Anyone also crazy about this Dune bag?

I know it’s very similar to the Bottega Venetta Hop.

I saw it for the first time yesterday, they’ve got some lovely colours and I’m especially inclined towards either the light brown or the blush pink. Reviews on their website are good but would love to hear any MNetters opinions, especially those who have the bag!

I bought the olive green one last year .... but being an ignoramus of most things 'designer' (other than the very obvious like Birkin or Kelly bags) I had no idea it was a dupe. I just liked the size and colour!

OP, like another PP I would just be thinking of all the dirt that would accumulate in a non-lined plastic woven bag!

I bought this M&S one last year and had no idea it was a designer dupe till I googled it after reading this thread, it was just a lovely bag. And £45.

Can't say I'm a fan, I am one of those bag people though and do spent a fortune on ones I like. I think that one is over priced for what it is and looks a bit too busy/messy and not as neat as BV make theirs so not really comparable there.
Huge too, I don't carry enough for big bags these days.

I hadn’t thought about there not being any lining until a no. of posters pointed it out. If used sparingly maybe it won’t get dirty …

I saw this bag in Dune today. It’s nice, but no way would I pay that money for a PVC bag. I have a very similar bag from Dune from about 15 years ago. It’s larger but fully leather and I don’t think I paid more than £90 for it. It’s still almost perfect. I think PVC would just disintegrate over time.

PS. If you like that style, there are loads of real leather ones for sale on Etsy for similar prices to the Dune synthetic one.

This one is similar but the fastening would annoy me , having to carry it like a recalcitrant toddler would make me love it less .

Maybe non animal skin is a choice not a cheap option ( when it isn't cheaper )
I do wonder how very cheap leather ends up in our shops .
Costs are cut somewhere . Either animal welfare or the people who manufacture ?

Actually I wasn't even thinking of the obvious solution to that. I use a "handbag liner" with pockets, so when I change handbags I just haul it out and put it in the other one.

Also I have a small Ganni cross-body handbag, and in order for everything to not just become mulch in it I sourced a small handbag liner with sections and pockets on Amazon, and it's very manageable.

Interestingly, I've just been looking at some of the actual Bottega Veneta bags online, and they don't seem to be lined either!

It’s nice but in my experience anything woven like that starts to look tatty quickly, it says synthetic so I imagine it’s faux leather and that’s what reviewers are referring to. So it seems a lot to pay really. But if you like it and can afford it, buy it!

It might be an issue with synthetic materials? A friend had an original BV that she used extensively and it never got dirty.

For woven leather, I prefer Falor. Leather, not synthetic, and cost reflects quality, not label.

Then she is like me. Never put your handbag on the floor. And never put your handbag on the table.

ETA: But loving having a BV bag as your general daily handbag. I would never dare 😆

I almost bought that bag last year until I realised it wasn’t leather . Just wouldn’t pay £140 for a non leather bag . Got a great leather bag on eBay for £60 vintage and stylish .

I’m the same. She used it for years. It was sturdy.

OP, I like the bag & range of colours and think it would be a lovely spring style, but agree with others it is not worth it for unlined synthetic.

It’s very nice but not leather according to the description.
