The regulars on the thread mainly discuss luxury BAC and this dies down by September when everyone has purchased and forgotten the contents. Then it goes into discussion on what’s selling out, what hasn’t and what deals and discounts to be had on ACs in the lead up to December. Then in December we move onto AC opening threads!

I've been lurking on these threads but yet to post. Like others I'm disappointed with M&S as was hoping for a spectacular one this year. Space NK is currently the winner for me but feels a little out of budget at the moment as I've had lots to pay out recently. However, the amount of gifted calendars they've given out makes me feel less inclined to spend so much money. Everytime I go on tiktok there's a new tiktoker with a gifted calendar (quite right too, it's their job) but if they have so much advertising budget, surely they can lower the price a teeny bit for us all 🤣) Does that make sense?

Welcome @Moofart I'm a bit torn on influencers because I do like a nice unboxing video to really work out what I think of a calendar but I also prefer it when it's someone who has just bought one for themselves. I don't think they probably need to send out as many as they do but I'm not a marketing person so maybe it pays off.

Yes i love a good unboxing video too. I quite like watching influencer videos and don't see the products they have as 'freebies' as such as they certainly have to put the work into the videos to produce them and edit them along with any written content that goes with it, but I do wonder whether the company giving hundreds if not thousands out to influencers is the best way to go when they set the price so high for paying customers. But i definitely see why they do it!

I also ordered myself the Martha Brook stationary advent calendar, which I’m more excited about.

My JL winter skin box has arrived and I think I’ve got even less shredded tissue than @Pigeonwing! I am amazed that the glass bottle hasn’t smashed rattling around in here. Although the outside box it came in at least had bubble wrap padding it.

That aside, I am very happy with the contents so many thanks again to the poster who spotted it and the poster who helped me find it hidden on the rewards page. I’m going to use the box to half fill an empty calendar to have a Jadvent. Now I just need to find 14 other treats to fill it with…

I also had a free Laneige Matcha Bubble Tea Lip Glowy Balm included in the delivery which I can add to DD1’s stocking so very chuffed with that!

JL came back to me. They are refunding £6 for the damaged candle. I think that's fair enough as nothing else was damaged, just a bit of wax residue on the Wella box. Hopefully they will pack future ones a bit better.

Lovehoneyhave a range of calendars for the more adventurous, which some might describe as niche. Not a beauty advent calendar but, if it makes you smile, then it's like having a mini temporary face lift! Probably not one to keep downstairs with the kids' lego and chocolate calendars though.

Getting real fomo on the JL box too .. also I ran out of cleanser this morning (!) and so am thinking I might just order the boots advent calendar with all the cleansers in it but then it's quite fun to choose a new one occasionally so I'm not sure (plus it can be the £10 spend for the recycling scheme).
I was so thrifty last night and managed to snag some benefit eyebrow bits for nada using all my remaining LF recycling credit and then I used all my Boots points to get a MAC setting powder, a single shadow AND a nars tinted moisturiser as they had 20% off a £60 spend. (So annoying you can't collect points when you spend them or part pay with points.) BUT I've 'saved' £135 - ultimate girl maths but I can get the JL box now right?!?

I can’t stop thinking about the Diptique AC!! It’s so pretty. It makes more sense to just to the Diptique store in Covent Garden and buy bits I’ll definitely love instead rather than a random AC selection 🙈

Too many lip products for me and still costs more than what I'd pay for it after the discount tbh.

I might pass on this one though will keep an eye on TKMaxx for any more advents!

Caved and bought the JL winter skin box. I had a £10 off voucher making it £60. Disappointed with the lack of full.size moisturisers in this years AC. This has quite a few, plus the aromatherapy associates oil I'll get excited for.

I was thinking it was last years. Perhaps not then - the boxes all look the same. Will go check out 2023, disregard the photo I posted above as that's 2024.

Sephora calendar arrived yesterday - massive box and looks all as it should be from a quick sneak peak.

Has anyone bought the Fortnum & Mason one? I like the look of things in it as so many others are quite samey compared to other years. Also eyeing up Liberty as every year I want to get that one but haven’t yet!!

I cracked into my Harrods fragrance advent last night and smelled a few. I only tried the Thameen and the smaller ones and most I felt leaned more masculine. I haven’t tried any of the sealed fragrances. Seems my DH is going to do well out of it!

@Ilikeyoursleeves. My husband has bought me the F&M calendar for my birthday and Xmas present. I chose that one because it had more perfume than several others and didn’t have too much makeup or cleansers.
