Anyone also crazy about this Dune bag?

I know it’s very similar to the Bottega Venetta Hop.

I saw it for the first time yesterday, they’ve got some lovely colours and I’m especially inclined towards either the light brown or the blush pink. Reviews on their website are good but would love to hear any MNetters opinions, especially those who have the bag!

I like this but wouldn’t pay that price for synthetic.

The sales assistant said it’s leather. It’s also got a suede mix.

It’s lovely, I like the green one. But I’m not ‘crazy’ about it. I wouldn’t pay that for polyurethane, which is what the website says.

I think it’s because I’ve always liked that style (Bottega), but don’t have a spare £3750 or something, to buy the ‘original’.

It’s not leather though

Now confused because the website clearly says synthetic, while reviewers say leather, as did the SA. Think there’s a slight difference between some of the bags. I’ve seen them in the shop.

Synthetic leather is preferable to me anyway. It’s a lovely bag.

It’s not for me, but I don’t like the woven leather look in general. I don’t even like the Bottega ones.

I like the look of it in the darker colours (I think the lighter colours look cheap and plasticky - obviously the darker colours are also plastic, but they carry it off better!).

The reviews are good. The popper closure looks like it would be awkward to use.

Ultimately I wouldn't buy it because it's synthetic and I don't think it would last well. But then I have a thing about bags being leather, and I'm not really bothered about the woven look. If you really love the woven look then it could be a good affordable option.

Exactly. It will end up in landfill within a year. Even if you barely use it it will start to peel. Along with all the other PU bags, jackets, sofas, etc.

£130 for a pleather bag? Nope

Unlined so will collect detrius from whatever you put inside and will probably stretch as there is nothing to stabilise it

Sorry no, it looks like it would feel horrible to the touch. And it is just generally not that nice. I don’t love the Bottega bag it is ripped off from either, but it is much less nice than that bag anyway. Would rather save up for the real thing, if I wanted a bag which looked like that.

No that was not my intention. I went on Dune, found the bag and posted the link so that people could see what I was referring to. If I’ve posted a wrong link, I’ll delete it. First time I put up a link for anything. Really no need to be this aggressive. Everything is not ill-intentioned.
