Hi,

Here’s a new thread!

I tried it on a pair of Kin white trousers I bought from Vinted which had clearly been washed with something not white, and it didn't remove it completely, but I think they're wearable now. I mostly use to keep white sheets white though. Usually at 40 too

ScottishMouse · 07/08/2025 15:21

I’ve just received a disappointing delivery and all four items are going back.
The wool cashmere bandana in yellow moss is much more green to my eye than the yellow I was hoping for.
The brass collared cardigan is tiny and all the buttons pull in my usual size, but the colour is also far more green and less brown than I hoped for. The collar also looks bigger on me than on the model and I don’t see how you could get it to stay up like it is on the model.
The graphite Donegal tank, which I tried on in store and really liked, is too short. I don’t know if it is just this one or if I didn’t pay enough attention when I tried it on in store. But this one is finished really badly on one armhole - it looks like a small animal has had a nibble of it!
The Bleu de Chauffe bag I put in the order on the off chance that I might actually get the one pictured. But no, it is the smaller one that arrived and it is too small for what I need. It’s beautiful though, and I will definitely buy the larger size if it ever appears.
Pretty disappointing all in all. I may try the tank again in store, but I also might not bother.

Countmeout · 07/08/2025 16:37

Was anyone able to watch the Kindred live earlier? So like the old lives. It was really good.

ScottishMouse · 07/08/2025 16:49

Yes, I did @Countmeout. It was so much better than recent lives. It helped that I like a lot of the latest drops and that hasn’t been so much the case in the last while, but the presenters were so much better than some others they have had recently.

Primrosespaw · 07/08/2025 17:34

@ScottishMouse that is interesting to hear about the moss yellow bandana. I was so tempted by it, but have had some disappointments with colours irl not matching website images and have opted for the relative safety of the olive one which should arrive tomorrow. It looks like a lovely item that will be well used I think.

other than that, I have bought the star patch cushion cover which is absolutely gorgeous and goes with my Toast, Liberty or House of Hackney bedding combinations. It is a thing of beauty. Two pairs of socks to round things off. I would really like a new wool coat for winter and have my eye on the one photographed with the new pecan cashmere wrap. I expect it to be spendy, so going to keep wallet shut now for a bit.

ScottishMouse · 07/08/2025 17:40

I knew it was a bit of a risk on the colour @Primrosespaw but I was still sad when I opened it. Having seen Evie holding it in the live from today, that looks truer to the colour than the online image. I wouldn’t have ordered if I had seen the live first. It a great size and shape, but I won’t buy either of other colours because I have enough more muted colour scarves.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 07/08/2025 19:28

I thought the live was so much better than the short recorded 'lives' they’ve shown lately. Anna was a really good presenter as well.
I wonder why they restricted it to Kindred, I would have thought they would want to reach a wider audience as possible.

CandidCrow · 08/08/2025 00:01

Can someone please post a link to the kindred live?

Bimblesalong · 08/08/2025 09:46

I’m looking forward to a shop visit next week. I’ve got my eye on the green silk scarf and want to have a try on of a couple of shirts and jackets.

I’ve just had the Plumo arleya dress delivered, which I bought in the sale with a further discount. It’s lovely. It’s the same French designer as their Hoyland dress. Despite being listed as a 12 it arrived as a medium and is perfect size-wise. Fabric and pattern are lovely (printed cotton).

CandidCrow · 08/08/2025 10:31

It worked! Thank you. I have the same trousers that Anna is wearing but I am a size 16 so they don’t look quite as great as they look on her! I was wearing them at the fringe and got a few compliments 😁

ScottishMouse · 08/08/2025 13:49

I wonder if anyone has tried the Bronwen indigo twill trousers? If so, can you tell me if the fabric is the same as the Alix indigo twill, and if the style is the same as the Minako? I’ve just sold a pair of unworn too small indigo Alix and was going to replace them with a bigger size, but have just spotted the Bronwen and am wondering if I might prefer them. Thanks!

AmethystMoonShine · 08/08/2025 18:19

I made it into a Toast shop yesterday. I really just wanted to see the new collection in real life. The triangular wool scarf in Moss is lovely and I liked the brown in the bigger cashmere/wool wrap… sadly it won’t go with any of my coats though.
The Donegal cardigan in smoke was lovely but too itchy for me.
There were a few nice bits but I left empty handed. I suspect I’ll order the moss scarf before long… I also fancy it in navy! 😳

Poplinskirt · 09/08/2025 12:11

Also made it to a Toast shop

The new collection has some lovely things

Firstly the Botanical dresses and tops
Far less Joules in the shadow blue which is a nice dark navy.
I bought the Botanical Shadow print cotton dress in the shadow blue and sized down to a small.
It's long( very long) has pockets and a drawstring waist which is to one side so you can play around with how you would like the gathers.
It has a fairly high neck which I don't think would flatter a larger bust, sleeves are almost elbow length .
I wasnt particularly keen on the green but that's personal preference.
The tops in same fabric are odd, not sure they work really.

I also bought the Ollie Binding shirt and skirt -the fabric is gorgeous!
Sized down to a 10 in the shirt and a small in the skirt.
Will get lots of wear as separates or together.

Itching to buy the navy bandana but I also went on a new make up spree so will have to wait

I could easily have spent double and it's nice to be excited about toast again

@ScottishMouse I saw the Bronwen trousers and they are lovely -possibly a similar fit to the Minako but a firmer more robust fabric.
I didn't try them on though

The shop staff were very nice and attentive, I did take a deep breath before entering as have had previous snotty comments at that branch.
Am so excited for autumn styling and there's a bloody heatwave here 😅

ScottishMouse · 09/08/2025 13:53

Thanks @Poplinskirt. I actually tried the Bronwen trousers this morning. My sis had sent me to try on some things for her (she lives outside the UK so likes to be sure on sizes when ordering and we are much the same size although she is quite a bit taller).
You’re right that the cut is very similar if not the same as the Minako but yes, the waist was pretty tight (even in a size up), and the button fly isn’t that flattering on a menopausal belly.
What I unexpectedly loved was this denim dress I tried on for my sis. I think it will be shorter than she wants (probably like it is on the model), but it was mid calf on me and looked great. It might be the same as one that came in other fabric previously? I hadn’t spotted it before as it’s not my usual style.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 09/08/2025 15:09

@Poplinskirt can you tell me a bit more about the Ollie Binding fabric please. I was looking at buying these but then I realised there is a wool content, and I’m allergic to wool. Does it actually feel like just cotton or is the wool content obvious? I’m wondering if I can get away with it. I’m quite cross really as its not obvious about the wool content unless you read the full description.

It feels heavier than a 100% cotton @Theteapotsbrokenspout
Absolutely gorgeous fabric
It's not obviously woolly though but if you are allergic you could always wear with a thin layer next to the skin.

Poplinskirt · 09/08/2025 15:23

That's lovely @ScottishMouse
I think it came in cord previously?

I have resolved to be brave and check things out in store from now on as its lovely to find something you wouldn't have considered online .

ScottishMouse · 09/08/2025 15:28

It is lovely @Poplinskirt and I would never have tried it on usually. I’m going to think about it and see if it would fit into my current wardrobe. Some reviews suggest wearing it open over trousers, but I’m not sure I can see myself doing that, I am quite a boring layer-er! I have very little denim in my wardrobe as I no longer wear jeans, and I miss it.

Poplinskirt · 09/08/2025 15:36

Oh I love a Denim dress @ScottishMouse
I've stopped counting mine!

I'm not a great layered either unless you count jumpers, tights and thin thermals
A. I would boil
B.Im a walker and I can bear anything that would catch my stride iyswim?

It would be extremely versatile with nice round collared shirts or long sleeve cotton tops depending on the weather.

ScottishMouse · 09/08/2025 16:08

@Poplinskirt i currently have no denim dresses or pinafores. I used to have a couple but they no longer fit. But I tend to be more of a trousers/skirt and tee in summer or jumper in winter person these days. I even find cardis tricky, so I need to have a good think about whether I would get enough wear out of it or…whether I should save my pennies for the gorgeous patterned yoke sweater that I spied on a social media post or email advertising some event or something at Toast and now cannot seem to find anywhere again…did anyone spy that?

MiracleToast · 09/08/2025 16:10

That’s gorgeous @ScottishMouse —i hadn’t noticed it at all strangely. Thanks for posting it. Adding to “try” list.

ScottishMouse · 09/08/2025 16:38

Happy to enable @MiracleToast 😆 My concern (apart from layering!) is denim. The last denim piece I had from Toast was ages ago and I remember I couldn’t ever wear anything light coloured with it, even after much washing. I think this dress would look great with a white tee or a Breton top underneath it, but would I end up always having to wear dark colours under it which wouldn’t look quite so good imo?

MiracleToast · 09/08/2025 16:45

I’m the same with my toast denim, too risky for the nice white tops. This one is a really nice shape. I have two dresses, both I got secondhand before the toast addiction really took hold, one is a pinafore and the other a shirt dress with a tie belt that cinches in the waist. They are so useful. Will you be ordering one for yourself as well as your sister?

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 09/08/2025 16:46

Thanks @Poplinskirt I might try the skirt, especially as I think it’s a piece I could easily wear into winter with tights and boots. Unfortunately the shirt will probably be a no as the collar would likely irritate.
