Anyone want to talk Autumn shopping wish lists?

I know it’s not even August yet, and I’ve still not gone on my summer holiday yet - but there’s a chill in the air, I’ve packed a box of freshly picked blackberries in the freezer for autumnal crumbles and while looking for school uniform today, noticed quite a few burgundy items in shop windows.

So what’s on your autumnal shopping list?

Im after a pair of black knee high boots. (My old ones finally had to be retired last year, beyond what could be repaired.)

I’ve just bought a dark brown cashmere jumper on vinted. Am now going to start the hunt for the perfect dark green cashmere jumper or cardie.

I think I need new work trousers but not sure what shape we’re doing this year. (Wide leg ? That doesn’t work well with puddles.)

Anyone else with a list for when the new season starts arriving in the shops?

That’s ludicrous.

I do like Cos but does anyone else find their products completely overpriced? I am eyeing up a burgundy jumper by Cos but it’s an eye watering £250

I agree, for that price you want it to be either exceptional quality or a really interesting look, preferably both. But these days Cos is neither unfortunately.

Absolutely.

The Cos kilts are a collab with Le Kilt, so should be lovely quality and a bit different.

Had to pop into M&S for something for the kids and accidentally bought some plum/burgundy wide leg trousers. Can’t find them on the website to link but they are lovely.

Some wide leg dark brown cords arrived from Next today but the long length is a bit too long so they’re going back and I’ve reordered in the standard. Plus a black pair, which weren’t available in long.
And I ordered a sandy coloured cord jumpsuit from Reiss, it was something like 80% off, but has strange gathers at the shoulders which give me an unfortunate shape and it’s a bit long in the body, shame. (Also DS said “who you gonna call” and DH made a Challenge Anneka reference so that also made me think twice about keeping it 😂).

lol at the ghostbusters reference @NormaMajors1992coat

I so wish I could find fine knits I actually like!…

I have been Insta influenced (baaaa) in to some of the Uniqlo HeatTech very fine cashmere blend layering tops, which arrived today. Have tried a roll neck and a scoop neck. Have to say, they look very promising, lovely layering tops - yet to see if they deliver on the warmth!

Lovely to wear, yes - neck not too tight on the roll-necks.

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 28/10/2025 15:48

Thanks @WinWhenTheyreSinging- I might have to pop in next week and have a look.

Probably no surprise to you if you've seen them on influencers, but they are a VERY fine knit. They really will not add any bulk at all. I made sure I didn't buy too snug, so they would be decent if I wanted to take off whatever jacket/jumper I was wearing. (I bought a L and I normally buy a 10 or a 12 in tops - they are not baggy, but equally they're not stretched out and too sheer either.)

AlertCat · 28/10/2025 18:08

My Roake jacket in the blackberry fabric landed today and I love it. The colour is perfect for me, it’ll go with everything in the wardrobe!

I’ve also ordered a NWT pair of high rise wide leg jeans, a silk dress (though not sure where I’m going to wear that), and a lovely dark top by Hush, all from Vinted. Very excited for them all to arrive!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 28/10/2025 18:37

I have some of the non cashmere heattech tops from this year, very cosy and fine, perfect for avoiding bulk. I’m going to try the cashmere ones on my next visit.

TragicMuse · 02/11/2025 15:32

I tried on some tweedy trousers in Next. The bastards were cropped!

WHYYYYY? Who wants chilly ankles?

Really rather annoyed at that.

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 02/11/2025 15:50

@TragicMuse- rubbish. Do they do them in a tall range? You might find they are proper length then if they otherwise suit you. As someone who needs petite length, I’ve bought regular length trousers when they’ve been cropped to get the correct length on me. (Also done that with dresses that are supposed to be mini but I wanted closer to my knee)

TragicMuse · 02/11/2025 16:02

I’m long-waisted so slightly shorter in the leg than my height would suggest but I’ll have a look for tall, hadn’t thought of that. Thanks!
