Here’s a new thread!

That crinkle dress is nice @ScottishMouse but I agree about the weighty fabric of the crinkle clothes. I almost ordered the dark olive crinkle dress until I realised it was the same material and colour as my skirt, which is far too heavy to wear atm!

I’ve gone back and ordered the postman shoes and the fan. Those fans are lovely now that I look at them, and if I try the shoes hopefully I can stop thinking about them and wondering what they’re like! Plus it’s my birthday next month..

Popplebop · 18/06/2025 18:14

We have several of those fans from a few years ago and get used every summer! Ours are plain but do the same thing 😆

ScottishMouse · 18/06/2025 18:26

Yeah, I’m thinking it will go back @IlovePond. I would likely only wear it in summer, but it’s probably too heavy for that even in Scotland.
I’m hoping the check one works. I love the fabric. I ordered the trousers earlier in the season, but returned them. I’m not sure why though. I think I thought I had too many pairs of check trousers, but one is winter weight and I sold one, so now I wish I had kept them. Especially as they are now oos in my size 🙄

IlovePond · 18/06/2025 19:16

They are both nice @ScottishMouse - maybe for spring?

I have also bought the side tie indigo vest. I bought it at full price when it first came out but was sent one that had obviously been worn - it even had a lollipop in the pocket along with tissues...Toast gave me a very prompt refund!

I note that the Hand embroidered Kantha jacket is in the sale. I can recommend it - it is a lovely rich navy colour with white contrast embroidery. Looks lovely with dark denim jeans. Its is slightly padded so it is a warmer jacket than most. I've worn mine so much this spring. The photos online don't really do it justice.

Poplinskirt · 19/06/2025 06:56

My pre sale order arrived
Baya Indigo shirt is perfect, sized down to a 10

I ordered two of the nighties/ lounge dresses
The lightweight linen cotton lounge dress in dusty blue is lovely.
The fabric is gorgeous, cool and crisp.
A perfect, it's boiling,summer shift

The raised stripe cotton nightdress in chalk
Lovely -again cool and crisp, nothing fancy but will be worn forever.

So one is a dress and one a nightie but exactly the same design .

The Ecru pleated shorts , I sized down to a 10 and they fit perfectly.( pear shaped 12)

They do have quite a small waist and then big pleats at the front so might not work if you have a tummy.
They are wide in the leg but the length saves them, about 3 inches below the knee , I'm tall

I'm not keeping them 😥

The fabric is soooo heavy and although they fit , it makes me look like I have 2 sizes difference in the upper/ lower parts to my body.
I'm a slim topped pear anyway -see earlier posts about balancing .
I just don't know what top, other than a big baggy jumper would work and I don't wear big baggy jumpers .
I once had a pair of Toast green flat front culottes in this ultra heavy denim and they had to go for the same reason plus they were too hot to wear in spring/ summer and not wintery enough to wear either plus the heaviness was just uncomfortable, unyielding and pinchy if a fold caught my leg cellulite

These would be perfect in a lighter denim, Annie denim weight would be fine or cotton twill .
My final thought is the ironing -an industrial press would be needed and they would need washing every wear as they are ecru.
Back they go

Snowyowl78 · 19/06/2025 07:45

@Poplinskirt glad to hear the indigo Baya is nice, although worried as I sized up for it! Are you usually a Toast 12?

Poplinskirt · 19/06/2025 08:28

I veer between 10-12 @Snowyowl78

It fits perfectly but I don't like things oversized

IlovePond · 19/06/2025 09:49

Thanks for the shorts info @Poplinskirt

Really helpful @Poplinskirt thank you

Snowyowl78 · 19/06/2025 11:16

@Poplinskirt thank you!

Snowyowl78 · 19/06/2025 11:18

Oh dear I’ve ordered the dash vest bib thing. I dithered about sizing for ages but the shoulder zone looks wide so I’ve opted for the smaller size M. Seems wrong since Angharad Jones was in the Small and she is a lot smaller than me but I think if the shoulders were too wide it just wouldn’t work. I’m interested to hear other people’s view on it when their sales purchases turn up!

ScottishMouse · 19/06/2025 14:30

My first sale parcel arrived - paid for next day delivery as going away in a few days and was hoping to bring the asawa check linen trousers. Sadly they just don’t work for me. The linen doesn’t fall as nicely as the cotton cashmere version. The Ikat jacket is a great fit in M (new usual Toast size) and I really like it, but the print is very dramatic and I’m not sure if it is me. I will need to try it on with some other things when it is cooler - it is quite padded, so definitely not a jacket for today.

IlovePond · 19/06/2025 15:04

My two orders are coming tomorrow 🤞My plan is to defray the hit to my cc by sending back what I don’t want by Saturday.

I really like the asawa check linen material as a jacket @ScottishMouse - I was tempted by the trousers but Toast trousers don’t usually fit/suit my body shape.

IlovePond · 19/06/2025 15:08

The sale has finally gone live on the Toast site.

ScottishMouse · 19/06/2025 20:18

My plan too @IlovePond. I brought my return to store this afternoon, and will bring returns from the order that is due tomorrow to store on Saturday. Unfortunately, I slightly undid the good of returning by picking up a pair of the cotton linen check trousers in slate that are oos in my size online. They’re a much better fit for me than the asawa check ones.

IlovePond · 20/06/2025 11:27

Morning, all!

My parcels have arrived.

Feedback as follows:

Going back:

Wavy knitted tank - lovely, but very heavy material and one armhole is bigger than the other so it’s unwearable.

Pinwheel blue/black stripe top - absolutely lovely, but too big for me in the chest in an M, (which is ridiculous!) I might risk reordering in a S just for a laugh.

Black kaftan in XXS/S - just a bit too small and the material is too stiff and unremarkable. (I tried the S/M a while back and that was far too big.)

Troentorp clogs in 37 green, (I am usually a 38, but these are far too wide for me in a 38). These were perfect re: Width, but unsurprisingly a tiny bit too short in length. I also didn’t like the weird rocking sensation.

IlovePond · 20/06/2025 11:35

Hi again.

I am keeping:

The £35 blue/white striped long-sleeved top in M.

It’s nothing special and is a tiny bit big on the shoulders/armpits, but the material is lovely and soft and it will come in useful for spring/autumn.

The Shoal kaftan in XXS/S.

Weirdly this is quite a bit bigger than the black version and it’s very nice. I don’t ‘need’ it, (obviously 😹), but it’s a pretty and cheerful thing to float round the house in!

Undecided:

The £60 Coffee linen panelled trousers.

These are too tight around the stomach due to the ridiculously high waist and large pockets. However, they would fill a gap in my trouser wardrobe!

Does anyone know if these are likely to get baggier/looser with wear/after washing?

My existing Toast linen trousers went baggy and shapeless after one wash. If these will do the same, I would keep them!

Thanks

My first parcel arrived .

Socks - keeping (as usual)

Indigo twill side tie vest - exactly my sort of thing, I think the only reason I didn't buy it in the first place is because it's dry clean only @ScottishMouse have you washed yours?

Tilia quilted vest - a much better fit in S than the M I paid full price for and sent back. I just can't decide whether I will get enough wear out of it.

ScottishMouse · 20/06/2025 13:04

@Theteapotsbrokenspout no I have mr washed it. I wore it for the first while with dark colours and I think most of the excess indigo has rubbed off now.

ScottishMouse · 20/06/2025 13:07

My second parcel arrived. The vneck crinkle dress is going back. As suspected, it is too heavy for summer and I will never wear a sleeveless dress at other times of year. However, the cross back check linen cotton dress is a delight. I ordered 10 and 12 and 12 is a better looser fit, and it does not show my bra at the back! Only thing is that I will need to apply sun cream to my back next week when I go away, but I will be travelling alone…not sure I will manage that.

CakeAndJazz · 20/06/2025 13:16

There really hasn’t been much for me in the sale this time round.

I’m sending back the Freya dress in ecru as it’s so much bigger than my previous Freya dresses in the same size. I’m not sure I’d order the smaller size if it came back in stock.

The Seren jeans are also going back. They are such a beautiful fit, but at 5’4 they’re just a bit too long. I think a really good price for someone taller.

@Theteapotsbrokenspout I’m holding on to the lovely wrap vest for the moment, but I’m not sure I’ll be keeping it. It really is a lovely piece, but I’m trying to keep only clothes I’ll wear a lot/daily, and I’m not sure how exactly I’d wear this with my existing wardrobe. The reviews seem to suggest people just popping it over any outfit, so I’ll have to see if that works for me (I do wear mostly dresses).

@Primrosespaw were the sunglasses the Cubitts ones? I’m wondering that the fit on those would be like for someone with a smallish head…

I ordered the cashmere linseed cardigan (very much out of season I know), but it’s been on the top of my list for so long and I’d be gutted if it sold out (I noticed one size out of stock, so I decided not to dither any longer). I wear my other colours in this style daily in AW.

As always, lovely to hear what others are buying and wearing.

Stoic123 · 20/06/2025 13:51

@ScottishMouse - I've been looking at the linen check dress. It's lovely.

How high and tight is the front? I've got a bit of a chest and that style can look a bit 'booby' on me.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 20/06/2025 13:52

Thanks @ScottishMouse l'm glad you mentioned the excess colour rub, I’ll definitely restrict it to over dark clothes to start with.

@CakeAndJazz I think the wrap vest could be very useful, I just need to be sure it will go with enough of my wardrobe, it’s quite an unusual colour for me.
