Hi, if thinking about ordering: I was told last week that a Kindred gift was coming ‘in September’, so I am holding off for now!

If anyone gets a Kindred gift added to their order at some point, please can you let us know.

Thanks

Will do @IlovePond . I’ve ordered the cord barrel legged trousers . I ordered blue. I wish these had come in a dark brown.

I’m not sure the garment measurements are even reliable @BettinaInDenmark . I tried on the Lia top while I was in London . On the website the Honey colour gives larger measurements than the blue. It wasn’t bigger! I ended up sizing up.

i have the cotton roll neck from last year @ScottishMouse. It feels lovely.and it’s very useful.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 28/08/2025 11:17

@Countmeout What was the sizing like on the cotton roll neck? I’m hoping the neck is fairly loose as I don’t like anything too tight.

Countmeout · 28/08/2025 11:24

@Theteapotsbrokenspout . The neck is nice and loose. I’m thinking of the navy stripe this year although it’s £5 dearer 🙄 I sized up in it as I wanted a loose casual effect. I wear it round the house with jersey bottoms.

CakeAndJazz · 28/08/2025 12:00

@MiracleToast I do love the browns too, it’s a good neutral for me.

@ScottishMouse I tried the soft cotton tops on before and they really are soft. My usual size was a good fit, except the arms were tight. I didn’t try the size up as I think it would have been too big. Having said that, they might have changed the sizing for this season.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 28/08/2025 13:26

Thanks @Countmeout that’s good news about the neck.

ScottishMouse · 28/08/2025 16:11

Thanks @Countmeout and @CakeAndJazz for info on the rollneck tops. I have ordered the charcoal and the striped ones in my normal size. I’m hoping they might look good under the navy cotton linen waistcoat. Also ordered the graphite Donegal yoke sweater, the Minako trousers and matching shirt. I also liked the look of the jersey barely leg trousers but they would be too long and would likely look rubbish turned up.

OrangeyLemon · 28/08/2025 16:59

I got very excited at the prospect of brown and corduroy. I’ve been furiously adding things to my wish list and now I’ve seen the £595 Frankie coat. I’m in love! But the price! Do those coats ever go in the sale?

Countmeout · 28/08/2025 17:09

No kindred gift in the dispatch note @IlovePond . No problem for me as I can think of a few other things I want!

IlovePond · 28/08/2025 17:34

Hi @Countmeout - thanks for the info - I think the person in the shop said ‘sometime in September’ - I am hoping for next week!

@ScottishMouse keen to hear about sizing on the Minako trousers and matching shirt! I really like the look of those two.

ScottishMouse · 28/08/2025 18:09

Will let you know @Snowyowl78. I have last year’s Minako trousers in a small which is my usual Toast size for trousers. These are very similar in fabric but I wear last year’s a lot so might be able to justify a second pair. I am more interested in the shirt but also thought the set could look good (or could look like pyjamas!).

Snowyowl78 · 28/08/2025 18:19

@ScottishMouse ive just noticed that the description says ‘elbow length’ sleeves! I think this is an error.

i think it’s the same shape as an indigo one I bought year before last, looks exactly the same. Won’t let me post a pic for some reason!

ScottishMouse · 28/08/2025 18:39

I know the one @Snowyowl78. I have a much earlier version in cotton twill that I really like. But the sizing on the indigo one was a bit different and disn’t work for me, so I am hoping it is more like my twill one. But yes, saw the elbow length sleeves, the model must have very short arms 😆

Popplebop · 28/08/2025 18:47

Some really lovely pieces here in the new drop but wow… I am nearly out of the Toast price range. Stunning Corrine trousers but £325 is really squeezing me - the only thing that cheers me up is that the Vibrant check raglan coat is very similar to the one I have from 4-5 years ago (mine is more yellow).

Poplinskirt · 28/08/2025 20:07

It's interesting @Popplebop

Prices have been rising steadily over the past few seasons , however I'm seeing the past few seasons stock selling on resale sites for about a third of the new price.
Unless it's Toast gingham trousers which seem to go on at full price !
I think in general resale prices are much lower now
Due to saturation point being reached?
Less Toast sales?

Perhaps now things are getting more expensive we will buy less and be more choosy but keep things longer.

My Black Pepper dress and Bandana arrive tomorrow, holding off ordering anything else until I decide about the dress .

Monday is 1st Sept so lets hope Kindred gift starts then

Snowyowl78 · 29/08/2025 07:21

@ScottishMouse Im going to check the measurements against my indigo one. I ended up with a L in that one, the M was too small.

re. resale sites, I have told a lot this week and had to go quite low even for brand new dresses that I bought in a sale frenzy but never put on. I have a lot of stuff that I spend a lot of money on in previous sales that I have now realised I like but will never actually put on! Hopefully I have learned my lesson.

@Snowyowl78
I've bought a couple of Toast workwear dresses for the winter brand new for £30/40 recently.
It was a heatwave at the time so that might have had something to do with it though.

It's slightly annoying I can see my past orders as was trying to check last years prices.
I'm trying to see what the cord skirt was as I don't remember paying £165
Last years Donegal was around £200 so why is this years £225 ?

Plus I've just noticed the yoke is not knitted in the round but sewn together and the diamonds are not lining up properly.
Very poor show for £225 and I now won't be ordering it.

Gonegrey31 · 29/08/2025 11:47

Anyone else had an invitation to their local Toast store to see the new range plus the offer of a free gift if spending over £150 ?
Tempted !
I went to Kilver Court last week as I was in the area for once . Not a huge amount in the sample / reduced area but I bought a beautiful sky blue denim jacket for a good price . Not something I’ve seen in the range so must be a sample . Bought my daughter tiny sized shirts in the reduced area .

Poplinskirt · 29/08/2025 15:34

The Black Pepper dress is already on its way back .
Arrived horribly creased.
The style is VERY oversized , I tried a small and it was too big as a size12.
The main issue is the pockets.
They are internal and huge
Now I love a pocket but these are too big and hit half way down my thigh, creating a bulge and strange bottom heavy effect.

I really struggled to see why this garment is being sold at £200, creased, loose threads and an ill thought out design.

The Navy Bandana is just delightful, this is going to be so useful and so soft.

ScottishMouse · 30/08/2025 06:23

Weirdly, I received my order a day earlier than expected. Things must have been quiet at our local sorting office. anyhow, not complaining, but all going back ☹️
i take back what I said about sizing seeming more consistent! The rollneck tops in my usual M were quite tight, especially on the arms. I won’t try L though as I think that would be too big.
The Donegal yoke sweater was too big in s/m. different shape to last year - not as boxy, and longer. I liked that, but I looked enormous in it. I might try the smallest size but I don’t know if I loved it enough to. Plus I don’t get cold enough in winter for such a heavy knit most of the time.
The cotton cashmere shirt and trousers are going back because the fabric is thinner and less substantial than in previous years. I felt like it would look pretty scruffy pretty quickly. The shirt was not quite the same as the indigo and twill ones @Snowyowl78. Similar in that is has pockets on the front, but it doesn’t have the nice rounded sleeve, and it is longer with a deeper curve in the hem, and slightly longer at the back than the front.
All in all, pretty disappointing.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 30/08/2025 10:38

Received my first parcel today - the denim blue barrel leg cord trousers and matching shirt. Very disappointed, the cord was thin but seemed scratchy, the trousers are not very comfortable and the shirt is a very odd shape on me - too short and too wide.

Together the pieces look like I’m wearing a prison uniform. Both being returned.

IlovePond · 30/08/2025 12:07

It’s a shame that some people’s recent orders have been poor quality - the thing about Toast was always that the materials were lovely. Now it’s so hit and miss. Combined with the increase in prices, it’s disappointing.

When, for example, I compare my lovely garment dyed t shirts from a few years ago, with what’s on offer now - there’s no comparison in terms of both quality and value!

Yes, disappointing especially as prices are higher this year too.

Exchange events happening again - anyone been? One next week for me and I really want to go and it be a worthwhile experience ie I can actually swap decent pieces for decent pieces but alas the last couple have not been great.

neveradullmoment99 · 30/08/2025 13:47

Mine too. Just felt for the price the pleated waist cotton dress was really not worth it. Odd shape on me and yet the reviews are raving about it. I really don't get it. It also arrived creased. Im also STILL awaiting my refund a week later!
