Hi,

Here’s a new thread!

Toast are opening up another space at KC - but it looks like it will be more for events/displays/workshops, etc. than a shop.

They have finally repaired the downstairs area after the flood so I will be interested to see if they keep the ‘real’ shop upstairs in the larger space or if they will move back downstairs and leave upstairs as the arty space.

@faustina - I am strongly considering buying the Harris Tweed jacket and will happily report back if I do. It looks beautiful. I’m aware that it costs more buying through Plumo (high mark ups) as discussed earlier but I don’t think this jacket is available elsewhere, so I have little choice if I want it.

I also like the Doherty coat - do you love it and get plenty of wear out of it ? I’m a standard size 12 and 5 ft 7 and was thinking Size 2 may be the best fit but I’m concerned it may be too voluminous. Did you size down? If anyone else has this coat any feedback would be most welcome.

Tried on a couple of dresses in my local Toast shop - the denim dungaree style dress - didn’t suit me. I’m carrying a bit extra weight and the fabric was too stiff and clung to the wrong places. It’s a best seller in the shop, so plenty of customers do like it. I also tried on the grey cord pinafore dress but found it too complicated with front and back ties - again it didn’t do much for me. Waiting to see what appears in the next drop ( end of September I’ve been told).

mizu · 06/09/2025 09:14

@PeonyBlush10 I was looking at that coat last year and am also a 12 and 5 ft 7. It’s gorgeous, isn’t it?

@IlovePond I saw that too about KC, they mentioned homeware so I was hoping for a whole floor of discounted bedding, throws and lovely kitchen pots 😁

IlovePond · 06/09/2025 09:18

That would be nice @mizu

I was picturing a huge empty space with some kind of ultra pretentious installation in the middle and a couple of arty items posed at rakish angles.

I much prefer your vision!

@PeonyBlush10 - I have worn it a lot - it's very useful because it's thin enough to wear now over a t-shirt when it's raining, but I also wore it in the winter/spring over a big jumper and it was warm enough for most days. They have the garment measurements on the site so you can check those, but the shaping means it's quite a bit narrower at the top, so I wouldn't size down if I were you. The photos on the site of the fit are very accurate.

PeonyBlush10 · 06/09/2025 10:04

@faustina thanks for the feedback especially regarding sizing and the coat being narrower at the top, very helpful. I will have a think … I’m trying to curb impulsivity when it comes to shopping but like @mizu I spotted and liked it during a previous season and have hankered after it ever since.

Bimblesalong · 06/09/2025 14:18

I am joining with the corduroy love. Next week, I'm in London for work and have not at all prioritised getting to a Toast shop during my visit ... I've checked that the stores near the venue have stock - it's a tricky visit as it's during the tube strike, so I'll need to be on foot (I've looked at bus times and they're similar to walking and will be busy).
One of the options is Toast Bloomsbury, which is listed as a menswear shop - it does have the skirt I'm interested in. Can anyone who has been there comment on whether it has a reasonably decent selection of women's wear, or is it mainly fellas' stuff?

Saurus72 · 06/09/2025 17:19

@Bimblesalong It’s a nice store but not a huge range in total tbh. Lamb’s Conduit St where it’s located is a lovely little area though! wonder if the Mayfair or Islington stores are an option for you because they tend to have a better selection?

Bimblesalong · 06/09/2025 17:49

Thankyou @Saurus72 Ill check the walking time to the different stores for after my conference (& before nipping away from Euston).

Come on, Toast, get yourself a branch nearer to me!

Saurus72 · 07/09/2025 10:15

@Bimblesalong Also, The Elizabeth line isn’t striking - the Mayfair store is a minute from the Lizzie Line bond st exit.

Bimblesalong · 07/09/2025 13:27

Ah, excellent, thank you! @Saurus72

Countmeout · 07/09/2025 15:11

Is anyone who got an invitation for 26th September email styling session able to go and report back to us all?

weareallcats · 07/09/2025 16:46

Just popping on after a long break to see what people are ordering from A/W. I have only ordered the charcoal apron dress so far (hasn’t arrived yet), oh, and the boiled wool checked scarf in the reds (gorgeous). I like the look of the Donegal cardi with the little necktie but haven’t gone for it yet. I have ordered the Rosewood coat and a burgundy pinafore/apron dress from Plumo - there was a lot I liked, I had to be very selective.

Re Toast - those flowery dresses are annoying me - I want the background colour of one and the print colour of the colour - so I haven’t ordered. Has anyone got one?

Oh and I got the burnt orange (think they call it sienna) crinkle cotton dress and have already worn it loads. That was a very good buy.

Poplinskirt · 07/09/2025 16:52

@weareallcats
I've got the Navy
I've worn it lots already

ScottishMouse · 07/09/2025 16:55

@weareallcats i love the colour of that crinkle cotton dress. But I have never been a huge fan of the crinkle cotton fabric - a bit heavy for summer and I’m not a huge wearer of dresses in winter. How are you styling it?

CakeAndJazz · 07/09/2025 20:00

@Countmeout I’ve signed up, but really hoping I make it there on time. Happy to report back if I do manage it.

sonjadog · 07/09/2025 21:30

@weareallcats Can I ask you about the burnt orange dress? Is the colour the same as on the website, or is it a different tone in real life? I have been looking at it for weeks, but one of the reviewers says it is duller in reality, so I can't decide whether to order or not.

I am also looking at the charcoal apron dress, so would be very interested to hear what you think of it when it arrives, please.

I agree it is a bit heavy for summer - I’ve been a bit too hot a couple of times. Ive mostly been wearing it with suede espadrilles or the Vibae fisherman sandals - sometimes belted and sometimes not. And I’ve got a little turquoise and rose gold necklace that I like wearing with it. It’s still not really cold enough for a jacket, so haven’t thought too much about that yet, but will definitely be wearing it with lace up boots when the weather cools down.

Hello! The dress is really lovely - I am really pleased with it. I just had a quick look at the pictures online and I think it’s fairly accurate - it is definitely a rusty, burnt orange, rather than a bright pumpkin shade, but still definitely orange. It was a no brainer for me, as orange is one of my best colours. It probably is a bit thick for summer (although I still stubbornly wore it a lot in August) but will be perfect for September/October.

I am definitely leaning towards the navy - what I really want is the green with the pattern from the navy. Blue is a tricky colour for me.

Ooh - my wishlist has just reappeared!

I was thinking about signing up for ‘Styling with Suzie’ but I seem to have permanently deleted my Kindred invite.

Oh well… it obviously wasn’t meant to be!

CatAsstrophe · 08/09/2025 16:49

@IlovePond depending on your email provider, you can recall emails from permanently deleted. If you know what date you had the email, that's even better as you can narrow down the date range of the recalled deletions.

I had to do it recently and found out how to via Google.

For reference, my email from Toast about the event arrived on 07/09/25 at 06:00.

IlovePond · 08/09/2025 18:34

Thanks @CatAsstrophe - I’ll give it a go.

I just bought the charcoal Eden cardi in store. I had some vouchers, I wanted a new neutral knitwear piece that will go with everything, I had tried just about every knitwear piece Toast have that appeals, and I have tried this one so many times but never bought it as the cashmere wool knits scare me - will they pill terribly, will the moths get them. It is perfect for me in every other way, I just wish it was a merino or lambswool. Can folks who have this (especially in the charcoal as somehow I think that colour pills more) tell me how badly it pills? Will I regret this decision as someone who favours slightly hardier knits that don’t need to be babied?

I have a 30/70 cashmere/wool knit from a few years ago (not the Eden - I think maybe it is called the neat sweater) that has done very well - hardly any pilling despite being worn a lot. It has washed very well too. It’s mustard though, so can’t comment on the charcoal.
