the end, won't they?

Bufftailed · 31/01/2026 08:54

Have had two laser sessions. Working a great. The plucking wasn’t cutting it. Not cheap but can space every two months

Coffeeishot · 31/01/2026 08:55

I just get mine waxed, my hairdresser does it,i am there every 8weeks. I has one of those handheld things but it left my face rashy.

I mascara mine so I can see them, then tweeze.

I can’t decide if I’m a total genius or batshit mental.

That is possibly the best advice I have ever read. Genius

Wonderbug81 · 31/01/2026 09:27

Use a home laser and blitz them. You have to shave in between but the laser works pretty fast depending on the type of hair growth. Then you'll never have to deal with it again.

But if you mascara them and they are blonde hairs then your pulling them out unnecessarily surely?

RainySaturday · 31/01/2026 09:36

Bulldog clip. You don't need to be exact and you can get a couple out each time. Just be careful not to pinch your skin. No mirror needed - you can do it watching the telly.

RainySaturday · 31/01/2026 09:40

I once had the tweezers out sorting out my chin at traffic lights and a van full of builders sat next to me laughing.....never did it again.

Denim4ever · 31/01/2026 09:52

My late mum was blind and she could usually do hers by touch. Another vote for tweezerman. Mum also had a little razor thingy but she wasn't a fan.

I find that the natural light in our bathroom is the best for identifying any chin hairs. The light needs to come from the side, so switching on the bathroom mirror lights makes it more tricky
