Here’s a new thread!

@ScottishMouse - I've thought about it when JL used to stock it but never did as it seemed overpriced and at the time a lot of it was synthetic. Anghared Jones is plugging it on Instagram at the moment and she seems to like it (but I think it's gifted).

Btw did you see Irishgirlinglasgow wearing a brand called Careless Label? It seems really nice and is aimed at petites, though not exclusively. Quite nicely minimalist in a Toast kind of way, but almost sold out of everything sadly. I've added myself to their mailing list

ScottishMouse · 10/06/2025 19:48

Thanks @faustina. I’ll have a look at Angharad jones on insta.
That other label you mention is being stocked in a store in Glasgow, I guess that is where Irish girl got it, along with some other nice looking brands. Only in store though sadly.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 10/06/2025 22:47

I decided after the success of the pen and ink shirt to order a couple more pieces from the new drop:
The Bold stripe tee which I was quite surprised has been despatched already as it says expected in stock 16th June, and the Apricot crinkle pyjamas.

ScottishMouse · 11/06/2025 13:24

I like the look of that T-shirt @Theteapotsbrokenspout. I might even order it if it’s actually in stock.

Countmeout · 11/06/2025 15:38

I like that T-shirt too @Theteapotsbrokenspout . I’m interested to know the weight of it . After humming and hazing I’ve swerved the pen and ink shirt and ordered the garment dyed linen shirt in both colour ways to choose one - it had been out of stock but reappeared. I think it might be useful as a jacket as well. I think some people already have it?

ScottishMouse · 11/06/2025 17:06

I tried that shirt a few times @Countmeout as I really wanted it to work for me, but the oat colour just washed me out and I wasn’t after a navy shirt. It’s lovely, hope it works out for you.
I have just ordered the stripe tee and I am having another go at the linen cotton knitted tank in slate. I tried it in store and loved everything about it except for the length. But I have searched around and not found a good alternative so I am going to try it again and see if I can make it work.

faustina · 11/06/2025 19:58

@Countmeout - I have them both! I haven't actually worn the navy yet but I'm very pleased with it, though slightly on the short side. I found the oat on Vinted and have that too, but need to decide whether I can make that colour work for me. I really like the way the top button sits. Hope you like yours too when it gets there. Mine is a size S and fits me very well (no gaping like so many other Toast shirts)

ScottishMouse · 12/06/2025 20:45

Did your stripey tee arrive yet @Theteapotsbrokenspout? Mine was dispatched yesterday (despite still saying it wouldn’t be in stock until the 16th) and looks like it will arrive tomorrow.

Bimblesalong · 12/06/2025 21:14

My pen and ink shirt has arrived and is really lovely. I shall enjoy styling it as a jacket as well as a shirt.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 12/06/2025 22:59

@ScottishMouse No, I expected it today as it was dispatched on Tuesday but I got a RM message for delivery tomorrow.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 13/06/2025 11:11

@ScottishMouse The tee arrived this morning. I think it's quite a heavy weight material for this time of year, and quite over sized. However I do really like it and will most likely keep it, the most off putting thing for me is that the sleeves are really long on me and quite wide - an ideal combination for dipping in food.

The pyjamas will go back - I usually order a L in pyjamas to get a really loose waist, stupidly this time I ordered M. I might try the nightdress or possible the kaftan instead.

ScottishMouse · 13/06/2025 12:47

Thanks for the update @Theteapotsbrokenspout. I’ll reserve judgement until mine arrives later. I like oversized and I like a wide sleeve, but I have short arms so if they are very long that might be a deal breaker. How is the blue colour, is it true to your screen?

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 13/06/2025 13:16

@ScottishMouse the blue is true to my screen, I do really like the colour.

ScottishMouse · 13/06/2025 13:50

Mine just arrived @Theteapotsbrokenspout. I think it may be going back as it is far too heavy for summer for me. Also the sleeves are very long and would require turning up quite a few times. I’ll try it again later with some other things but I’m not convinced.
The linen cotton knit tank I still love. But I just wonder if it is too long with a skirt/culottes because I am short. It looks bulky tucked in. Does anyone have it and wear it over skirts (particularly if you are not very tall)? I’ll add a photo.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 13/06/2025 14:07

@ScottishMouse yes, I agree, the tee is too heavy to wear now. But I think it will be very useful into autumn, and as it’s oversized, room to wear something thin under it. It does seem odd it’s turned up in this drop instead of earlier or later.

I don’t think the tank can be tucked in either, I have the v neck from previously and I quite like it over skirts but I think I’m taller than you (5’ 4”).

ScottishMouse · 13/06/2025 14:14

Only a little taller @Theteapotsbrokenspout, I’m 5’2”. I loved last year’s version too but the neckline this year is much better for me. I would love if they would do a cropped version, it would be my perfect summer top.

OftenOrange · 13/06/2025 16:40

@ScottishMouse Chiming in to say that I love the way the linen tank looks worn outside your culottes. The long necklace seems to be cleverly balancing everything in an elegant way .

IlovePond · 13/06/2025 18:53

Looks lovely @ScottishMouse - I like that skirt!

ScottishMouse · 13/06/2025 18:54

Thanks @OftenOrange. I asked everyone in my house (not all of whom have opinions I trust!) and it was a resounding no. I think my first feeling about it being too long is right. Shame, but maybe they will make a shorter one next year.

Snowyowl78 · 14/06/2025 10:24

@ScottishMouse you couldn’t just sort of tuck it under without tucking it in could you?

I’ve got 2 long skirts in my wardrobe which I haven’t worn yet. I keep thinking that tops need to stop at the waistband or be tucked it but maybe I’m being too uptight about the silhouette.

on another note, does anyone know about the sizing of the Baya Indigo Twill Shirt? I’ve read every single review and it’s mixed! Also some people refer to buying the ‘M’ when the sizing is 4-18 so that’s confusing. I would normally buy a Toast 12 but it’s recommending me the 14 and some people say size up and some down!

ToastCosILoveIt · 14/06/2025 11:15

@ScottishMouse , I think it looks better with the orange (pumpkin) skirt than it does with the navy skirt, perhaps it’s the contrast. I ordered the linen cotton tank a while back but sent it back as it didn’t flatter me and, like you, I wondered how I would wear it.

@Snowyowl78 I have the Baya indigo twill shirt and it is a 12 which is my high street size for a 5ft 5 32e bust. I love it as a shirt and as a jacket over a tee.

The ink and pen shirt arrived in my standard 12 and, while the fit is boxy, I am happy that I didn’t size down. It is a lovely shirt and I can see why it is selling fast. I also got the striped donegal tank in brick/red clay in a medium. It is a lovely piece which I am sure I will wear in different ways across all seasons.

Does anyone by their DHs Toast clothes? My husband has quite an array, often from the sale. I ordered him the overdyed Hand embroidered shirt and it looks good on him, really like the embroidery on it. I have ordered him several pairs of trousers in the past though and they have all had to go back as the size was either wrong (too big and too small) or the cut wasn’t right. I would love to find him the right pair but I think we would have to get him to try them on in store and I would struggle to get him into a Toast shop (he thinks they are too expensive :)).

Snowyowl78 · 14/06/2025 11:47

Thank you @ToastCosILoveIt that makes me think I should go for the 14 and not the 12. I am probably a high st 14. I also want to wear it as a jacket so maybe that’s made my mind up.

yes I buy my husband Toast, t-shirts, shirts, jumpers and some trousers. He varies between and a medium and a large and it depends on each item so always a risk!

Popplebop · 14/06/2025 12:15

@ToastCosILoveIti would buy Toast for my DH but he would want return them instantly - traumatised at the prices 😂. He would rather buy new running shoes.

Snowyowl78 · 14/06/2025 12:23

@Popplebop @ToastCosILoveIt most of what I buy for him is in the sale- I find that almost everything goes into the men’s sale and it’s much easy to buy as there isn’t a mad frenzy of people buying like in the womens sale!

Countmeout · 14/06/2025 13:30

I like it with the rust skirt @ScottishMouse .The contrast is nice.

The linen shirts arrived but are going back. They’re just not right for me. I do this all the time, I have of how something should look and then it doesn’t.
Nothing has been very successful lately.
