Here’s a new thread!

@Snowyowl78 I also have the Baya indigo shirt in a 12, which is my high st size, and the pen and ink shirt in a 12. Both roomy but I wouldn’t want to size down.

Snowyowl78 · 14/06/2025 16:17

@Theteapotsbrokenspout thank you! Sounds like I should get the 14 then.

Poplinskirt · 14/06/2025 17:58

@Snowyowl78
I'm a highstreet 12 32 FF but slim around the arms/ chest

I worked out that around 8-9 inches of positive ease is the sweet spot for me with shirts as I'm balancing out my hips.
I have a small waist so stick to 40-41 inches in the bust or I look enormous
I've got a little notebook with my preferred measurements in inches and cm so that Ì know what toast size to go for .
I have everything from small to large
8-12 in toast as the sizing is all over the place!

As an aside has anyone had some very very low offers on Vinted lately?
Brand new , recent items fairly priced and I'm getting offers of a 3rd of the price
Are these resellers?

Snowyowl78 · 15/06/2025 19:43

@Poplinskirt thank you for the info! Sounds like a good system.

ScottishMouse · 15/06/2025 19:46

@Poplinskirt i’m loving how organised you are. Do tell though, what does positive ease mean? Thanks!

Poplinskirt · 16/06/2025 13:19

Hello @ScottishMouse

Essentially it's the amount of roominess in clothes, otherwise we wouldn't be able to move or breathe womens clothing in history has been clingy/fitted to restrain them and prevent unfeminine activity gah
I use it all the time in knitting to check fit

I'm a 32 bust
If I was knitting a summer top, fairly fitted but not clingy then I would go for 4-6 inches positive ease.
Final measurement of the garment would be 36/38 inches or whatever in cm

Shirts I like a little roomier so 8-9 inches positive ease so 40/41 inch garment measurement .
Bigger than that is not flattering on me , I look like a rectangle with no middle, ditto long shirts and jumpers.

So I have my ideal measurements scribbled down for the type of fit and then I can compare with toast sizes.
Or you could measure a current shirt that fits you well and go for that.

I'm always calculating cm to inches in my head !

Another thing and a gripe of mine is that Toast don't do different cuts.
As in petite, regular and tall.
I'm sure you remember the long pelvis discussions ?😅
Proportions are important.
Something other companies are streets ahead on

Poplinskirt · 16/06/2025 13:29

Ps I have a Liberty pocket tape measure on me at all times
Yes I'm that customer

faustina · 16/06/2025 13:33

That was very interesting @Poplinskirt - thank you! About Vinted - I often get very silly offers for things. I think there are just a lot of idiots out there. Once or twice I've declined three offers from the same person for a very fairly priced item who go on to buy it at full price with a little note saying 'fair enough'

Thanks @faustina
Saves me trying, buying or sending back multiple things
The same thing happened last night offers at £30 less- aka they want it to be given away
Declined and then they bought at £5 less
I always add 5-10 more than I would accept for the psychology of haggling
Everything was brand new -all sold in the space of an hour last night

That should be it now, my current system means I don't make the same mistakes anymore

AmethystMoonShine · 16/06/2025 16:45

I once got into such an ongoing to and fro of Vinted haggling the buyer rejected my counter offer (after about 6 tries) to then offer me more than I just offered 🤪
I accepted 😂

ScottishMouse · 16/06/2025 16:47

Thanks for that explanation @Poplinskirt. I usually just measure off something I have that I like the fit of, but maybe I should note these measurements down. I too always have a small measuring tape in my bag 😆

It makes life so much easier and I rarely order more than one size these days.

My DH is amazed what I carry in my small bag @ScottishMouse 😂

I think that was a win @AmethystMoonShine

Just off to post my last parcel
I do a video of the item inside and out now
Takes 2 minutes but too many scammers about sadly

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 16/06/2025 21:02

My Kaftan arrived today. I’m quite surprised how lovely it is, it’s quite see through and I’d never wear it out, but as a nightie it’s so nice. Expensive but definitely a keeper for me.

@Theteapotsbrokenspout Beautiful kaftan, love the flow.Toast nightwear is such a pleasure to wear and compared to the clothes gets worn so much !

ScottishMouse · 17/06/2025 17:20

Early access to the sale has started for kindred members. Log into your account and you should see the sale tab up the top. Very little homeware sadly, I have ordered the crosshatch Ikat quilted jacket and Minako asawa linen trousers.

Popplebop · 17/06/2025 17:54

I was just coming in to flag the sale! Randomly was looking and it appeared. Lots of old favourites and anyone who wanted the blue tabard/netball vest will be in luck!

Stravaig · 17/06/2025 18:13

Had forgotten all about the netball tabard! Has it been a successful wardrobe addition for those who were tempted?

(Just been howling over a Classics wardrobe expectations vs reality thread :D

RockaLock · 17/06/2025 18:27

Oh bother. Expensive sale order going in! - some stuff from the previous sale that I didn’t get around to ordering, and a couple of things I didn’t know I wanted until just now.

(but thank you for the heads-up Grin)

faustina · 17/06/2025 19:16

@ScottishMouse I noticed that denim smock you were thinking about is in the sale
Nothing there for me - I also thought very poor homeware selection

IlovePond · 17/06/2025 19:52

Thanks @ScottishMouse

I have put in a large order - more in hope than expectation that anything will suit! I am trying the kaftans again - in black and multi. (I liked the black one when I tried it a couple of years ago but I had already bought too much so returned it.)

I think the linen trousers I have ordered are the ones I tried last sale - the ones that created a nappy effect 😹. Maybe these will fit better.

I have also ordered the wavy tank and the light blue stripy tee. I am tempted to try the Troentorp clogs again but they are just too wide for my feet - sad, because they are lovely.

VivienneDelacroix · 17/06/2025 19:58

Ridiculous order gone in for me. I've been on a no spend for months so I feel slightly better about it than I would otherwise.
I've ordered:
Check cotton linen cross back dress
Chup socks
Jessa dungarees
Crinkled cotton v neck dress
Minako Asawa check linen trousers
Jersey loopback trousers in charcoal

I wanted the black voile kaftan and the cotton cashmere checked trousers but they're sold out in my size.

Primrosespaw · 17/06/2025 20:07

The early access sale is now on. I have gine for new sunglasses as just lost the 13 year old pair. Going to try and be restrained on everything else as I don’t need anything. Easier said than done though!

IlovePond · 17/06/2025 20:08

In case this is of any use to anybody, here are some things I have tried/bought before that are currently in this sale:

The £35 stripy poplin top with the weird tie across the middle is much nicer irl - especially for those with smaller chests, (imo).

I have both the £60 gauzy crinkle sundresses and I love them - very comfy, flattering and ‘forgiving’ material.

The £55 poplin jacket is huge and extremely noisy.

The £75 organic dyed cotton jacket is lovely - I have the green and wear it a lot. The blue is very very pale blue indeed. (Think 70s super washed out almost white denim.)

The Troentorp clogs are beautiful and very comfy but wide-fitting, ime.

The £7 dip bowl, (got mine as a freebie at an event), is very cute.

The matching £9 cereal bowl is nice - I have two.

The kaftans come up quite big.

The blue Rosa dress is lovely irl, but sizing is weird.

The Franca dress is beautiful irl in that ochre colour way, (but no good for me across the chest 😿)

The £55 Raft deckchair skirt is quite bonkers irl, but surprisingly nice on. I tried it at the sample sale but left it as I was already buying up half the shop.

The KS £49 Jigsaw bag is adorable - I got one a few weeks ago at the KS yard sale and use it for work.

The KS £80 Scout bag is even nicer than the Jigsaw, (and I am furious with myself for not buying the one for £30 at the yard sale!)

IlovePond · 17/06/2025 20:17

I forgot- I also have the linen boy tee in the grey - M fitted me and it’s thin and a bit see-through. I tend to wear mine underneath other things.

Stoic123 · 17/06/2025 20:31

Ive been in and had a look - just the Linen V-neck dress in Rooibos Red to try on. I have tried this dress on in a shop and remember quite liking it (but not why I didn't go ahead and buy it). No doubt will become clear as soon as I put it on.

Disappointed by home offerings.
