Some are head to toe brown. Some are half brown, half beige.

What a boring trend indeed!

Well it's 2025 and at last women are allowed to wear what they want, men can't force them not to anymore in the UK! But women are allowed to slag them off and criticise their free choice to wear brown clothes. Women will never win! If I wear a rainbow outfit I'm garish, brown I'm boring, short I'm a slut, long I'm a prude. If I have filler I'm ugly, if I have wrinkles I'm ugly. If my hair goes grey I'm old, if I dye it brown I'm trying top hard to not look old.

When oh when will mumsnet return to what it used to be- a place to talk about women and mothers in positive and constructive ways? Where style and beauty was for talking about which handbag to pair with these shoes, or where can I get the dress someone wore on Corrie? Instead every other thread is "This outfit is hideous, pile on the women who wear it"

MyIvyGrows · 25/11/2025 13:54

Everything comes and goes. I’ll collect my brown boots from Schuh later and hopefully my brown fine knit sweater arrives via Vinted soon. Next year it’ll be the 80s revival again.

DarkEyedSailor · 25/11/2025 13:56

I'm electric blue and suffragette purple and pale grey.

PinkFootstool · 25/11/2025 13:57

Agreed. I have loathed this brown trend since it appeared - especially when paired with skin tone leggings so you look like you're naked from the waist down.

DeQuin · 25/11/2025 13:57

purple and grey here ... can't stand brown.

ChangeIsDue · 25/11/2025 13:57

It makes a change from everyone being dressed in black!

ApolloandDaphne · 25/11/2025 13:58

I'm loving the brown revival.

juniorcakeoff · 25/11/2025 13:58

God I remember this from the first time round-maybe 1999? I looked like a KitKat. Not doing it again

RaraRachael · 25/11/2025 13:59

This is exactly why I won't be buying any new clothes this winter - chocolate brown everywhere - no thanks. I hate browns and beiges and they don't suit me.

It's the same sludgy colours - with a bit of yucky olive green thrown in for good measure - in every shop. At least I'll be saving money by carrying on wearing my old stuff.

Hopefully this trend won't last long!

Checknotmymate · 25/11/2025 14:00

I am adding brown bits to blue outfits. So brown boots or a jacket. I can't do more than that. I'm summer palette so most browns make me look weird.

CarolinaInTheMorning · 25/11/2025 14:00

I'm in the US; it's everywhere here as well. I quite like it, especially the darker colors. A nice change from black and gray.

Thenamechangecometh · 25/11/2025 14:01

I absolutely love it, brown chocolate camel caramel all make me look soooo much better, christ knows we had draining blacks and greys for about a millennium it felt like so I am cracking on.

Octavia64 · 25/11/2025 14:02

green and red here.

lalaloopyhead · 25/11/2025 14:06

I am loving all the brown things this year, as it is really suits my colouring.

I love brightly coloured things but have learnt that they really don't do me any favours - I am not overly bothered what other people wear though.

TroysMammy · 25/11/2025 14:07

I want brown trousers mainly because I have brown boots and sometimes fed up of jeans but I do think that autumn and winter colours should be bright and not muted and I don't mean Christmas red either. If I do find brown trousers that fit my awkward size I won't be wearing a green top. A couple of baubles attached to my boob area and I'll look like a dumpy Christmas tree.

See, I look fabulous in olive green 😂 Pale skin, reddish brown hair and hazel eyes and green shades really set off my colours!

Brown jackets and and boots aren't really a trend, they are timeless.

Brown clinging trousers, drapy tops and zip up velour jumpers or brown clinging faux knit dresses seem to be the plus size go to amongst PS Instagram influencers and they all look absolutely bloody awful. So much so, I've stopped following a few of my usual people because it's so rubbish.

AmyDuPlantier · 25/11/2025 14:09

My favourite thing about is that a lot of people are using phrasing like ‘warm chocolate brown cardigan’ as if to make it better.

Its a brown cardi; I’m not sure anything is making it particularly stylish tbh.

PersephonePomegranate · 25/11/2025 14:10

It's not my favourite either, but other people are allowed to like it. Other times there will be fashions I love and some people hate. No big deal, just sit this one out.

LilyCanna · 25/11/2025 14:10

Haven’t noticed that here, it’s the same old thing of almost everyone in black coats on the high street. And even colourful scarves seem to have gone out of fashion in recent years, it’s just wall-to-wall black black black grey black black navy black black black.

Though to be fair that’s outer wear, they might have colourful (or brown!) jumpers underneath. Still depressing though.

Terrribletwos · 25/11/2025 14:17

Everywhere seems a bit anti stylish atm and I would say for the last few years, at least.

It's very rare nowadays one sees men or women dressed stylishly (and I don't mean by what fashion dictates), it all seems to be communist style clothing, no individuality.

HelloCharming · 25/11/2025 14:38

I'm loving this year - not so much the browns, but the plums, greens etc. Really suit me.

Turnitoffnonagain · 25/11/2025 14:38

My school uniform was brown, with yellow accents, horrible.
I'm embracing the berry colours atm, got a nice wine velvet coat.

Same! One of the only colours which suits me 😃

I can't see the harm in a poster saying they don't like brown and beige. I agree a lot of them are boring and dull. But they do suit some folk., I like plumbs and dark greens though.
