Some are head to toe brown. Some are half brown, half beige.

What a boring trend indeed!

I disagree.
I am a jewel winter and neutrals and sludgy colours just drain me unless I have a pop of a bright colour.

Today I am wearing a red cashmere jumper with slim black jeans.

Red looks bloody awful on me though - thats the point, if it suits your skin tone, neutrals can look stunning

I’m a “soft autumn” so I’ve always worn a lot of brown and am torn between being pleased there’s lots of choice in the shops and annoyed I look like I’m on a bandwagon!

The bandwagon stops at our door about every 20-30 years, so I think we should choose to be pleased and also stock up before it turns around and trundles back to black with accents of grey.

Delatron · 26/11/2025 08:33

It’s all about what suits you. Swerve the trend if it doesn’t. I’m pleased as the endless burgundy trend did not suit me!

Tillygan60 · 26/11/2025 08:42

Can't do beige but a brown jumper really suits me. Agree that brown makes a change from grey.

Abracadabra12 · 26/11/2025 08:49

I’m wearing a brown jumper, black jeans, a camel cot and a tan handbag - I love warm, sludgy colours!

But that's what suits you, not what suits everyone - you think everyone should wear bright colour regardless of their skin tone? What are you actually disagreeing with?

I've never found a shade of red that really suits me, black and white both wash me out unless I have a decent tan, and the lovely cobalt blue that suits my mum looks shit on me. I suit the sludge colours, I've been wearing brown/beige/khaki/burgundy for years and am delighted that the shops are suddenly full of colours that look nice on me. Long live the brown.

I'm disagreeing that no-one needs bright colours to look good. Some of us do.

StarlightLady · 26/11/2025 10:45

Well, if you see me when out and about, l come in full colour! Even my glasses. I refuse to be a beige person. 🌟

RaraRachael · 26/11/2025 13:26

I've just been shopping in the big town and can honestly say I did not notice what anyone was wearing.
I am in a black long top with a white heart pattern and (horror of MN horror) black leggings with a blackl ong puffy coat.
As you can tell I pay no heed to fashion trends 😅

Empress13 · 26/11/2025 13:31

I bloody love chocolate brown it’s the new black. I’m surprised that you haven’t mentioned burgundy also as that’s the trend at mo. Just wear what you like OP no one will care

RampantIvy · 26/11/2025 13:54

I am travelling by train today and haven't seen anyone in brown on either of the two trains I have been on so far or in any of the three stations.

Black is still very much favoured for outer wear.

UnpaintedLily · 26/11/2025 14:21

The puzzle is why cord trousers always seem to come in several versions of brown. And a boring blue. If I'm buying corduroy I want something a bit more exciting, something that doesn't feel as mundane as jeans.

Am I the only person for whom the combination of brown+corduroy has resoundingly negative connotations? It seems so.

UpMyself · 26/11/2025 14:21

chocolate brown it’s the new black. It's not.

Floisme · 26/11/2025 14:28

I love my brown cords, they look great with a gold sparkly top if I do say so myself.

ledmeup · 26/11/2025 14:33

Nope, despite having a flared Miss Selfridge pair that I lived in during my late teens it just reminds me of teachers & lecturers!

RaraRachael · 25/11/2025 13:59

This is exactly why I won't be buying any new clothes this winter - chocolate brown everywhere - no thanks. I hate browns and beiges and they don't suit me.

It's the same sludgy colours - with a bit of yucky olive green thrown in for good measure - in every shop. At least I'll be saving money by carrying on wearing my old stuff.

Hopefully this trend won't last long!

It's awful isn't it? The fashion for greigey beigey homes is matched in clothing.

You won't be able to see people in their homes, they'll blend in so well.

A sea of dullness.

yomellamoHelly · 26/11/2025 14:41

I suit brown and beige so quite happy that I'm able to buy more stuff in the colours I want than usual. No one would comment if it were black and I absolutely cannot get away with it nowadays. (Washes me out.)

Catwoman8 · 26/11/2025 14:57

To the person who said nobody suits brown, what a load of rubbish. There are different shades of brown, I look great in a deep chocolate shade of brown, but the caramel brown colour looks awful.

I like the trend as it makes a change from black and I hate grey which washes me out.

I don't have any shade of brown in my palette because no shade of brown suits me.. I also think that colours shouldn't be trends

UpMyself · 26/11/2025 15:08

I don't want to wear any shade of brown or beige.
It won't suit me because I won't be happy wearing it.

That sounds like a more glamorous take on corduroy than I think I have come across. I think of all the beiges and browns as 'gourmand neutrals' (caramel, toffee, biscuit, cappuccino, latte, nutmeg, cinnamon, chocolate, walnut etc.), which makes your outfit luxury lebkuchen!

Idontjetwashthefucker · 26/11/2025 16:09

I love brown! Im wearing a brown cord pinafore dress with a navy polo, navy tights and brown boots...i think it looks good

BestZebbie · 26/11/2025 16:23

juniorcakeoff · 25/11/2025 13:58

God I remember this from the first time round-maybe 1999? I looked like a KitKat. Not doing it again

Yes, definitely 1999 because I was in Upper Sixth and had both chocolate and caramel sets of trousers, chenille jumpers and ankle boots to make a 'mix and match capsule wardrobe' a la Cosmopolitan magazine.

The majority of people in the UK have brown hair of some shade, surely?
So there ought to be some sort of brown to suit them by co-ordinating with the brown in their hair.

amibeingaknob · 26/11/2025 16:26

Funny cos Im in heaven. Im pale with red hair and I always wear these colours in winter cos I suit them - now Im actually fashionable! lol
