Some photos of my new things….also for an opinion…
I have mentioned before how much my shape has changed in perimenopause. I have put on a lot of weight in my middle (and boobs) and I hate it. But I think I may overcompensate by buying things too big in order to hide. Did I buy the heathery sweater too big? I sized up and am afraid it looks too big now. To compare, I have also tried the skirt on with an old favourite Harley sweater, which I have not worn in a couple of years as it feels too fitted for comfort (psychological comfort not physical comfort). I hate anything clinging anywhere, but which looks better? Should I swap sizes in the new heathery sweater for one size down? Thanks ladies.

@ScottishMouse Just wondering how the fit of the binding check skirt is. I am a 14 and wondering whether to go for the medium or large. Is there good stretch in the waist elastic? Thanks

ScottishMouse · 21/08/2025 20:36

@neveradullmoment99 I found the waist elastic to be less restrictive than the blue pleat skirt from the summer if you have tried that. I went up to medium in the blue skirt but my normal small was fine in the check skirt. Full disclosure though, I ended up returning it. I thought it would be a total winner for me, but I found the full skirt which gathers from the waistband (as opposed to the pleated one which is flatter across the stomach) highlights my least liked part of my body. I knew once I had put it on to wear two mornings in a row and ended up changing out of it that it wasn’t meant to be. Hopefully it will suit you much better though.

ScottishMouse · 21/08/2025 20:42

@Countmeout i did keep the linen shirt dress but i have put it on a number of times but never kept it on and worn it, which makes me think it should be returned (though I may be outside the return window at this point). I kept my usual size medium, though I wonder if it is a little too big and shapeless. I tried the small, which fitted, but felt less comfortable, like it was tugging a little in places (though didn’t actually look like it was). I saw someone in store wearing it over jeans and a tee and it looked really good, but I felt it was too long on me (5’2”) to look good like that. So it’s not hugely versatile for me, apart from being a nice neutral dress that could work quite casually but also more dressed up. So why have I not worn it…🤔

ScottishMouse · 21/08/2025 20:43

Did anyone find anything in the new Reworn items today? I missed the email until much later in the day and there was nothing for me.

I noticed that there is a September live coming on the 3rd, so maybe a new drop end of next week.

@neveradullmoment99 should have said that I am a 12, so the medium would probably be ok for you.

Thank you so much for your reply. I really love the look of it but it probably isn't the best for me either with the full gathers and it is really very expensive. I will mull it over some more. It looks lovely on the website but it is very pricey for what it is. I did order a dress that came today. The pleated waist cotton dress but despite the glowing reviews its not for me. Beautiful colour but its not for those with a fullish bust. I asked my daughter what she thought and she said it made my boobs look pointy! It also stuck out awkwardly at the sides with strange side vents and I did not find it particularly generous in my normal size so clearly in the minority. I've really not been tempted by much recently but was really dissapointed.

Thank you!! I will give it some more thought. I was thinking a medium would be less volumous.

Countmeout · 21/08/2025 22:11

@neveradullmoment99 I felt that skirt while in store and was disappointed by the feel of it. I sort of expected it to be like my check cotton cashmere dress but it wasn’t as soft. Looks lovely though.
@ScottishMouse yes it’s very long. I might consider it in navy if came in that colour.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 22/08/2025 08:26

I’ve been disappointed with this last drop so I’m hoping the next one has more for me, although the prices seem to have risen a lot.

I’m also still sulking from the loss of my wish list, I kept hoping it would reappear but it seems not.

Stravaig · 22/08/2025 11:07

Yes the erased Wishlist is a bit of a disaster. Long Covid continues to affect my functioning. I just don't have the energy or cognitive capacity to browse a site again, re-weighing all the small considerations that go into a maybe/yes choice. I skim new drops, or items mentioned online, add them to wishlist or basket, then decide whether or not to buy from there. At sale time, I see what's on sale in my wishlist/basket only. The same applies to all online shops: randomly deleting saved lists and baskets loses my purchase altogether. It is the opposite of promoting accessibility for those with cognitive or energy impairments. As well as being irritating and disrespectful, even for healthy people with busy lives and multiple ways to spend their money.

ScottishMouse · 22/08/2025 12:38

I’m also very sad about the missing wish lists. I cannot remember what was on mine apart from a couple of things. I also liked being able to keep past season things there to remind me what I’m looking out for on resale sites.

ShrankLastWinter · 22/08/2025 16:20

Yes, such a pain. And any shop that empties my shopping basket overnight or while I’m still pondering goes straight onto my nah list. Who has patience with that? I’m not going to hurry my order just in case my items get thrown out; I’m going to take my custom elsewhere.

IlovePond · 22/08/2025 21:12

I went to the Llandeilo store today, (just so I could run straight to it tomorrow without having to look for it🙀).

The staff were very nice and helpful.

Llandeilo looks like a throbbing urban metropolis, compared to the place me and DH are staying. We spent a good hour today just going: Oh look, a pub! Ooh! There’s a shop 😹

mizu · 23/08/2025 06:10

@IlovePond here’s hoping I make it! I’m wondering how busy it’ll be.

IlovePond · 23/08/2025 07:13

Hi @mizu - given it’s been advertised on the website I suspect it will be very busy but it’s such a small space, so who knows?

🤞you make it.

I will report back…

IlovePond · 23/08/2025 07:15

On a related note: I had not one, but two anxiety dreams last night that DH kept delaying our departure and I only got to the sale when it was almost over with nothing left 🙀😹

Countmeout · 23/08/2025 08:22

Oh @IlovePond 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Bimblesalong · 23/08/2025 09:22

Have fun today, Llandeilo ladies!

IlovePond · 23/08/2025 09:25

He’s just tried to go for petrol…😹

Enjoying the sample sale excitement @IlovePond @mizu 😆 Happy hunting!

Re our ongoing Plümo discussions, I think they might be noticing feedback, possibly from here. Their most recent sale emails used more expansive wording and no longer sound like a closing down klaxon. Also, in their new drop, while they're still not naming brands clearly in text, I saw a few close-ups of brand labels among item photos, which is interesting. That said, the price mark-up can be (un)real, even allowing for shipping and import fees. I recognise a jumper that is priced +£250 on a direct currency conversion of the price at Nygårdsanna. 😵🤔

ScottishMouse · 23/08/2025 10:38

Holy moly @stravaig, that’s an insane price hike. It seems like such shady practice to be trying to pull the wool over people’s eyes in that way. If they were upfront about brands they are selling then people could find out quite easily that they are putting a huge markup on things, but by not disclosing the brands, you would only know if you have way too much time to be sleuthing online. It’s just not cool.

faustina · 23/08/2025 10:47

I was actually just looking at Plumo's new stuff and noticed they have some quite nice things which aren't ridiculously £££. There's a denim jacket I really like the look of: https://www.plumo.com/products/Yarker-Denim-Jacket

Good luck to all at the sample sale. @IlovePond I think your dh might be trying to mess with your head about the petrol 😂

Yarker Denim Jacket - Plümo Ltd

<p>Denim workwear jacket in an inky indigo wash. Generous, classic cut with wide sleeves and oversized patch pockets on the front. Pared back detailing includes classic orange overstitching, point collars and button-through fastening at the front. Made...

IlovePond · 23/08/2025 11:11

@faustina 😹 He enjoys winding me up!

I’ve been!

There are four rails of items with a few shoes/pumps/sandals underneath and a shelf unit with a few bits of homeware, scarves and one random item of swimwear 😹

There were a few Xmas decs, but I restrained myself.

Sizes range from XS to M and some items were labelled 10, 12, etc.

There are some lovely jumpers and dresses in the ‘outlet’ side of the shop.

Everything they have by way of samples is out, according to staff - no restocking tomorrow unless they get a delivery today, (which seems unlikely).

Staff are lovely and super helpful.

Word on the street is that there will be a good Kindred gift in September!

OP posts:
IlovePond · 23/08/2025 11:15

I bought:

Woolly tote bag, (as I’m in Wales!)
The orange linen jumper with elbow length sleeve that was around a couple of years ago, (already have the cream version)
Napkins - to use as neckerchiefs or hair ties
Nightie
Black sleeveless T shirt

Total spend: £140

There were other things I could have bought, but I restrained myself.

Stravaig · 23/08/2025 11:15

@ScottishMouse I kept redoing the currency conversion in disbelief! Taxes, import duties, postage can all add up if we were to buy directly from eg. Nygårdsanna, but surely not that much.

However as @faustina says, it's variable, and some things are very reasonable. Plus their own Plümo Studio designs are expanding each year, which is nice.

I'd love to understand the behind-the-scenes reasoning though. It must be fascinating, the different pricing strategies that can be deployed to balance the books overall. Or, less acceptably, make a handsome profit at our expense.
