Some are head to toe brown. Some are half brown, half beige.

What a boring trend indeed!

Beige just reminds me of my mother and her cronies. Virtually all of them dressed in head to toe beige.

PuppyMonkey · 25/11/2025 21:56

Brown is the new black, as someone said about 25 years ago. I quite like it but I have no interest in leggings and thankfully haven’t seen anyone dressed in them round here. Brown fluffy jumpers and brown jeans for me. All from Vinted (before it went to shit with the sizing change).

So according to this thread everyone likes this style? This is what I saw a lot of today, including loads of sad beige children.

It’s horrible especially adults in matching babygros 🤮

I hate these colours, nobody suits them. Depressing

That's just not true, and you know it. I don't like brown because it doesn't suit me, but loads of people do look nice in brown. They would look awful in the colours that suit me. We all have different colouring.

I love black and was really sad it's out

Don't pay any attention to colour trends and just stick to what suits you.

FastTurtle · 25/11/2025 22:10

I look great in brown and rust, tan, wine, khaki, all the autumnal colours.

TheOGCCL · 25/11/2025 22:28

I’m glad brown has come round again, just wish it would stay as a core neutral like grey, black and navy. It’s probably my best colour.

Having said that I have a chocolate brown coat I bought pre pandemic - which now looks highly fashionable- so it was clearly around before.

Beige is different, there are some horrible taupey tones around that suit very few people and is pretty drab.

ZenNudist · 25/11/2025 22:29

I'm not buying brown. I'm triggered by the Boho trend of the 00s. I keep seeing clothes I wore 20 years ago.

Denim4ever · 25/11/2025 22:30

Browns this year are a bit muddy. I prefer a bolder and warmer shade of brown and contrasted with orangey, russety red

TroysMammy · 25/11/2025 22:35

My DM used to have auburn hair and it was drummed into her not to wear colours that "clashed". Therefore all she used to wear was brown, cream and green. I once bought a beige padded jacket when I was in my 20s and my DM told me she really liked the colour and style. It quickly became a charity shop donation.

I've just - literally half an hour ago - had a wine velvet coat delivered from White Stuff! Just debating whether to keep it or not as it doesn't seem very thick / warm although I do love the colour and style....

Where is yours from??

I have this coat (in mid blue). It's surprisingly warm although not snow-weather warm.

Floisme · 26/11/2025 06:13

I sympathise with anyone trying to buy bright colours but, if you’re complaining because black and grey have been temporarily knocked off their perch, then you can kindly and with the greatest respect, do one.

RampantIvy · 26/11/2025 06:18

TBH I can't say that I have noticed a lot of brown and beige where I live. People just dress for the weather or in what suits them.

ledmeup · 26/11/2025 06:39

Recent cold snap in London & it’s all black duvet coats. Hats & scarves are muted too as pp said.

ledmeup · 26/11/2025 06:45

@brownbeigeblah I dislike that style of dressing regardless of colour tbh.

Ghhhn · 26/11/2025 06:47

Surely this is more suitable for this time of year.

I remember Hilary Rose writing in the Times years ago that no one ever went anywhere nice wearing brown. That made me laugh. I agree.

mistyeveningponder · 26/11/2025 07:20

Hmmm, I dont know- remember Catherine Trammell in basic instinct?- they styled her in all brown, beige, white and grey and she looked bloody amazing and sexy as hell. If done right, it can look stunning.

I dont think you need rainbow colours to look good personally

Beckywiththegoodnails · 26/11/2025 07:20

I’m a “soft autumn” so I’ve always worn a lot of brown and am torn between being pleased there’s lots of choice in the shops and annoyed I look like I’m on a bandwagon!

Completely agree and I think these neutrals can look very classy. Especially with the right accessories. I’m not a missive fan of bright colours day to day

In the summer I may wear a red dress or a bit more colour but on the whole Iike a lot of neutrals.

But Sharon Stone could wear anything and look beautiful & sexy…

I disagree.
I am a jewel winter and neutrals and sludgy colours just drain me unless I have a pop of a bright colour.

Today I am wearing a red cashmere jumper with slim black jeans.

Myblueclematis · 26/11/2025 08:16

If I wear anything that is cream/beige, I have to wear a darker colour with it i.e. navy or black. If I just wore the pale colours I would look as if I'd died, I have very fair complexion and blondish hair colouring. so very pale colours do me no favours.

I wea a lot of different shades of blue, it's my favourite colour.

I have a friend who wears bright red quite often, she often says you should never be afraid to wear colour. She's 75.

Owly11 · 26/11/2025 08:19

I am wearing my chocolate brown cords with autumnal orange - not dull at all and lovely for someone like me that can't wear black and wants a change from navy.

I mean, thats a fair point 😂

But, I still think the neutrals brought out her beauty. Black or very strong colours may have diminished it. Obviously totally depends on your skin tone too of course

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 26/11/2025 08:22

Perfect for me, the warm rich browns and warmer neutrals. The cool neutrals and darks, greys and blacks wash me out something chronic and look cheap (on me), so it's nice to see stuff I can buy.
