Anyone want to talk Autumn shopping wish lists?

I know it’s not even August yet, and I’ve still not gone on my summer holiday yet - but there’s a chill in the air, I’ve packed a box of freshly picked blackberries in the freezer for autumnal crumbles and while looking for school uniform today, noticed quite a few burgundy items in shop windows.

So what’s on your autumnal shopping list?

Im after a pair of black knee high boots. (My old ones finally had to be retired last year, beyond what could be repaired.)

I’ve just bought a dark brown cashmere jumper on vinted. Am now going to start the hunt for the perfect dark green cashmere jumper or cardie.

I think I need new work trousers but not sure what shape we’re doing this year. (Wide leg ? That doesn’t work well with puddles.)

Anyone else with a list for when the new season starts arriving in the shops?

Thank you. I will have a look.

I’m trying to decide if I want / will wear some chocolate brown knee high boots. The problem is I keep being drawn to suede ones which aren’t actually that great in winter weather. Thinking with minis, jumper and tights. I haven’t really worn knee high boots since I pretty much gave up skinny jeans, though I have some tan ones stashed away in case I ever take a notion for them again.

I've got my eye on these, but also in the tan and black, could end up with all 3 yet.

My previous pair of tan boots finally gave up after many years, I've a pair of heeled black knee boots and a pair of higher OTK boots too (for dressing up now day to day), but I reckon I'd get a lot of wear from the flat ones in black as well

Not on my list (ooops), but I've just received a pair of new Carvela suede ankle boots from Vinted, which are just as described, immaculate - destined to go with the One Hundred Stars Rachel dress, and will be perfect.

I’ve got one on 11th and likewise! I did one in spring/summer and it was amazing!

WinWhenTheyreSinging · 24/09/2025 14:34

Look forward to reviews and feedback from your appointments, @TragicMuse and @2025istheyeari.

Do you have particular requirements, or just wardrobe refreshes?

TragicMuse · 24/09/2025 16:02

I’m sort of both!!

I’ve lost 4.5 stone so would like a wardrobe and a style refresh!

And something that isn’t just aimless wandering round the shop.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 24/09/2025 16:17

They look nice @Wendywooooo

i have a ridiculous number of pairs of ankle boots, mostly in black. I keep buying them in search of the perfect pair but they’re never quite right.

When it comes to black ankle boots I have Flat ones, low heeled ones, then very high stiletto/platformed heeled booties, lower but still high albeit more sensible ones. A pointy heeled shoe boot, an open toed heeled boot, a Pair of Calf Length wedge heeled ones, and my trusty short Uggs as well.

But never going to rule out buying more. Life is too short

And me! I’ve also lost a lot of weight so need a complete new winter wardrobe. I’m also job hunting, with hopefully news on a new job by then, so may need a work wardrobe! What I loved at the last one was having someone bring things I may never have looked at otherwise, understanding what suits my colouring and shape etc. well worth it!

I need to calm down the autumn purchases, but I am loving this Ninety Percent top in Bordeaux, which is a lovely brown-based burgundy. I have the top in black already and it’s so versatile and flattering.

That’s lovely. Very flattering and classy!

Britpopbaby · 27/09/2025 13:19

I would like a cashmere black jumper or cardigan. Ideally second hand.

TragicMuse · 27/09/2025 21:27

I had another look at the beautiful red trench in Next today. It’s just so gorgeous! i still didn’t buy it because I’m losing weight but I want it so very much!

After the initial newness of new season has settled does anyone else feel a bit meh about the offerings? No stand out pieces so far for me. I’d just be buying more of the same as what I already have.

I know what you mean, I was excited to find something lovely for autumn but haven’t really. I have bought a few bits but nothing I’m really excited about - a cord dress, some burgundy desert boots and a couple of functional jumpers in navy and dark green. I am awaiting a leather jacket from Vinted but even that feels like a staple and not particularly exciting. Now contemplating some pyjama bottoms WAHEY! 🤦‍♀️

Maybe I’ve just got everything I need already and should be glad to save the money.

NormaMajors1992coat · 30/09/2025 11:41

I do quite fancy a proper coat rather than the parka and puffers I usually wear, but I have broad shoulders compared to the rest of me so not many fit well - I would need to get my arse to an actual shop and I just can’t be bothered!

Everything feels like a 'stand out piece' for me this year, I've gone mad 🤣

TragicMuse · 30/09/2025 12:53

I have loads I’d love to buy but haven’t so far!

PeonyPatch · 30/09/2025 14:00

Well, I am loving the burgundy and brown offerings. However, I’ve a dilemma… I’ve bought a fair few brown things and a couple of burgundy. I now need a new coat and don’t know whether to buy brown or burgundy!!!

NormaMajors1992coat · 30/09/2025 14:10

I love brown but I haven’t found anything that really hits the spot yet 😔

Pigtailsandall · 30/09/2025 14:32

I have spent way too much time reading this thread. I'd really like a pair of brown ankle boots this autumn. All my boots are quite chunky, and I'd like a "lighter" pair to wear in the early autumn (now, essentially) with dresses etc. I've seen a pair at Celtic and Co, but I've never bought their shoes - I have a dress and their sheepskin slippers (which I couldn't live without), but no shoes. Anyone know how they fit/what the quality is like? I like these as I think they're almost between a shoe and a boot

I'm also on the lookout to replace some corduroy trousers - either black or chocolate brown. I wore through my COS ones. I loved them but they are no longer in stock

I popped into town at the weekend and I was staggered at the difference in the month since I last went in. It was a sea of brown. A month before lots of brown and burgundy nestled in among other things, but there was so much brown, it put me off things I’d had my eye on. Like you said, nothing was standing out. And brown and burgundy are really good colours for me.

it reminded me of when midi dresses and trainers were becoming a thing. I was very excited to have a look and shape that suited me when I used to really struggle with summer clothes, but within 5 minutes, everyone everywhere was in floral dresses and white trainers - so much so it put me off.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 30/09/2025 14:57

I’d go burgundy if you think it’s something you want to get a few years out of, it’s more flexible. Can wear with navy and black and denim. I have a sort of burgundy coat that I’ve had for a few years, can wear it smart or casual with jeans and trainers and goes with most things in my winter wardrobe.
