Hi,

Here’s a new thread!

Not put off at all @ScottishMouse . I won’t wear it until I see if a smaller size pops up in the next day or two as it is lovely and comfortable and I’m fairly sure the smaller would be too tight on the bust. Weathers gone a bit unreliable again here anyway.

OftenOrange · 01/07/2025 09:02

Final tally of keepers from the sale:

Blue Birkenstocks
White Catrin shirt
Green blue stripe block print dress
Navy organic cotton utility jacket
Indigo side tie gilet
Navy pleated organic cotton skirt

I don’t feel too ashamed of myself because I realise that apart from a few expensive full price items these sale splurges really represent most of my yearly spend on clothes.

However I’m not good at culling as although I seldom if ever where most of my stuff , I still love it all.
I like dressing in a comfy minimalist way but my wardrobe doesn’t really match !
This recent tranche does fit that requirement , though the sundress is quite’pretty’
Wardrobe stuffed and no room for more !

IlovePond · 01/07/2025 10:22

I wish I had bought that navy cotton pleated skirt @OftenOrange how thick is it? I am also wishing I had kept the orange poplin nightie in my basket.

I am wondering if my order will arrive today after yesterday’s failure by RM.

Quite excited this morning, as my phone is working again after six days of being held incommunicado! I may celebrate by ringing KC to see if there is any sample sale news 😹

Countmeout · 01/07/2025 10:24

@IlovePond I received the nightdress this morning and I am going to return it. It hangs in a very unflattering way and the colour is more muddy tan than coral in my opinion.

IlovePond · 01/07/2025 10:30

Ah, thanks for the feedback @Countmeout

I have the orange blossom pjs and lounge dress - hopefully- arriving today. 🤞they are as nice as they look online. However, I had to size up in the pjs as out of stock in M. I don’t know which will be worse - if they fit 😹😹or if they look lovely but ridiculously baggy.

Poplinskirt · 01/07/2025 15:41

I examined the trousers inside and out and there is literally nothing to see except they are so prickly on.
Sadly returned
Weirdly when I was reading the reviews there was one which said the fabric was rough and itchy but now it's gone 🤔

I have the poplin nightie @Countmeout and would describe it as burnt orange , I had an inkling I had seen that colour before and indeed I have a poplin shell from a few years back, identical colour.
I wonder if Toast are digging out previous fabrics
It's pretty fitted on the top but very swishy on the bottom half.
Currently eying the navy pjs !

OftenOrange · 01/07/2025 15:48

@IlovePond The navy skirt is a weighty cotton , the skirt has a lot of fullness , and the cotton having body being gives a great shape .
Ordering was a case of curiosity because it was popular here ,( I had feared school uniforms vibes )

Stoic123 · 01/07/2025 17:20

Pouring bowl arrived today and agree with @Countmeout that it's bigger and more beautiful than expected. Only sale keeper so far.

ScottishMouse · 01/07/2025 17:45

Folk who have the indigo side-tie gilet…. I have had mine a while, bought full price, worn plenty but not washed it yet. I just received one I ordered for my sister (who isn’t in the UK) from the sale. It’s the same size as mine, but it is definitely smaller. I tried it on and it feels quite neat on the bust and pulls a little across the back when closed. I’m trying to figure out if mine was like this originally and has stretched a bit, or if this one is just smaller. If so it might not fit her, so I don’t know whether to return it or not (I won’t see her until next month so it will be too late to return then). Does anyone recall if theirs has given a little with wear?

Gonegrey31 · 01/07/2025 17:55

ScottishMouse I don’t think my gilet has changed in size since I’ve had it . I bought it in the XS as I wanted a fairly neat fit . It still feels like that . I’ve worn mine a lot over plain white T shirts ( that’s the look I wanted ). I really like it as a garment but don’t want to encourage you to keep it if you are hoping for a bit of give . However it looks good worn open !

IlovePond · 01/07/2025 18:33

Thanks for the skirt info @OftenOrange

I just got my order and it’s all going back:

Grey linen shorts in L as M sold out. These were too big, baggy and square and looked absolutely horrible on me, even though I have the matching jacket, (which I love!) I suspect that the M would have been too tight on the waist, but still huge and shapeless elsewhere.

Orange blossom lounge dress/nightie in M - probably too big and I hate the ruching along the neck/shoulders as it’s deeply unflattering on me - raglan? Lovely colour, though.

Orange blossom pjs in L as M sold out. Sadly the pj bottoms were probably the right size for my ever-expanding waistline, (though, tbf, I could probably have squeezed myself into a M), but the top was huge on me and looked ridiculous. Plus, I really don’t like that gathering along the neck/shoulders/arms. If the bottoms were sold separately I probably would have kept that part of the outfit.

Madder linen dress in M. Lovely length on me but the colour was ‘meh’ on my skin tone and sadly too tight across my chest.

I hate returning everything in an order, but it’s Toast’s own fault for being too weird to have in-store sales.

IlovePond · 01/07/2025 18:35

Unless I buy something else from returned stock, it looks like my only sale purchases will be the Shoal kaftan and the lapis/oat long-sleeved tee.

I would maybe try that navy pleated skirt if it reappears, or the navy crinkle.

ScottishMouse · 01/07/2025 19:15

Thanks @Gonegrey31, I did think that mine couldn’t have stretched that much, so I think this one is just smaller. I do wear mine open sometimes, so I guess she could do that. I’ll probably hold onto it for her as I think it’s a good deal at sale price.
Interested to read that you wear yours over a white tee. I had some indigo rub at the beginning and so have been afraid to wear it over light colours, which is a bit annoying. Did you wash yours to get any excess indigo dye out?

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 01/07/2025 19:39

@IlovePond is that the burnt ginger nightie? I sent it back for exactly the same reason - I couldn’t bear the way everything was gathered into the neckband rather than having shoulder seams.

ToastCosILoveIt · 01/07/2025 19:44

@IlovePond I have the pleated cotton skirt in both colours, paid full price but I wore both of them a lot between January (when I bought them) and now. I love the cut and the shape, makes a plain skirt and tee-shirt look very modern or, as Toast Live would say, it "elevates" an outfit :)

Nanasueathome · 01/07/2025 20:03

I’ve had a problem accessing Mumsnet the last few days
Hopefully it’s sorted now
Im so glad I contacted CS a couple of weeks ago re the tie front panelled dress..they found one at the Chelsea store. I paid full price but it’s so worth it. I’ve noticed that it’s no longer on the website so assuming all sold out
I bought the Iku check cotton culottes in the sale, gorgeous. I’m now having to fight with my daughter about them as she’s trying to claim them.

Gonegrey31 · 01/07/2025 20:29

ScottishMouse I have not had colour rub with my gilet thankfully. I’ve experienced that with other Toast denim garments but not this one. I haven’t washed it (yet!) it gets the freezer treatment.

ToastCosILoveIt · 01/07/2025 21:00

MiracleToast · 28/06/2025 22:30

@ScottishMouse if you want new towels or garden furniture then you do you! We inherited my granny’s teak steamers and they are definitely memorable. It’s your birthday so I would go with whatever you’d like, not what you maybe think you ‘should’ get. I really love Hannah batstone elegant jewellery if you do go that route. I hope you have a wonderful celebration and enjoy whatever you choose xx

@MiracleToast , that is really funny, I am siting in Cornwall, three doors down from Hannah Batstone’s jewellery and work shop. I have never been in there as it has very limited opening hours but your post has made me determined to go in and have a browse when it is open.

faustina · 24/06/2025 10:36

@ToastCosILoveIt I'm 5'4 but maybe you have long legs? I haven't tried those barrel legs but have tried others and they're all way too long for me, so the lovely bit at the bottom of the leg which makes them barrel gets lost and they just look stupid on me

The barrel leg jeans arrived @faustina and they are a keeper. I wasn’t sure at first (tried them on in the toilet at work, not a good idea) but they are flattering, a good cut and sit about on my ankle so look slightly cropped, but not as cropped as the photo on the web. I suspect they would look like the website photo if you were nearer 5ft 6 or 7. There are two small pleats on the front which is hard to see in the photo, although the description references it, but the pleats is flattering, and pleats aren’t always. I will wear them with my MÁ+LIN Frances linen blouse which I have in the jade colour from last year and the berry colour from this year. They are lovely blouses if anyone is looking for a cropped (but not too cropped) flattering linen blouse.

MiracleToast · 01/07/2025 21:10

@ToastCosILoveIt I have no idea how I discovered her but I’ve now got two very special pairs of hoops by her. I would love to go to her workshop—she seems like a lovely woman!

ToastCosILoveIt · 01/07/2025 21:13

I am intrigued now @MiracleToast , I work on weekdays when she is open but I have some time off in August so will pop in then and report back on the shop. She often has a vase of sunflowers in the window and the shop/workshop looks lovely. I wonder if she is a graduate from Falmouth University.

MiracleToast · 01/07/2025 21:20

That’s so cool you are only a few doors down. Life is funny. Yes, please let me know how you get on and if you find anything lovely too.

faustina · 01/07/2025 21:44

@ToastCosILoveIt - I'm so glad they work for you! Barrel legs that need to be shortened or turned up just don't really work because the whole point is the shape at the bottom so I'm very envious of you! Cos have their pre-sale access right now and I've ordered another two pairs of their shorts - if we're going to have summers like this more often, It feels like a wise move. One pair is made from acetate - not so sure about that, but worth a shot as they're a really lovely dark gold colour

ScottishMouse · 01/07/2025 21:49

Oh that’s interesting @Gonegrey31, there was definitely indigo rub from mine.

Countmeout · 02/07/2025 14:01

I have ordered the size 10 @ScottishMouse . will report back on fit.

All I have kept otherwise
pouring bowl
a serving board
Blue poplin dress

could be worse
